Solrock -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Solrock Burning Shadows Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Solrock from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Solrock is a Basic, Fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 90.  Solrock has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Double Draw, for one Colorless Energy card, this move allows you to draw 2 cards.  Solrock's second move is called Solar Heat, for one Fighting Energy, this move does 20 damage, plus 20 more damage if you have a Stadium card in play.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Solrock is a Basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Solrock.  With this being said, if you read yesterday's review of Lunatone, you'll know that the Ability on that card required Solrock to be in play, so you're going to want to include those two cards together.  If you use this Solrock in a deck, it makes for a decent starter type Pokemon, especially if you're using Regirock EX, a Strong Energy, and a Brooklet Hill Stadium card, if you're using all of these cards and have them in play, the first turn you attack, Solrock can do 70 damage for only 1 Energy card.  Buzzwole GX is very similar to this, but spreads damage around for 1 Energy card.  So if you're building a Fighting type deck, this card is certainly worth consideration as it helps draw cards and it can do major damage early in a game.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Like I mentioned above, if you pair this card with both Lunatone and several other tech cards, this card can pack a punch early in a game, plus, I like that it can help draw additional cards early in a game.  While I would much rather use Buzzwole GX in a deck, this is a card that can still attack if you're facing something like Hoopa or Alolan Ninetales that prevent GX cards from doing damage.

Solrock -- Primal Clash Pokemon Card Review

Solrock Primal Clash Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Solrock from the Primal Clash Pokemon Card Set.  Solrock is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 80, it has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Solrock does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Solar Generator, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to search your deck for up to two special energy cards and put them into your hand.  Solrock's second move is called Knock Away, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of fighting and colorless, and does 20 damage, plus if you get a heads when flipping a coin it does an additional 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Solrock is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, this card would be an excellent starter type Pokemon card in a fighting type deck, as long as you are willing to wait one turn before doing damage to the defending Pokemon.  So if you're building a fighting type deck, I would definitely recommend using this card in your deck, one or two of them, but if you are also using Special energy cards in your deck, this card fits into your deck even better.  Strategy wise, I would get this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game and once there are two energy cards on it, use Knock Away every turn.  You could always attach a Trick Coin item card to Solrock to give you a better chance at doing 40 damage a turn with Knock Away and knocking most Basic Pokemon out in two turns.  What I like about this card is that even though it is a bit slower on the attack, it has 20 more HP than most Basic Pokemon have, so it can endure one weak attack without hurting much.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Basic Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set.  This card has a high HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, one move doing well above average damage, so you really can't go wrong with having this card in your deck, it should get the game going in the right direction for you by being able to do up to 40 damage a turn for only two energy cards.

Solrock -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Solrock Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Solrock from the Pokemon XY Card Set.  Solrock is a stage 1, fighting type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy retreat cost.  Solrock does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Cosmic Spin, this move requires one colorless energy card and does 10 damage, plus if you have a Lunatone on your bench it does 30 more damage.  Solrock's second move is called Solar Beam, this move requires three energy cards, two fighting and one colorless, and does 60 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Solrock is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Lunatone into play (I reviewed Lunatone from this set yesterday) and then evolve Lunatone into Solrock.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Lunatone was an average to slightly above average basic Pokemon card, it had a good hp and two moves.  Because of this, Lunatone could easily be used on its own, so if you want to use this Pokemon line in your deck, I would suggest using a 2-2 line.  That way, you can get one Lunatone evolved right away, move that card to the active Pokemon spot and have another Lunatone on the bench so Solrock's Cosmic Spin attack can do 40 damage per turn.  If you have the necessary energy, Solar Beam is a good move to use, it is average overall but 60 damage is quite a bit from a stage 1 card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 1 Pokemon card from the X and Y set.  There really is nothing to complain about with this card, it is just average overall.  I would definitely recommend using this card in a deck and I especially like the kicker Cosmic Spin has on it.  So overall, I would give the Pokemon family of Lunatone and Solrock a 4 out of 5 rating, individually each was a 3, but together they are above average.

Solrock -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Solrock Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Solrock from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Solrock is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Solrock does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move this card has is called Heat Burn, this move does 20 damage and burns the defending Pokemon for two energy cards, one each of fighting and colorless.  Solrock's second move is called Explosion, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one fighting, and does 90 damage, however it also does 90 damage to itself.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Solrock is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  Since this card does not have a move that only requires one energy card to attack, you'll want to set up this Pokemon on your bench so you don't have to go turns without being able to attack while in the active Pokemon spot.  Once you get two energy cards on Solrock you can move it to the active Pokemon spot.  I would recommend using Heat Burn every turn until right before getting knocked out by the defending Pokemon, right before this happens instead of using Heat Burn I would use Explosion, even though you'll knock yourself out, hopefully you'll be able to knock out the defending Pokemon as well or at least take a good chunk out of it.  I personally would not use this card in a deck, but if you choose to I would not use more than 1 in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card set.  I like that this card has above average hp for a basic Pokemon, and that it has two moves.  Neither move really is anything special and with a three energy card retreat cost it really deters me from using this card in a deck.  But overall this card is average and could contribute to a deck if need be.
