Flaaffy -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Flaaffy Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Flaaffy from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card set.  Flaaffy is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an HP of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Flaaffy does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Ram and for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage.  Flaaffy's second move is called Thunder Shock and for three energy cards, two colorless and one lightning, this move does 50 damage, plus if you get a heads when flipping a coin, the defending Pokemon is paralyzed.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Flaaffy is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Mareep into play (I reviewed Mareep from this set yesterday) and then evolve Mareep into Flaaffy.  Flaaffy does have a Stage 2 evolution in Ampharos, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Flaaffy is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Mareep, you'll know that I thought it was an average to slightly below average Basic Pokemon card.  Really there were no negatives on the card, since it had a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, but there really wasn't anything on the card that made you really want to use it.  That same theory goes for this Flaaffy card, it is average overall, having a solid HP, lower retreat cost, and two moves, but using this card with Ampharos is just not a good idea.  You don't want to put three energy cards on this card to do only 50 damage a turn, but, if you're playing this full line, you could easily start with Mareep in the active Pokemon spot and evolve in to the active Pokemon spot up to Ampharos.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Like Mareep from this set, this card is very average overall, it just doesn't have the "it" factor with it, meaning there really is no reason to play this card without Ampharos.  Because of that, even though I gave both Mareep and Flaaffy 3 out of 5 ratings, I am giving these two cards combined a 2 out of 5 rating.

Flaaffy -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Flaaffy Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Flaaffy from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  Flaaffy is a stage 1, electric type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  Flaaffy is the stage 1 evolution of Mareep, there is a Mareep card in this set and I reviewed that card yesterday, Flaaffy's stage 2 evolution is Ampharos and I'll be reviewing that card tomorrow.  Flaaffy has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Flaaffy does not have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Cotton Guard and for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage and reduces any attacks done to Flaaffy during its next turn by 20.  Flaaffy's second move is called Power Gem and for three energy cards, two colorless and one electric, this move does 40 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since this is a stage 1 Pokemon, you'll first have to evolve Mareep into Flaaffy to use this card.  Like I said yesterday, you'll want to keep Mareep on the bench until you evolve it into Flaaffy, once that happens I would still recommend keeping this Pokemon on the bench because it doesn't have a very high hp and neither of its moves can do much damage, at least for the amount of energy that it requires.  I would recommend getting three energy cards on Flaaffy, evolving it into Ampharos and then moving actually moving it into the active Pokemon spot and taking advantage of Ampharos's Ability.  If I had to put Flaaffy into the active Pokemon spot, my strategy would be similar to yesterday's Mareep strategy, I would use Power Gem every turn unless using Cotton Guard would prevent Flaaffy from getting knocked out that next turn.  After reviewing the first two Pokemon in this line, I would knock recommend using either of them without having Ampharos in that deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  This is a well below average, stage 1 Pokemon card.  I would stay away from this card at all costs...unless of course you want to use Ampharos, which is actually very good in this set, then you'll have to use this card.  But this card has way too low of hp, and two terrible moves, so I would not ever put this card into the active Pokemon spot if I didn't have to.
