What the poor state of American manufactury has reduced me to.

This is how to fix a toaster when the catch doesn't work any more.

Jane,
You made my day with this post! I got a huge laugh from it. Thank YOU!

Btw, I have been enjoying baking bread. You & Hannah have inspired me. And I do use your recipes at times to figure out what I'm doing. Hannah has had great notes!

I'd love to share a couple favorites of mine if you are interested. They are lovely breads.

Thanks again. Take care,
Karen L.

I think we must have been separated at birth. My 1955 tiny house is FULL of jerry rigged things that only work for me.

I have to explain the weird shower turnoff, the garage light that doesn't turn on from the obvious switch, and the phone cords going around doorways that are staple gunned in place to guests.

My toaster makes yours look state-of-the-art. I'd give ANYTHING if I'd been around when my brother finished clearing out our mother's house after she died. I salivate at the thought of that ancient, you can hardly lift it, toaster that was older than I am (pretty darned old) and still working perfectly in 1998.

Have you applied for a patent? Everyone will want one.
