Melinama does Illustration Friday: "Fail."
This is a study for a future painting of one of my favorite pieces of advice ("If you don't chew bones your teeth won't hurt"). Click for larger view.I liked mixing the original Yiddish with motifs from the Mexican Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The skeletons are not uncheerful. The advice, even though it is most useful when one has FAILED at some risky endeavor, is not dismal.

Unusual combo...but it works so well, who woulda' thought? Excellent take on the topic!
The combination of purple birds, white skeletons, brilliant orange writing and yellow background is eye-popping fun.
