Quintessentially Christmasy and pleasantly tart, this pie is
one of my favorites. It is also one of the simplest pies I have made in these 4years of pie-making endeavors.

Friday Pie-Day: Shoofly Pie
“Shoofly pie and apple pan dowdy make your eyes light up and
your tummy shout, ‘Howdy!’”
When our grandmother randomly sang us this 1946 song by Dinah
Shore, we knew this pie was in our future! Click to play this song as you read
the rest of this post. (And if you’re curious about apple pan-dowdy, 2:05 has a
recipe for it!)

Friday Pie-Day: Sweet Potato Pie (with a twist!)
I am sharing this recipe 7 weeks before November 28 because it
tastes like Thanksgiving and you are going to want to try it. We modified the recipe a little with tasty results!

Friday Pie-Day: Grape Pie
Get ready for another weird and quirky pie! This was actually
one of our favorites though, and not very difficult to prepare! It is
definitely one we want to repeat sometime.
Here is the story… After our first year of making a pie every month, we joked about some quirky pies we could make. I think some of our
options were “mayonnaise pie,” “butter pie,” and… yep – grape pie. But the more
we talked about it, the more excited we got about the possibility of a grape
pie.

Friday Pie-Day: Apricot Pie
Here’s one you don’t hear every day (which should change,
because it was definitely a family favorite) – apricot pie! Dried apricots give
this pie a unique flavor and make it easy to make any time of the year.
We made ours in August 2011 though. That year our pies of the month were more quirky. Incidentally, do you pronounce it “ape” or “app”?

Friday Pie-Day: Razzleberry Pie
Raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries are a great
combination, especially in a pie! This was our pie of the month in July 2011,
and it was buenisimo!

Friday Pie-Day: Pineapple Paradise Pie
Put on your tropical shirts and get your tastebuds ready for
this beauty – pineapple paradise pie!
We made this in 2011 as our pie of the month. (Aren’t my grandparents adorable?)
You don’t need many ingredients, and it is not very
labor-intensive. But it is quite yummy!

Friday Pie-Day: Peanut Butter Pie
Another classic pie of the month (we made this in 2011), and this is a favorite, knowing our family’s love for peanut butter!

Friday Pie-Day: Raisin Pie
I made this rather quirky pie in 2011 as our "pie of the month," and it’s one of my mom’s
favorites! I must say it exceeded my expectations, and it was quite tasty and
fairly easy to make.

Friday Pie-Day: Butterscotch Pie
It all started because we had some butterscotch chips left
over from a cookie recipe. They sat in our fridge for months before we finally
went on All Recipes and looked up ways to cook them.

Friday Pie-Day: Oreo Cream Pie
I should have listened to my sister. When we decided to do an
Oreo pie for February’s pie of the month in 2011, she found this recipe on Kraft Foods website.
She emailed me a link with ideas for modifications, recommending
that we simply buy a pre-made Oreo pie crust instead of going to the trouble of
making our own. As you can see, there is no Oreo crust in the ingredients
picture.

Friday Pie-Day: Banana Cream Pie
Another pie!
Our family has a slight obsession with bananas. We see them as
portable, self-contained, sweet bundles of perfectly-textured goodness. We buy
them by the bushel because they go so fast in our house. In fact, our love of
bananas is probably only surpassed by our love of peanuts. Really, we just love
our food. This, for instance, is how many bananas are in our house right now.
