Egypt

Luckily I had brought some stamps with me , that were purchased in shops in Sharm El Sheikh. The Post office was closed for no apparent reason. So this card went in the mail box outside the post office.

Africa-Egypt-Luxor This is a fantastic place to visit and should be on everyones list of must dooooos.. lol.. This postcard does not do it justice. The condition of the area is pretty amazing bearing in mind how old it is. A World Heritage Site.

Middle East-Egypt in Asia-Sharm el Sheikh  Back to regular postcards again. I have and still am very busy with work so still have much catching up to do. Sinai was off limits for Irish tourists as far as a our government was concerned when I visited. But as you all know that would not put me off. This was a holiday in the pure sense of the word. Relaxing and just enjoying the sun. So great to do that. Sharm el Shikh is not full of charm and one does not come here to see the sights. Still the pools were nice as was the food. Did manage to see those wonderful fish in the sea here.

I had a significant row with the taxi driver who did not know where the Post office was. He said he did but he did not.. Post offices are not exactly on everyone's list of places to visit, but they are certainly in my case. Found the Post office, but no selection of stamps . I was surprised as this is a major tourist area. I guess most tourists mail their cards from the Hotels.

Luxor Egypt

Spending most of my time in Sinai , but here in Luxor on a day trip. Thought it would be too short but fine, as after a while you get jadded looking at all the wonderful history here in Luxor. Certainly a must see on most peoples list of places to visit. The inside of the toombs in The Valley of the Kings are amazing , but no photos permitted.
The Post office in Luxor was closed here on the day I arrived even though it was due to be open. Fortunately I purchased some stamps as a back up in Sharm el Sheikh and was able to post some postcards in the Postbox.

Belarus, Lithuania, Netherlands, Egypt

Europe-Belarus-Minsk  Spent a action packed day in Minsk. Was surprised how green it was with plenty of  nice parks. Went to a number of fabulous orthodox churches; all had a great sense of atmosphere. Hired a guide who talked a lot  as I whizzed past interesting sights. Still, McDonalds new restaurant was great.

The post office had little to offer , still a nice stamp of a bridge

Europe-Lithuania-Vilnius. Vilnius Cathedral a great site in the centre of the city.  Vilnius historic centre is a World Heritage Site

This stamp shows the enlargement of the EU with the 10 extra flags of the new states. Must have had an off day Vilnius is spelt wrong!

Europe-Netherlands-Amsterdam  A view of the famous canals and bridges of Amsterdam. The Canal Ring of Amsterdam is a World Heritage Site.

Purchased these stamps at the airport in Amsterdam. They are from a booklet.

Africa-Egypt-Cairo  The pyramid at Giza and the Sphinx. What a great site. Still a little disappointed it did not look like it was in the movie " Cleopatra ". In the Museum in Cairo there were many precious objects just left on the floor! Also my first time with  Egyptian drivers, a little crazy.  Still better then some others I could name. A World Heritage Site.

A beautiful embossed stamp of Tutankhamun.
