The incredible Heidi Rice has not only made my New Years Day enjoyable, she will provide her readers and fans with a stunning love story with Surf, Sea and a Sexy Stranger. Sexy doesn’t even describe billionaire Ryan King.

Maddy Westmore had been bitterly hurt by her father, her parents marriage had been a mess and a couple of past boy friends had used her. It was her time to do the using! First she had to save a surfer caught out in a storm. The well toned, handsome surfer was ungrateful and cranky when he was pulled onto shore. In fact he was a very rich man who lived in a manor up on the cliffs overlooking the bay. However, being the person she was Maddy was determined to check on him because he had a bad limp and had also injured his head. Her visit to the manor to check on Rye would changed this green eyed pixie and billionaire’s life forever.

Rye was in a mood. After the surfing incident, he realized he was done. He was not used to living this way because he wasn’t in control. On top of that a woman rescued him and that also made him angry. A bad knee, he was impotent and now he had another problem, the sexy lifeguard showed up on his front porch, soaking wet from a storm. Yes, Maddy stormed into his life and brought back to life to his body, something he had believed would never happen. He wanted her with a fierceness he hadn’t felt in a long time. The feelings were mutual and after a few passionate kisses they both agreed they wanted each other and a “no strings” blow out affair. Of course being an alpha, Rye called all of the shots and that made Maddy angry from time to time.

Maddy was in for a shock. On top of her life guard job which was soon coming to an end, she worked at the beach cafe. Her boss and friend knew she had a number one rule...... “never sleep with the boss”. Her reason had something to due with what she witnessed as a young girl. Now she was in trouble because what she didn’t know was her boss actually was Rye. He finally owned up to the fact that he owned many businesses in the area, the cafe being one of them. Learning he was the boss, made her physically ill and he couldn’t understand why. He demanded she explain and her answers surprised him. However painful it was to reveal them, in the end they agreed to continue their short term “no strings” affair. After a couple of weeks, Rye went to California and then on to London for business without her as he decided to take over the helm of his London based company. While he was gone, she also realized there was no chance for them, because she had broken the rule…….she loved him!

Maddy was miserable and Rye had to admit he missed her. His plan was to bring her to London and also encourage her to meet with his friend because he felt she was a talented artist and possibly had a future with her painting. He was proud of her, but still he distanced himself and wouldn’t share his past or his feelings. Maddy knew she should own up and tell him she loved him and when she did, not only did everything change; she ended up leaving London with a broken heart. A broken young woman, a woman in love with someone who would never love her back.  So she returned  home to her cottage.

Maddy, his little green eyed pixie, in the end, brought him back to life even though he fought it every step of the way because he didn’t do commitment. However, there was a reason why which was later revealed. Yes, Maddy also had issues but her feelings for her lover were stronger. Did he mean to be cruel by still wanting her in his bed? No; but he had to come to terms with the past before he could figure everything out. Running out on him, did the trick because in the end, he realized their relationship had never been simple; it had been so more than that. A spectacular ending with a beautiful epilogue giving this interesting couple their happy ending. Reading Surf, Sea and a Sexy Stranger was a great way to start out my New Year thanks to clever author, Heidi Rice.

Fascinating is the word I would use to describe Unfinished Business With the Duke. Adding to that sweet, sexy and sad because the hero, handsome Gio Hamilton refused to acknowledge his past hurts as a child. He also refused to get involved or have any sort of relationship with a woman.

The author’s heroine Issadora or Izzy as her friends called her was magnificent. She was a fiery redhead with a heart as wide as the ocean. She was sweet, charming, fierce and could be determined at times. Issy adored her mother and father and then her father died. As a young girl she and her mother lived at the manor taking care of Gio and his father the Duke. Issy had loved Gio and felt so incredibly sad because Gio’s relationship with his father and mother was horrible. His parents had used him as a pawn. His father tormented and yelled at him and his mother neglected him. Because of her love for him at age 17 she on particular night when he had argued with his father Issy went to him and blatantly told him she wanted him. In one heated moment he took her virginity. She told him she loved him and he dismissed her with cruel words. He didn’t regret his decision to walk away because she had been so romantic and so very young.

Now years later, Gio was back in England restoring the manor he inherited. Issy was running a theater company and its existence was threatened due to the lack of funds. And then they were reunited in a most bizarre way. Oh what a reunion! Gio literally rescued her from a disastrous situation. When he saw her scantly dressed, he thought she was a stripper and everything in the room sizzled! Then he kissed her and offered her money because he misunderstood her profession. However, feeling proud, Issy parted with angry words exchanged with Geo.

However, when she realized there were no other options available and only one way to save her theater company, she went to ask Gio for financial assistance and without realizing it, her fate was sealed! What Issy didn’t know was that Gio was worth millions and a very successful architect in Florence, Italy. Gio had a plan and he convinced her she must return to Italy with him to sign the papers which would rescue her theater.

Gio’s plan was to bed Issy because he was so attracted to her and not because of the business arrangement between them. He actually tricked her into returning home with him to his villa. Being with her was amazing and he was determined not to let her go especially after they made love. As much as Issy didn’t want to admit it, she was excited because like Gio she wanted the passion and sincerely believed she could survive it while keeping her heart intact. Wrong on all counts!

The passion was overwhelming for both of them and Issy drove him crazy with all of her questions about his past and her determination to get the answers. His past was just that, the past and he didn’t want to let her in, he only wanted to make love to her and keep her there with him. Days flew by and a chain of events happened that were powerfully overwhelming for them both which involved his Italian family who wanted to get to know him and be a part of his life. Gio resisted and Issy insisted and they went to a family gathering which was extremely hard for him. And then everything came tumbling out, his relationship with his parents, everything because this stubborn woman wouldn’t let up. Then she made the mistake of telling Gio she loved him. However, he couldn’t return that love, words were exchanged and she returned home to England.

Would Gio and Issy get their second chance? Not until Gio realized that Issy who had always been there for him, loved him with such a strength and she filled all of the “empty spaces” that had been in his life. Unfinished Business with the Duke was a beautifully crafted and extremely enjoyable romance about love, acceptance, healing of the heart and second chances.

Public Affair, Secretly Expecting is amazingly sensual and the affair between the handsome Irish actor Mac Brody and the English shopgirl, Juno absolutely sizzles off of the pages.

In Hot Shot Tycoon, Indecent Proposal the reader was introduced to Connor Brody and Daisy and their close friend Juno. Now in this book Juno is determined to help her two best friends by physically demanding Connor’s brother Mac attend their upcoming wedding. This determined young woman meets his flight at Heathrow and demands he listens to her. However, Mac thinks a photographer is recognizes him and so he grabs Juno and kisses her. To both of their surprises the kiss knocks them both sideways. However, there are secrets in Mac and Connor’s childhood which prevent Mac from agreeing to attend and wedding and Juno returns empty handed.

Mac is not the only one with secrets as six years earlier Juno had a horrible experience with a man and it’s taken her this long to get over it. She’s miffed that Mac wouldn’t attend but the kiss reawakened something in her and she decides to make an effort with her life and her appearance. On the Brody’s wedding day she absolutely sparkles and is beautiful but then there is a wedding crasher in the form of Mac Brody and he’s there not for his brother because he can’t forget the woman nor the kiss and he’s determined to see Juno.

As only Heidi Rice can pen, the story, the attraction and the romance becomes intensely passionate and these two are drawn to each other and so as with most love stories they act on their attraction at Mac’s hotel suite. Of course the press get wind of their one night stand and so Mac feels the only way to put a stop to it and have a little more time with Juno is to wisk her away to his home in the US at Laguna Beach.

I was actually breathless while reading this book, just reading how Juno opens up to Mac, how they both interact, how they both share their secrets, how close they become and then everything comes crashing down. Like the Laguna surf, it’s a wave that knocks them down, makes them dust themselves off and in the end get that wonderful and special happy ending because of forgiveness and trust. It’s a sensual ride you won’t want to lose the opportunity of reading.

Again, Heidi Rice has outdone herself with this amazing contemporary romance Pleasure, Pregnancy and a Proposition. The title is literally the story as the very sexy Luke and the spirited Louisa meet and can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. Their sexual attraction for each other is extremely strong.

The reader immediately knows there’s going to be a problem when Luke shows up at Louisa’s office because he suspects she might be carrying his child. When this is confirmed, he insists they head out to his country home to sort things out. Let’s just say the heat is turned up a notch as they try to determine what should be done and of course they each have their own ideas on how they should proceed. Just prepare your self for their arguments and their passion.

I adored Louisa’s character, she has a passion for her job as a writer for a woman’s magazine, a passion for life itself and no one is going to tell her what to do, not her father nor the extremely handsome and wealthy Luke Devereaux. You just immediately know this couple are meant to be together but their journey is spirited and very rocky at times.

Luke Devereaux’s passion for Louisa leaps off the pages. However, his secrets and his coming to terms with his past will have you in tears. For Pleasure, Pregnancy and a Proposition was indeed a pleasure to read.

Review:

I really should know better than to judge a book by its blurb or title! When I got hold of the book, I expected a light, fun read but Heidi Rice surprised me with a debut novel that far exceeded my expectations. The first few pages had me laughing out loud and when the hero read a letter from his sister-in-law and brother whom he hasn't seen in 20 years, that was it. I was emotionally sucked in!

Monroe Latimer is not your typical rich, strutting hero but a wounded one who's doing his best to overcome the worst that life has thrown at him. As for the heroine, you just cannot help but love the feisty and sweet Jessie Connor. I don't ask a lot of the books I read but that they make me feel and this one definitely did. There were unexpected twists to the story and enjoyable secondary characters too.

Overall a wonderful read and an excellent debut effort.
