Charity's nomadic childhood has left her itching to settle down, and she immediately falls in love with all the storybook town has to offer—everything, that is, except its sexiest and most famous resident, former world-class cyclist Josh Golden. With her long list of romantic disasters, she's not about to take a chance on another bad boy, even if everyone else thinks he's perfect just the way he is. But maybe that's just what he needs—someone who knows the value of his flaws. Someone who knows that he's just chasing perfect.

♥♥♥♥♥

Chasing Perfect by New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery was a charming and spectacular read about a small town named Fools Gold, California, a town that had more women then men, a town with people who cared about and helped each other. A town determined not to go under and to succeed because the town needed to band together under the guidance of their major, city planner, and the town hero to make sure they could bring new businesses into their community and along with that…… men!

After reading a few chapters I was immediately drawn into the story due to very strong main and secondary characters. As with all of Mallery’s books, Chasing Perfect was no different because the main theme was about family, friendships, love and home. I also found this particular story had secrets, twists, turns, and even some suspense. Chasing Perfect did not disappoint me, it made me not want the story to end nor have to wait for the next books in the upcoming series.

Charity Jones, the heroine of the book was a strong and sweet woman and was brought to Fools Gold by the major and hired as the city planner. From the very beginning one had the feeling there was going to be something going on between Charity and the major. It was later revealed that Charity was the major’s grand daughter. It was a very moving story. As it turned out the mayors daughter ran away from home and Charity never knew she had a family. Her mother went from town to town and from one man to another. Because of her mother, it was important Charity to have roots. So when it was revealed to her that she had a grandmother she was over joyed.

However, the town hero and bad boy Josh Golden was amazing. Josh was a retired professional bike racer and someone the town adored. When his mother abandoned him at a very young age, the town took him in and made sure he was OK. A home and family was found for Josh, a family who loved and nurtured him with the town looking on.. Fools Gold adored Josh and what his fame brought to their town.

Chasing Perfect was a brilliant first book in the series. It could also be considered a stand alone book. However, after perusing the author’s website, reading about the town of Fools Gold, the next two books in the series (names)I can’t imagine why anyone would not want to collect the entire Fools Gold collection.

For me, this author never fails to deliver a lively and entertaining read and I can always count on the story being a sensual one but most importantly one about family and the sense of belonging. Chasing Perfect was no different, it made me feel warm and fuzzy all over!

Once he had Annie playing his pretend mistress, Duncan needed to make her his real-life lover. Could a grouchy CEO cultivate the charm necessary to win the woman he'd almost destroyed?

Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

High Powered, Hot Blooded written by the New York Times best selling author, the enchanting Susan Mallery is a perfect holiday romance. It’s the type of book you’ll need to read in one seating because it’s Mary Poppins meets Scrooge and it’s so about love, family, trust and happy endings.

Duncan Patrick is a high powered, successful and ruthless millionaire and he’s furious because one of his employees has embezzled $250,000. He goes looking for Tim McCoy and instead of finding Tim he meets his sister, Annie. He finds her sweet and the perfect woman to help him change his image as suggested by his uncle and the board of directors. The very same ruthless image the press has been reporting lately. So, he offers the sweet kindergarten teacher an offer she can’t refuse, be his date and act like his girlfriend by attending holiday functions and he’ll apply the money to repay half of her brother’s debt. Part of the deal is to keep Tim out of jail so Duncan pays and sends him to rehab for his gambling problem. What Duncan doesn’t count on is how much of an impact she’ll have on his life.

Annie McCoy was one of the most charming characters I think I’ve read all year. Her sense of taking care of her family will warm your heart, especially at this time of year. Since her mother passed away, she’s basically raised her brother, and cousins and also has an exchange student and the girls living with her. Plus she helps to pay for their college and food and provides a home for them. So now she has this dilemma, she’s agreed to be Duncan Patrick’s Holiday date and finds him to be more than a boss. What neither counts on is their attraction for each other and then they take it a step further to becoming lovers. Annie realizes she has no future with Duncan because he’s already had one bad marriage and she sees through his toughness and finds him a caring, sweet and very handsome man, the very same man she loves.

Duncan definitely doesn’t want to hurt Annie and really appreciates her efforts in changing his image. He also believes her to be a woman with a big heart and from time to time his soft side is shown when he does special things for her family but one definitely knows that for him because of his past with his mother and ex-wife leaving him, he’s not going to take another chance at love. However, as one might expect, Christmas wishes due come true and to reveal them would ruin the book so I highly suggest you read this beautiful love story or purchase it for a friend because is truly a lovely holiday romance.

“For my hero Duncan Patrick the holidays aren’t the least bit special. He doesn’t believe in tradition or family or even being nice to anyone. He doesn’t see the point. For him, life is all about the bottom line. He’s been so successful, he’s completely lost what really matters.

Now Annie isn’t looking for a powerful, determined, stubborn guy to warm her nights. But that’s exactly who she’s going to get. I think she’ll thank me later.” Susan Mallery

Title: HOT ON HER HEELS (Lone Star Sisters) - Susan Mallery

The S-Factor:   Sizzling

Back-Blurb:

Twenty years ago, Garth Duncan swore revenge on Jed Titan for abandoning Garth and his mother. Now he's back to fulfill that promise, even if Jed's daughters get caught in the crosshairs. All that stands between him and his goal is Dana, her gun and a growing passion that can't be denied….

Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

Author Susan Mallery has crafted an emotional and very moving book, the last in her Lone Star Sister series, HOT ON HER HEELS. It was the two characters who drew me into this incredible story, Dana and Garth. Like all of Mallery’s books, the message is about family, friends, trust and love as only she can pen.

In the first three books one is introduced to the head of the Titan family Jed and his beautiful and spirited daughters, Lexi, Skye and Izzy, the three women who took Dana into their home and made her part of the family due to an abusive father. What was so wonderful to read throughout all three books was the love and support the four of them gave each other. So in the end, Hot on Her Heels was about trust, love, family, belonging, believing in those around you and in yourself.

Hot on Her Heels is Garth and Dana story, one that for me personally was an emotional roller coaster. However, Susan’s character development the bantering between the girls and Dana’s smart mouth to Garth had me howling with laughter. The authors humour shines though and it’s no wonder that Hot on Her Heels hit #5 on the New York Times Best Seller list this past week.

Throughout the series there are two apparent factors Jed and his illegitimate son Garth who vows to take down Jed because of what he did to Garth’s mother, Kathy. Garth’s plan is to get to Jed through his daughters so in each book it focuses on each sister, their father and their half brother with Dana in the wings ready to take Garth down. In the end, Garth plans to legally destroy Jed, take his business, home and all assets, everything making sure he goes to jail.

For Dana, Garth was the evil one, he messed with her friends the Titan sisters and she would take him down. She agrees to follow Garth and find out what he’s up to and is amazed also to learn that the youngest Titan sister Izzy is determined to reform Garth, love him and make all of the sisters forgive and bring him into the family. They’ve learned it’s not Garth to fear but their father Jed. The sisters agree with Garth’s but want Dana involved in the investigation to make sure everything is legal.

The story is fast paced in the beginning and things begin to happen quickly, Jed pays Dana a visit, she is run off the road and her rental car shot at. Garth decides to move Dana into his condo because now like his sisters she needs to be protected. Dana’s not sure what to think of the situation because he unsettles her and she likes being in charge. She’s tough, determined and not like the women he’s used to….no make-up, no designer clothes like his sisters and he knows she’s hiding something from her past. But he also realizes in the end what he wants is someone who stands up to him, someone who is a challenge.

Garth was a wonderful addition to the book because at first you hate him and then you forgive him for the way he treated his sisters. Watching him struggle with the “family thing”, learning to interact with his sisters and their husbands was humorous to read and then so was his relationship with Dana as it became more intense and serious. Could this woman who didn’t trust, who was strong be in danger of loosing her heart? And how about Garth, would he take down his father, become a part of a family and would he let his guard down and let Dana in?

Towards the end of the story, as a reader who loves a happy ending, I began to wonder would Garth and Dana find their happy ever after? As much as they seem to be a great couple with incredible chemistry, there are many obstacles they both face. Dana struggles with the fact that the women he has dated are models, socialites who wear designer clothes where she hasn’t worn a dress in years. With the love and support of the Titan sisters, they help her with some of those issues. However, it’s constant in her mind that Jed reminded her she would never fit in because she was “white trash”. Then on top of everything else she meets Garth’s ex-fiancĂ© and again questions her place in his life. Does she dare take a chance, risk heartbreak and when she figures it out, tell him how she feels?

But the same applies to Garth because for most of his life he has had to trust himself and has only had one friend he could count on. Like Dana he has a past, one that left both physical and mental scars plus a mother because of a tumour would never be the same as Jed Titan refused financial help years earlier. Vengeance at what cost and would it is worth it? For Garth, love doesn’t factor into the equation as he tells his sister. Prepare yourself, there will be lots of tears shed while reading this love story, especially in the final chapters.

Again, Susan Mallery has written such a beautiful, intense and wonderful story. It’s undoubtingly one I will cherish and long remember.

Behind the Book (A Border’s Interview)

Question: Scene you like most and would never cut:
“Hmm…I’m not sure there’s one scene in particular that I love the most, but there are a lot of scenes that I loved. The first kiss ranks high, of course. The realization that the heart is in danger, that sort of combination of panic and giddiness.

The scenes that mean the most to me are those scenes that show internal growth. Love changes a person, and I like to see those changes. One of my favorite scenes in HOT ON HER HEELS comes about midway through the book. Dana has never been a girly-girl. She prides herself on her toughness and her ability to take care of herself no matter what happens. She doesn’t do dresses or high heels. But then Garth invites her to be his date for a fancy benefit.

Despite her best intentions, Dana is falling for Garth, which feels as scary to her as falling backward from the roof of a Dallas skyrise. She wants him to like her, wants almost desperately for him to look at her with that special fire in his eyes that a man gets when a woman dresses up for him. For the first time in her life, she wants to be feminine. So she calls the best fashion expert she knows, Lexi Titan. Pregnant Lexi takes great delight in playing fairy godmother to Dana’s Cinderella. That scene was a lot of fun to write… and the scene in which Garth sees Dana in her finery was probably even more fun!” Susan Mallery

THE SHEIK AND THE BOUGHT BRIDE (Desert Rogue Series) - Susan Mallery

Author: Susan Mallery

Line: Silhouette Special Edition

Release month UK/ North America: October 2009

The S-Factor: Sizzling and Sensual

Back-Blurb:

It was bad enough being hauled out of bed by palace guards. Now Victoria McCallan had just offered to pay off her father's gambling debts—with herself as the prize! So the palace secretary was shocked when sexy Prince Kateb made her a counteroffer….

When Kateb whisked Victoria off to the desert to be his mistress for six months, the widowed ruler had no intention of falling in love. But the outspoken Texas transplant was soon tempting him to change his royal ways. Duty decreed the El Deharia sheik should wed a proper mate, but Kateb's heart was telling him something else: to claim Victoria as his woman—now and forever.

Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

Author Susan Mallery in her dedication to her Editor thanks her for letting her “write the book of her heart”. Quite honestly I sincerely believe it was the very best in her entire Desert Rogue series and a perfect ending to her sheik series. For me personally it was bittersweet as for three years I’ve been enjoying the series immensely.

What makes these books so different from others in the sheik genre is the author. Susan’s humour always shines through in her stories, her heroines are NOT faint at heart, they are strong, spirited and intelligent women. Her sheiks are very proud and honourable. These men for the most part have been educated in England or the US as their father’s were Kings in their particular region, their mother had passed away or their father had remarried.

The Sheik and the Bought Bride opens with Victoria McCallan’s father cheating in a card game. When he is threatened he will be imprisoned, his daughter Victoria who works at the palace offers to take the place of her father. Before her mother died, she made her a promise that she would always look out for her dad. Victoria stands by her word, her promise and first and foremost she’s a very honourable woman. When it’s decided that she will become Sheik’ Kateb’s mistress in place of her father going to jail, for Kateb and Victoria their journey begins and just like the heat in the desert, it’s hot!

As the reader learns early on, Sheik Kateb is soon to become the ruler of his desert nation and he’s unmarried. At one time he married his childhood friend who died in an Italian car accident. He’s been single for five years and his people want him to eventually marry. One also learns that this man for the most part has dedicated himself to his people and now faced with this lovely woman who stirs needs he hasn’t felt in a long time, it becomes most interesting reading regarding the interaction between Kateb and Victoria. An example of this and the authors humour is shown in the following: “I’ve never had a mistress before so I don’t have any expectations.” She took the wine without looking at him. “You have a harem.” “It came with the property.” “Sort of like a three-car garage when you only have two cars?” “Something like that”. Obviously, I chuckled throughout the entire book.

Just one kiss for them and it’s all over for both of them. Kateb realizes he’s in trouble and wants to send her back to the palace but when he learns she might be pregnant, it’s determined she cannot leave. However, both of them ponder was there something more powerful or frightening for them both to face as far as their attraction? Kateb also learns a lot about Victoria and realizes she wants nothing for herself and she’s a very complex woman.

Victoria had learned at an early age to take care of herself. Being left alone in the harem she’s no shrinking violet she’s a woman who needs something to do and she takes an interest in the people, especially the women who make beautiful gold jewelry. Being a Western woman, she carefully treads but wants to take their jewelry worldwide and Kateb allows her to present him with a business plan. That’s not all Victoria does, she takes an interest in a child who has been left to live on the streets due to his father’s crime. She a woman who is passionate about life and love, a woman who has only experienced love at the hand of her mother, a woman afraid to love herself. Can you imagine for a woman like this who’s afraid to love, when she realizes that she indeed loves Kateb what this does to her?

It’s the same for sheik Kateb, he cared once for his wife and look what happened, he lost his friend and love. Victoria pulls him in a way no other woman has had the power, but he fights it every way he can. In the end, well let’s just say emotions run high and Kateb realizes he must send Victoria back to the United States but she’s doesn’t want to leave him. It’s an incredible journey, extremely emotional and dramatic ending and very fitting for Mallery’s readers and fans. For us you have loved The Desert Rogue series, The Sheik and the Bought Bride was a perfect last book. My personal thanks to Susan for many, many hours of reading enjoyment!

STRAIGHT FROM THE HIP - Susam Mallery

Author: Susan Mallery

Release month UK/North America: July 2009

The S-Factor: Sexy

Back-Blurb:

Izzy has always been the fearless Titan sister. But when an oil rig blows up, leaving her barely able to see, her sisters find themselves as concerned by her emotional withdrawal as by the possibility that the explosion was no accident. Are the mind games their long-lost brother Garth has been playing turning physical? Or is someone else out to get them?

When her sisters enroll her in a survivor training camp, Izzy is not happy. Nick, her instructor, is determined that she won't be left in the dark. In more ways than one. But if he tells her the terrible truth behind why he's helping her, he'll never see her again. Unless they're both willing to take the biggest risk of all.

Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

An amazing cast of characters and an extremely powerful and potent love story as only Susan Mallery can write! This is the youngest sister's Izzy's story where in Lip Service we learn Izzy has been involved in an explosion which has caused her severe vision problems. On top of that, her new found step brother is thought to be the cause as he wants not only to take down her father but the three Titan sisters as well.

I can't say enough positive things about this series, The Lone Star Sisters. Once you begin to read them you'll certainly understand and each book keeps one wanting more which surely is a sign of how talented Susan Mallery is and what's made her loved by this particular reader and reviewer and put her on the New York Times Bestseller list.

Izzy of all the Titan sisters seems the most spirited so when she's kidnapped by the strong, sexy Nick and taken to his ranch, she feels "like she's been tossed out in the trash". How could her sisters do this to her? She can't see, has no home or inheritance like her sisters and now a stranger is taking her, trying to talk her into having surgery which could leave her blind and on top of everything else wants her to work on his ranch taking care of his horses.

The cast of characters from Nick, to his gay PA Aaron, his cook and Rita who is in charge of the stables, are quite the group. Then add to the mix her horrible father Jed Titan, her out for revenge brother Garth who has a friendship with Nick, her beautiful sisters, Lexi and Skye and friend Dana, its fabulous is all I can say.

Life has dealt Izzy lemons in the form of a father who only wants to use her, a dead mother whom when alive never gave her the time of day and now she could possibly live in darkness for the rest of her life even if she has the surgery. However, she turns everything into lemonade and on top of it all falls in love with Nick who has secrets and is tormented by his past.

It's more than a love story; it's a story about why love is important. As Mallery says "love is the only thing that makes us strong. It's all that matters in the end. Who we love and who loves us."

When Nick and Garth's past are revealed it makes one understand why it's hard for Nick to love but only casts more mystery on Garth and why he's out to hurt his sisters even though it's not hard to understand why he wants to take Jed Titan down. However, in the end one gets a glimpse of what the fourth book in the series, Hot on Her Heels is going to be about and I can't wait!

But will Mitch be able to put the past aside to help Skye get out from under her father's thumb…and help himself recover from a broken heart?

Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

New York Times best selling author Susan Mallery continues to amaze with her second in the Long Star Sisters series, Lip Service which is Skye’s story, the middle Titan sister. The reader was introduced in May to all three sisters who share a father in Under Her Skin. One also learned they had an illegitimate brother Garth who has only revenge on his mind and has vowed to take the entire family down. To use adjectives like amazing or brilliant don’t even describe how wonderful the second book is and waiting until July for Straight from the Hip is going to be torture.

Skye is the dutiful daughter of Jed Titan and she hopes one day to inherit the family home and have her father finally tell her he loves her. Nine years earlier instead of marrying the boy next door, who she loved deeply, she married a much older man her father arranged for his own selfish reasons and a sweet daughter Erin came from that marriage. Now she’s a widow, hosting her father’s business parties and again, Jed wants to marry and threatens her because he’s aware that her exlover is back in town and he’ll destroy Mitch and his ranch if need be; trust me you’ll want to strangle Jed Titan and take him down yourself.

Skye’s and Mitch’s story was lovely to read because in the end as only Susan Mallery can pen it’s about what’s important in life and that’s family, love and a real home, not one like Jed Titan is dangling and manipulating his daughters to believe they want. The reader literally watches Skye become stronger and realize that she and Erin can have a happy life with Mitch and their love story was incredibly beautiful.

Susan Mallery has written wonderful family stories which I’ve read throughout the years and some of them have sincere patriotisms as she relates tales of honour and valour for the men and women who serve in our Armed Forces and who give up their lives or come home injured fighting for our Country. That was the case with Mitch Cassidy who has returned nine years later missing part of his leg and with a real chip on his shoulder. It’s the people who assisted raising him and maintaining the ranch and Skye’s daughter Erin who help him to heal. It was sad to read about his ordeal and his final acceptance through therapy, group sessions and finally forgiving Skye and realizing he still loved her and her daughter. In the end, I was cheering for both Mitch and Skye because they stood up to Jed Titan.

The Titan sisters Lexi, Skye and Izzy have one common thread they love and are devoted to each other and the fact they all want their father’s affection. Love is the common theme in both books, how it can heal and how much stronger the three sisters are because of it!

Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

Under Her Skin, the first book in author Susan Mallery’s Lone Star Sister’s series was literally amazing; full of passion, family secrets and very emotional. You will fall in love with the very beautiful Lexi and her sisters Skye and Izzy and their close friend Dana. Each woman has one thing they’re searching for and Lexi’s is revealed in this book. It’s to be acknowledged for her business savvy by her father, have his love and have him admit they are a family.

Their town Titanville was founded by her family and her father runs a very successful corporation which Lexi walked away from. He has also challenged his girls to compete for the family business holdings and their family home, Glory Gate, and the sister who wins, wins it all! Lexi is interested in Titan’s corporation while her sister Skye is only interested in the family home. It’s amazing to see how this competition has not destroyed the sister’s relationship and you will love how they band together and how close they are as Lexi had a different mother than Skye and Izzy. And now Lexi is in trouble and stands to loose her spa business because of an anonymous loan which is now being called in. Add to the mix when they find out they have a brother unknown to them who wants to take them down!

Cruz and Lexi have a past, one night of passion years ago when they met under unusual circumstances. Cruz was racing to win at all costs, pink slips and Lexi that evening was daring as well and experienced an incredible night with Cruz. Only to be hurt the next morning when he walked away. Cruz has come up the hard way and is now worth millions. However, there are social doors still closed to him and that’s why he’s decided to attend Lexi’s sister Skye’s charity and renew his friendship with Lexi. He sees her as a way to get ahead and when he hears about her need for two million to pay off her loan, he makes a deal…..the money for society introductions. To make everything look real she must move in with him, become engaged and help him get the social connections he needs.

Lexi and Cruz have so many secrets and obstacles to get past and to come to terms with and it’s this journey and her love for him, her sister’s and friend Dana’s support that make her get through it all. Lexi’s past with her father have put up all sorts of barriers, can she let herself love and what if she’s not loveable back? However with Cruz she could be herself.

For Cruz, he has so many scars from his youth which his father caused for he and his mother and he’s afraid to give his heart. His realization that he can have it all with Lexi and coming to terms about their pasts will have one in tears. Again, Susan Mallery does not disappoint with this wonderful story, extremely interesting characters and so many lessons to be learned…..trust, love and believing in oneself! Thank you Susan Mallery!

“What if you got another chance at the life that got away?”

I can personally attest that Sunset Bay by New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery is a book for all women of all ages. It’s also Susan’s debut into women’s fiction and I hope she continues on this path. I can only say I was personally blown away and cried my heart out! While reading this incredible story I was forced to take a personal look at myself and ask the question some of us are afraid to ask concerning my dreams. Have I accomplished them or some where along the way, were they lost?

We all make personal choices for love, for family and for friends and sometimes along the way we loose a part of ourselves. Books like this exceptional story remind us, give us a wake up call and hopefully we can learn from stories like this and grow because of them.

The character Megan Greene in Sunset Bay was difficult for me to read because of the family dynamics……her spoiled sister, her doting father and her very selfish and verbally abusive mother. As usual, Susan Mallery interjects humour into her storyline but makes this so believable you want to stand up and yell at them all while laughing and crying at the same time. But it was Megan’s courage I adored and in the end the decisions she made on a personal level.

Megan’s first love was Travis, the high school bad boy who also came from a physically abusive family. Travis is so passionate and honourable and for me sort of a knight in shining armour. He is also dark and edgy and at times afraid of his feelings for Megan. Their history is well let’s say sweet and yet in the end very emotional; it’s a love story about second chances.

All of the characters in Sunset Bay are unique, from Megan’s immediate family, to her special friends, Travis, and her cheating doctor fiancĂ©. When a secret is revealed which eventually rips her family apart you will certainly be shocked.

If you believe in dreams coming true and second chances then I encourage you to read Mallery’s Sunset Bay because I sincerely believe this book will win many awards, it’s that special.

Behind the Story: "The heroine came to me one Saturday afternoon while I was watching Project Runway. (I’m obsessed with Project Runway.) With great excitement, I told my agent all about this quirky, artsy girl. Megan was one of those kids who could take an outfit from ordinary to awesome with nothing but scissors and some thread. She saw art in fabric and texture, put together odd combinations that shouldn’t have worked but did.

What would happen to a girl like that, I wondered, if she bowed to family pressure and got a “sensible” job? And how would she feel about a sister who rejected sensibility to pursue her own crazy dream?" A quote from Susan on a recent blog post at TRRC, post here.

. . .but it's not as easy as it looks.

And how can she, when she's face-to-face with Riley at every turn? The one time bad boy has come back to town seeking respectability-but the sparks that fly between them are anything but respectable! Gracie's determined to keep her distance, but when someone sets out to ruin both their reputations, the two discover that first love is sometimes better the second time around.

Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

Falling for Gracie was a warm and spirited book. It was refreshing to read a romance filled with humour, warmth and strong characters. There were many lessons to be learned in this book a few being honesty, integrity and the art of communication. A very sensual romance, one I will read, over and over.

Gracie's character was strong, spirited, fun, intelligent, and warm even though her family had sent her adrift. She will charm her way into your heart.

Riley, how does one describe an alpha male at his finest? Tall, dark, handsome, aloof and because his past...mistrusting, tormented and angry.

How Gracie and Riley come together begins with their knowing each other in the past but now they meet again and sparks fly, while the entire town looks on and becomes involved in their romance.

I highly recommend this book. It is one of Susan Mallery's finest.

But then Qadir made her an offer she should have refused. It was meant to be a temporary engagement…until Maggie discovered she was pregnant. Now Qadir was honor-bound to give Maggie and her child the protection of his name. He never expected her to sweep him off his feet.Would there be a royal wedding after all?

Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

When it comes to sheik books, Susan Mallery is at the top of the list. Her latest March release The Sheik and the Pregnant Bride I think is my favourite of all her Desert Rogue series.

Maggie Collins was not only lovely, she was full of spirit, sass and on top of everything else a top notch mechanic especially in restoring expensive top of the line cars. Maggie had grown up without a mother and was extremely close to her father who owned an auto body shop. Her father had been hired by Prince Qadir of El Deharia to restore his vintage car but upon Mr. Collins death and mountains of bills to pay, Maggie comes in her father’s place. From the moment they meet they are both drawn to each other not in a sexual way but one of friendship, trust and they just plain like each other.

Prince Qadir's father the King has a specific mission and that’s to marry off each of his sons. The King is constantly parading eligible young women in hopes of marrying off his sons and having grandchildren. Prince Qadir has no plans to get married so he comes up with a plan, he wants to hire Maggie to be his girlfriend and then pretend to be his fiancĂ©. Everything back fires because they both develop more than a friendship; they develop a passionate relationship, one that knocks them both sideways. Maggie not’s sure how to feel about the relationship.

As for experience, Maggie has only known one man, Jon a boy she grew up with in Colorado, dated in high school, they had a short intimate relationship, more to ease the pain of being alone, especially after her father passed away. Now Maggie finds herself pregnant with Jon’s baby and on top of everything else, Jon is in love with someone else and Maggie’s extremely attracted to Qadir. It becomes an emotional mess for all people concerned!

This was such a fun story to read….and I adored Maggie. She actually reminds me of the author, Susan Mallery. She is charming, has quick wit, and gives as good as she gets. Prince Qadir was a fabulous character as well and you will love to see him brought to his knees by the lovely Maggie.

If you love sheikh books then you will not want to miss reading Susan’s The Sheik and the Pregnant Bride.

The Sheikh And The Christmas Bride - Susan Mallery

Title: THE SHEIKH AND THE CHRISTMAS BRIDE

Author: Susan Mallery

Line: Silhouette Special Edition

Release month: North America/UK/Australia November 2007

The S-Factor: Simmering / Sweet

Back-Blurb:

From royal nanny to princess bride?Dedicated teacher Kayleen James was determined to safeguard the future of her orphaned students—even if it meant defying Prince As'ad of El Deharia himself! But the seductive ruler stunned her by offering to adopt the three little girls. On one condition…Suddenly As'ad was a single father in desperate need of a nanny, and Kayleen was the only woman for the job. Soon the palace was in an uproar—all because of the spirited redhead. Losing his heart wasn't part of the arrangement, until Kayleen showed the honor-bound sheik what he'd been missing. Could he convince her that she belonged in his exotic desert kingdom as his princess—and his wife?
Review:

Susan Mallery has again charmed her readers with her latest edition to her Desert Rogue series. The heroine Kayleen will warm the reader’s heart with her gentleness, sincerity, innocence and fierce heart. Mallery has the ability to immediately draw the reader into the story with her first chapters when we’re introduced to this lovely teacher in a orphanage who is like a lioness protecting three recently orphaned girls and goes after the leader of a tribe who has come to take the girls back to their camp.

In most of the Desert Rogue series the rulers are trying to marry off their sons and obtain heirs and in The Sheikh and the Christmas Bride, the same applies. King Makhtar has six sons and wants them married and settled. His sons have been raised without the benefit of a mother and their Aunt Lina for the most part has been the “mother figure” in their lives. She is aware that in a neighbouring Kingdom, King Hassan has been very successful in marrying off his sons and daughters. She calls upon her friendship and attraction to King Hassen to develop a plan for her nephew Prince As’ad. When there is trouble at the orphanage she calls upon As’ad to help defuse the situation. She talks him into taking the three girls himself into his protection and suggests he adopts them. Along with bringing the girls to the palace, Lina suggests he brings Kayleen as well as their nanny.

As this story develops, one is immediately drawn to the attraction both As’ad and Kayleen feel for each other. As’ad vows never to love a woman, as it would make him weak. However, he cannot fight his attraction for this lovely redhead and moves in, takes her virginity and then all hell breaks loose.
Kayleen knows what it’s like to be orphaned, rejected both by her mother and grandmother, she’s grown up in a convent and longs to belong, have a family and be loved. When As’ad proposes they marry because of their one night and attraction for each other plus giving the girls stability, Kayleen dares to believe she can have it all. Because of her inner strength, and her love for As’ad she is fierce to prove they can have it all and she is going to show him and claim this prince as her own.
Their journey and discovery is one you won’t want to miss. It’s the perfect holiday read, a wonderful love story and the continuation of the incredible Desert Rogue series. I personally can’t wait for the next book!

In Bed With The Devil by Susan Mallery

Title: In Bed With The Devil
Author: Susan Mallery
Line: Silhouette Desire
Release month: North America, UK / Australia: August 2007
The S-Factor: Sizzling
Back-Blurb:
Millionaire of the Month: Jack Howington III
Source of Fortune: International Security Corporation
The woman he can never have: Meredith Palmer
When he arrived at Hunter's Landing, Jack got the surprise of his life. His best friend's shy little sister had become a breathtaking young woman—with an ax to grind. Still smarting over Jack's long- ago rejection, Meredith was now intent on luring the mogul into her bed…and her bed was right across the hall. At what cost would Jack keep a decade-old promise?
Review:

Jack Howington III is sexy as sin, handsome as the Devil, and determined not to let any woman get to him let alone the sister of his departed best friend. He has come to Lake Tahoe to stay for a month at Hunter’s Landing. If he stays the entire time, the property along with the home will go to charity and help families.
Jack feels he let his friend down and was the cause of his death. He promised to watch over his sister Meredith upon his death but Jack watches from a far because there are too many memories, memories of a genius young teenager who loved and adored him. Therefore, when he arrives at the Tahoe home and finds Meri there he is speechless.
Meri has an axe to grind, she wants to seduce Jack and then walk away because she felt abandoned when her brother Hunter passed away and was left with no mother, no friends, no family and most of all no Jack. As a teen, Meri was over weight, thought her nose too big, had the IQ of a genius and no one other than her brother so when she sees Hunter she becomes determined to make him pay and seduces him.
At first, Jack is not game but she wears him down. She desires to rid herself of her feelings for Jack so she can move on to her boyfriend Andrew. Therefore, when Andrew appears on the doorstop, she is doubly confused and then becomes irate when Jack has Andrew investigated and exposes the snake for what he is…….a lying and conniving con man.
However, what hurts Meri even more is to find out that Jack never took his promise to her brother Hunter seriously and instead of taking some time to see if she’s was ok after Hunter died, he just had his team and some investigators watch her to make sure she was ok and that men were not using her for her wealth. She expected more of him and he let her down.
Readers will grow to love Meri…..her strength and determination to make a new life, to loose those pounds, have a little surgery to give her some confidence, reach out and make friends and most of all take care of her “nerdy” team of scientists. You’ll also learn to appreciate her “nerdy” team, how she takes care of them and how they respond when Jack spills the beans about Andrew. As for Jack, you’ll want to reach out and love him and make him see the light. Your heart will break for Jack because he can’t let anyone see the “truth about him, not the emptiness of his heart nor the darkness of his soul.”
In Bed with the Devil was the last story in Millionaire of the Month….”bound by the terms of a will, six wealthy bachelors discover the ultimate inheritance”. Again, Susan Mallery delivers an extremely entertaining, sensitive and at times humorous read. Even though I have not read the entire series, I think In Bed with the Devil tied all of the seven “Samuari” brothers into one final and neat package.

Tempting by Susan Mallery

Title: Tempting
Author: Susan Mallery
Line: HQN

Release month: North America, UK and Australia: July
The S-Factor: Sizzling and simmering
Back-Blurb:
After three romantic flame-outs in a year and a restaurant career going nowhere, Dani Buchanan needs a fresh start. She goes looking for her biological father, but never expects to find a senator running for president. As his long-lost "love child," Dani could seriously derail the election—something his handsome campaign manager Alex Canfield isn't going to let happen. Dani isn't about to let Alex run her life, no matter how tempting she finds him—and Alex isn't going to allow Dani to melt his cynicism, no matter how close he has to get. The last thing either of them wants is love, especially with scandals brewing and family trouble on the way. But Dani and Alex are forced to trust each other, and when trust turns to passion, the potential for disaster is only a tabloid scandal away.
Review:

Tempting was just that from the moment Dani Buchanan entered the Senator’s office to find out if he was her biological father. What she didn’t expect was to run head on into the handsome and sexy Alex Canfield, the Senator’s adoptive son. Dani’s luck with men during the past few years was a disaster……a failed marriage, a cheating and lying married man; she was his victim, and then meeting an ex-priest, what a mess. So Dani decided she would swear off men and would concentrate on her new job and finding out if Senator Canfield was her biological father.
The only way to describe this book was an emotional one for me and the end of Susan Mallery’s incredible Buchanan family series. The past books sum up my thoughts, Delicious, Irresistible and Sizzling. In each former book you meet Dani’s strong and callous Grandmother Gloria and her three brothers, Cal, Walker and Reid all of whom are involved in Buchanan Enterprises and run a chain of restaurants, a coffee company and a sports bar.

Dani you’ll learn is the only family member other than her sister-in-law Penny in having a career with Buchanan Enterprises. The others are blackmailed by their “nasty” grandmother Gloria into helping save the business and when Gloria becomes seriously ill, they all rise to the cause and pitch in to help out Cal takes over the Waterfront Restaurant, Walker runs the corporation, Reid moves into to the mansion to help out with Gloria and her recovery. However, Dani is hurt that all of her years trying to impress her Grandmother have been for nothing. In the end when Gloria strikes out and tells Dani, she’s not really a Buchanan and that her mother had an affair and she was the product of it, she’s plain and simply devastated.
Of course, she takes stock in her life, swears off men, begins a new job in a new restaurant and sets out to find out who she is with her brothers and sister-in-laws giving her the love and support she needs. During this “discovery” time, her Grandmother realizes with the help of her nurse that she needs to appreciate her family and Gloria rises to the cause, by making amends with her grandsons, their wives and makes strides to mend her relationship with her granddaughter, Dani. The bond these two women form will make you weep!
Tempting is about family, trust, temptation, healing and the power of love. But most of all about family and discovery! I applaud Susan Mallery on her very powerful series, one I will long remember!

The Ultimate Millionaire - Susan Mallery

Title: The Ultimate Millionaire

Author: Susan Mallery

Line: Silhouette Desire

Release month: USA and UK: January 2007

The S-Factor: Sizzling!

Back-Blurb:
Todd Aston III's reputation as a playboy preceded him; he wore power as seamlessly as he wore his custom-cut suits. But Marina Nelson had promised her sister—who was marrying Todd's cousin—that she'd help him plan the perfect wedding. And somehow, between tasting cakes and modeling wedding dresses, Marina discovered that she wanted Todd—and that Todd wanted her. She was powerless to prevent the inevitable. Yet the harder she fell for Todd, the more she realized that he didn't trust marriage-minded women.
Which made her grandmother's offer of a million dollars to whichever Nelson sister married him a big problem….

Review:
This final book in the Million Dollar Catch series was the perfect ending to the Nelson sisters and the three strong, handsome and sexy men they fell in love with. Their long lost grandmother Ruth, wealthy in her own right decided she wanted her nephew Todd Ashton III to be married to one of her granddaughter’s. With only one being left, Marina, since her other sisters had found their own fabulous husbands, would there be the possibility for Marina and Todd to become attracted to each other?

In the first book you meet Ryan and Julie. They are about to be married but have a business planned trip in China so that leaves them asking Julie’s sister Marina and Ryan’s cousin Todd to help them plan the wedding in their absence. Marina has already told her Grandmother she will have one date with Ryan and so they meet to discuss the wedding and agree their first date will actually take place on the wedding day. In the meantime they have a wedding to plan, so what’s so difficult about that? Well, for one, they are both immediately attracted to each other not only sexually but by each other’s intelligence, wit, charm, and agree to enjoy planning this wedding for the family members they both love.
Marina found Todd charming, sexy and definitely a challenge and thought he probably had no depth. She usually dated “safe” men and was afraid to risk her heart and terrified she’d end up like her mother. Her mother had only loved one man and had risked loosing her own parents when ran off and married him. Throughout their growing up years and three Nelson sisters had watched their father come and go and Marina was especially afraid if she fell in love he would break her heart.

Todd on the other hand, grew up wealthy and found at an early age women only wanted him for his money, lied to him and tried to trick him. So he had been burned enough times not to trust. However, upon meeting Marina he took a step back and asked himself when was the last time he had enjoyed a woman’s company?

What neither of them counted on was enjoying each other’s company and finally they shared a week of passion like no other with some humour thrown in for good measure…….food poisoning. Leave it to Susan Mallery to throw in this bit of humour as she’s so well know for in her books…….and passion on top of it all? The chemistry and passion between this couple will just plain blow you away.

In the end, Marina falls hard for Todd. She realizes that in order to find perfect happiness she must risk the pain. For Todd, there is still the trust issue and when he believes that Marina has betrayed him instead of trust he’s angry and cruel. Fear not, Todd Ashton III wakes up and is brought to his knees when he realizes how important this woman has become to him.

In closing, this made me weep……..it’s the wedding toast written by this man who never trusted…….and the lesson he learned…….”The Bible tells us that love is kind. Scholars tell us that love can change the course of history. Scientists tell us that love is chemical. Poets tell us that love is eternal. But true love is so much more than that, it’s about believing and risking. It’s about believing in that one person and that one person believing in you. Love is about hanging on the roller-coaster ride of life. Love is about having faith in yourself and the person you love.” Again, Susan’s gives her readers another valuable lesson and this time about believing in your self and taking a chance…..a chance on love.

The Unexpected Millionaire - Susan Mallery

Title: The Unexpected Millionaire

Author: Susan Mallery

Line: Silhouette Desire

Release month : USA and UK: December 2006

The S-Factor: Sizzling and Sweet

Back-Blurb:
Millionaire Kane Dennison's first mistake had been carrying an injured Willow Nelson inside his home, which, as a rule, was off-limits. Of course, she'd needed his help, but his one kind gesture had her believing he was a nice man. He wasn't.
His second mistake had been surrendering to passion after warning Willow to run away. Because a woman like her deserved better than a one-night stand. She believed in soul mates. He trusted no one—needed no one. And not even Willow was going to change him!

Review:
THE UNEXPECTED MILLIONAIRE is the second book in Susan Mallery’s “The Million Dollar Catch”. It’s not only a passionate love story, it’s full of family dynamics and captivating…..due to Willow and powerful, strong and untouchable Kane.

Kane Dennison was handsome, strong and hard. But most important he didn’t do relationships nor did he ever want to become involved with a woman! All he has ever wanted was solitude and to someday retire to a secluded island. Kane felt to care about someone meant risking his heart…..that a woman might destroy him.

This sexy man is in charge of security for Todd Ashton III and his cousin Ryan, who are both millionaires many times over. What these three men share in common is a meddling woman by the name of Ruth (Todd and Ryan’s aunt and Ryan’s finance’s Julie’s grandmother)…..very complicated! Ruth’s mission in life is to marry off Todd and she offers her granddaughter’s one million dollars.

In the first book in the series, Ryan substitutes himself for Todd and Julie and Ryan fall in love. Now in the second book, there is no chance for Todd……because Willow tries to confront Todd but that doesn’t happen and the result…….Willow and Kane meet and what a mess. So what’s left? The last sister Marina and the Mr. $$$ Todd III; that will be addressed in the last book of the series. So where does this leave us? Willow and Kane’s story.

Enter Willow….caring, sweet, soft, and loveable. She arrives at Todd Ashton’s mansion to tell him off because he has tried to meddle in her sister’s relationship with Ryan. Instead of meeting Todd, she meets his security guard Kane. They argue, tussle and she ends up at his home with the result…..a sprained ankle. Poor Kane, he doesn’t know what’s hit him. During the passing weeks, he mellows and softens and adjusts to having Willow around, when had he ever needed anyone? And then he starts to wonder!

This is a very good read, but also emotional and sweet at the same time. It makes you believe in love and happy every after. Again Susan Mallery has delivered a very powerful romantic read full of love and family dynamics and emotion!
