CAS(E) This Sketch Guest!

Happy news, crafty friends! A week and a half ago, I found out I won the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #39 for this card. So cool, as I don't consider clean-and-simple my strong suit, not by a long shot. Maybe I'm getting the hang of it? If so, props to Reverse Confetti for stamps that lend themselves so well to that style!

A major perk for the win is that I get to be guest designer for this week's challenge, #42!

Here's the new sketch:

For my take, I pulled out Reverse Confetti's I LIKE YOU and WHOLE LOTTA DOTS sets.

I stamped a heart die-cut with the large circle background from WHOLE LOTTA DOTS using white ink, then stamped the "i like you" sentiment on top in black. I attached the card stock heart to a vellum heart and accented with a paper flower and some string. For that horizontal background strip on the sketch, I went with a few horizontal rows of messy machine stitching. On the background panel, some mist and a few enamel dots for interest.

Be sure to head over to the CAS(E) this Sketch blog for loads more inspiration from their super talented design team. When you're ready to play, the linking tool is there, too. I'm looking forward to seeing all the entries this week!

Paper: Papertrey Rustic White card stock, Stampin' Up Sahara Sand card stock, vellum card stock

Ink: black and white pigment inks, Pumice Stone Distress Ink

Accessories: linen string, Verve heart die-cut, sewing machine, Mister Huey mist, foam adhesive, enamel dots, paper flower

August Card Kitchen - Happy Camper, Part 1

Before August gets away from me entirely, I'd love to share with you the cards I created using the August Card Kitchen kit. This month's kit features Jillibean Soup's Happy Camper line, and it was an absolute dream to work with! Here's the first batch:

Are We There Yet?
How many times have you heard that from your kids? How many times have you said it? How many times do you think exactly that while trying to get some crafty project or another to work out "just so"? You'll be "there" in no team with this super easy card! The sign and wagon are die-cuts from the Pea Pods collection. I hand-cut some rolling hills, added a post for the sign, and a simple strip of the arrow pattern for a roadway. And there we are!

Friends 4 Ever
This next one was a tad more layered and involved, but HOW CUTE is this pair??!! I've always been drawn to the blue yellow, and green color combo, and lately anything with gray rocks my world. As soon as I laid this arrangement on that perfect pink pattern, I was in love! It's such a happy color! And that feather pattern? That was a big hit for me this month, too!

Explore the Great Outdoors
Another super easy one. The row of trees and the sentiment are border strips on one of the 12x12 patterns I just cut them down and rearranged slightly. I added the "explore" tab sticker and some adorable wood stars for the perfect extra.

Happiness Is A Way of Travel
When I read this sentiment, well, I had a little catch in my throat. I'm guilty too often of looking for happiness or satisfaction somewhere else instead of finding them right where I am. Happiness is to be lived out every day. It's not some elusive target!
And here we have that happy pink and happy yellow together again, along with the turquoise and gray woodgrain. I just love! And is that camper just the sweetest?! Makes me want to go out and buy one!

Have a happy day!

happiness is ... you

Just a sweet Reverse Confetti card today, a little something to show someone how much he or she means.

The sentiment is built from Arrows 'N Elements ("happiness is ...") and either Dream in Color or I Like You (both sets have the word "you" in that font). The papers are by Crate Paper, and the layout is from Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday #102. I've been itching to play along with this one for almost 2 weeks!

Here's a detail shot, which sure does magnify a wee mis-stamp on the letter "h" (hopefully not too noticeable). I'm not 100% sold on the overhanging "you," but I didn't find any other arrangement I was happier with, so it stays. I've got a little vellum addiction going on at the moment -- that's what the torn strip under the sentiment banner is.

Thanks for visiting me today!

Good Times - Card Mania Challenge Guest

The talented designers at the Card Mania Challenge Blog kindly invited me to join them as a guest designer for their current challenge, which also happens to be their one-year anniversary. Congrats on the milestone, CMC! They are celebrating with lots of prizes, so be sure to head over there for all the details.

The theme this time is super easy and fun: Your Favorite Embellishment. No doubt about it, embellishing is my favorite part of making cards! While I love the trendy enamel dots and mists and sequins, I picked the one staple embellishment that nearly always makes its way onto my cards: buttons.

The darling image, Madeline Sat Night Fever, was graciously provided by the challenge sponsor, Milk N Coffee. I've been itching to color again (my Copics have seen precious little action for nearly a year), so working with one of their sweet images was a bonus! My coloring is quite rusty, though - forgive me.

Hope you'll head over to the Card Mania Challenge blog to view their amazing design team creations and, most important, to play along.

Thanks for visiting!

Reverse Confetti August Blog Hop

Hello August and Hello REVERSE CONFETTI Fans!  It’s the 8th of the month – Blog Hop time! Are you ready to savor some sweet inspiration?  Grab a cuppa and take some time to enjoy this month’s creative Blog Hop from Reverse Confetti.  Last month’s release was fantastic and today we are inspiring you with projects and cards using those stamps and any other previously released stamps from Reverse Confetti.  Along with the Confetti Crew (our fabulous design team), we’ve also invited some extra friends to join in on the action!

The hop started over on the Reverse Confetti blog, and you should have made it here from Amy Kolling’s blog. It would be worth your while to start at the beginning of the hop, so you don’t miss a thing. We have tons of inspiration for you to see using all of Reverse Confetti’s amazing stamp sets!
My card features the adorable CELEBRATE CAKE set. I stamped the ice cream scoop four times in various shades of pink and peach, then trimmed them out and stacked them on a kraft-colored cone. Oh, and I also stamped each cone with one of the polka-dot backgrounds in WHOLE LOTTA DOTS. For the sentiment, I ended up stamping it three times, once on the background, once on the cone, and once on the scoop, then lining everything up during assembly. Behind the sentiment, I added a few extra stamped images for interest: a single row of the large polka dot background from WHOLE LOTTA DOTS and the notebook lines from ARROWS 'N ELEMENTS

My layout is based on the current CAS(e) this Sketch challenge, #39, and the color palette is, once again, inspired by the current Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Watermelon Wonder.

I hope you’ve enjoyed hopping with us today. Be sure and hop with us on the 8th of EVERY MONTH for more REVERSE CONFETTI inspiration! Now it’s time to hop on over to Amy Tsuruta’s blog. If you get lost along the way, you can find the hop order and list of all the participating designers over on the Reverse Confetti blog

How would you like to win some Reverse Confetti goodies of your very own?  Leave a comment on each stop along the way for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to REVERSE CONFETTI. Comments are open until Monday night, August 12th at 11pm CST, and the winner will be announced on the Time for a Card Tuesday post on the 13th over on the Reverse Confetti Blog!

A few things before you hop along though, just to keep you “in the know”…
