You're So Cool - SFYTT

Hello and happy Sunday, friends! Today I'm playing along with Reverse Confetti's June Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT) challenge.

If you haven't played along, you can find all the rules and the link-up HERE on the Reverse Confetti blog. You have until noon CST June 29th to play along.

And here's what I came up with:

I thought the Let's Chill popsicles would be perfect for the three circles on the sketch. The popsicle handles even remind me of the three green tabs! I layered the popsicles over some American Crafts Dear Lizzie Happy Place patterned papers, stamped a sentiment from the Let's Chill stamp set along the bottom, and finished with a liberal sprinkling of sequins in the popsicle colors.

The popsicle die comes in three pieces -- the popsicle body, the handle, and the pair of rectangles that give that traditional popsicle look. Instead of using the rectangles as cut-outs, I die-cut a scrap of transparency, which I used as a stencil to ink in the popsicle markings.

I adore the gorgeous sun and clouds in Betsy's What the Doodle: Sun! I used one of the coloring pages here, and colored with Copics. The sentiment is from Inspired: Grace, and the card base was cut with the Noted: Scalloped A1 die.

Betsy's Paper Clippings series just gets more and more fun! I love this month's birthday theme! I stamped a Paper Clippings: Birthday die-cut with the Paper Clippings: Birthday stamps for this one. Surprisingly easy to line up! The stitched outer frame layer and the stitched rectangle were done with the Double Ups: Rectangles.

The flowers and leaves in Betsy's Graceful Greetings II set are a new favorite, and the sentiments are so pretty, too. I arranged some flowers and a sentiment onto a stitched circle die-cut from the Noted: Scalloped Square die set and then onto a green card base and background.

Maile's new addition to the Splits line, Splits: Way To Go, has a really cool, fun, geometric look to it. I stamped the two halves separately and arranged them into triangles, then topped the arrangement with a sentiment stamped onto a stitched circle (from the Noted: Scalloped Square die set)

Forget Me Not Notes

Today is the last day of new product introductions for Papertrey Ink's June release, and we are featuring the following:

1. a beautiful set of forget-me-not flowers with some different sentiments built around the words forget/forgot/forgotten

2. three huge die sets, each with a scalloped card base (A1, A2 and a square enclosure size), and each with several nested rectangles and circles or ovals. Some of the dies in each set have a scalloped edge embossing detail, and all have a built-in stitching detail

3. A companion die set of three nested scalloped edge rectangles, each with the stitching detail (on both sides of the cut line) and a scalloped edge embossing detail

All of the new products will be available at 10 pm ET tomorrow, June 15, in the Papertrey Ink store.

So for this first card, I started with an A1 scalloped card base that I cut with a die from the Noted: Scalloped A1 set. I sponged and splattered the background before adding an assortment of blue flowers stamped and diecut with the Forget Me Not stamps and dies. The word die-cut is from the Forget Me Not Sentiments die set.

On these flowers, you can see the color variation. I stamped in Spring Rain, then used a sponge dauber to ad Blueberry Sky to the stamp, then stamped again. I repeated the Blueberry Sky sponging until the flowers were as dark as I wanted.

Here I've used the Noted: Scalloped Square die set to cut a gift enclosure card base. I topped that with a stitched edge square and circle, also from the Noted: Scalloped Square set. Last are some pink forget-me-nots, and a to/from sentiment from Keep It Simple: To & From.

Forget Me Not has several flower clusters, as well as single flower images in different sizes. Lots of layering possibilities!

Introducing Woodblock Prints

Welcome to Papertrey Ink's June release countdown. Today is a real treat! We are introducing a product group called Woodblock Prints, designed by Nichole Heady and inspired by Indian woodblock print fabrics. Woodblock Prints includes stamps, patterned paper, and stencils. 

All of the new products will be available at 10 pm ET on June 15 in the Papertrey Ink store.

These products are so incredibly fun to play with! For this card, I stamped a pattern with one of the Woodblock Prints images, heat embossed in white, and then watercolored with Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, and Enchanted Evening.

The sentiment was cut with the Big Basics: Thanks die and coated with clear Wink of Stella. Behind the word die-cut is a strip that I stamped with two more images in the Woodblock Prints set.

For this next card, I started with a die-cut card base, then added blocks of the Woodblock Prints Paper Collection. I added my sentiment on top, along with a sprinkling of sequins. So easy to make!

"Thinking of You" was die-cut with the Big Basics: Thinking of You die, and the rest of the sentiment is from The Skinny, a new stamp set by Dawn McVey. You'll find out more about the die-cut card base tomorrow!

My last card features the Woodblock Prints Stencils. There are are four different stencils in the collection. I've used two of them. There is Aqua Mist solid shape stenciling in the background and then Enchanted Evening detail stenciling on top of that. I stamped the little circle medallion image in Green Parakeet to bring in a little more color.

"Thanks" was cut with the Big Basics: Thanks die and sponged with Aqua Mist, Tropical Teal, and Enchanted Evening inks. 

Before stenciling, I taped the edges of the panel with washi tape. With the second stencil still in place, I spritzed with some clear shimmer spray. Before removing the washi tape, I sponged a little bit of Green Parakeet around the perimeter. The pretty scalloped panel is another new die that you'll learn  more about tomorrow!

A Need For Speed

Papertrey's June release countdown is underway! This month's collection has so much variety -- cars and trucks, beautiful florals, modern and graphic, plus some new die sets that I am positively squealing over, not to mention the lovey new Pale Peony color! If you haven't been following along with the peeks so far, visit Nichole's blog to get caught up. 

Today is our first group post for June, and we are introducing some adorable transportation-themed products: Need for Speed by Erin Lincoln, Road Signed and Road Signed Numbers by Nichole Heady, and a Stitched Car and Stitched Truck, also by Erin. 

All of the new products will be available at 10 pm ET on June 15 in the Papertrey Ink store.

The car and truck stitching dies are so adorable and so well thought-out! I used the Stitched Truck die to make an ornament for my husband. We've been exchanging ornaments every Christmas since the beginning of our marriage. I try to make or find ornaments that are personal, and this one will be perfect, since he loves to coach baseball and hauls all of the team equipment in the back of his truck. The baseball isn't part of the set, just something I made from circle dies. I love the idea of putting other stitched elements in the back of the pick-up -- hearts, birthday candles, anything really!

At the top of the truck cab, I stitched in a loop of Smokey Shadow Saddle Stitched ribbon to use as a hanging loop. This loop could work for ornaments, keychains, backpack tags, gift tags, and more!

To make the baseball, I cut a white Stitched Circle, then used a Stitched Circles: Holes die to add the curved lines for the red stitching. Easy to do, just lay the holes-only die on the Stitched Circle die-cut, offsetting to the left and right.

Next up is Need for Speed and the On the Road die. These cars are so cute! I'm especially impressed with how well the car designs work for men and boys of all ages -- not too grown-up for the little ones, but sleek enough for the teens and men. 

I layered a stamped and die-cut Need for Speed car onto an On the Road Soft Stone die-cut. The road lines are cut so that you can back with another color for the stripes, or inlay another color for the stripes. And the stamped tire tracks are such a fun touch!

The overhead perspective on the cars is fun and unique. I wasn't sure if I'd like it combined with scene elements, but I did. The curvy green hill piece was cut with the Sentiment Splits: Horizontal Curve die, the city skyline is from Zappy Birthday, and the background is the Cover Plate: Blue Skies die.

I stamped the Need for Speed sentiment in two parts and popped it up for dimension.
