A walk down memory lane..

I took the shot above way back in 2011 when the Perth foreshore was just that, the Perth foreshore, see the big green space and the full view of Bell Tower. The first ground was turned the following year in April 2012 for the future project that was Elizabeth Quay. Below in 2016 the construction of the inlet and the bridge and looking back towards the city..

It was a huge mess for what seemed such a long time, disruptions all round, with as many against as for the project. I seem to remember at first I was against :) same view below as the first shot taken from Kings Park this one in 2018. The last two shots taken this year with the completion of the Towers and the Ritz-Calton. It is incredible how Perth has changed over the last ten years..mostly for the better. Happy Sunday, take care and stay safe..

  1. It is funny how you often don't notice the gradual changes but then looking back like this you see a huge change. I notice this if I haven't gone along a road for a few months and all of a sudden there will be changes that have taken place in my absence!

  5. I wonder why we have this obsession with tall buildings - it's not as if Western Australia is short of space. Having said that it's nevertheless an attractive development.

  7. I remember when this project first started you were skeptical about it, but were more positive as it neared completion. Do you have a recent photo taken from the same spot as your first one here taken in 2011? Would be a good comparison.

  8. Not all cities do such a good job in completing a project like this with positive results. It seems that here we see projects proposed that never turn out they way they were planned. This one looks very nice. But, I have to say the 2011 view looks pretty darn nice too.

  13. Well, Grace. Well... Grace. "Yes", I try to agree with you. We fell in love in 1995. And I can´t wait to come back even though so much has changed.
As long as Grill'd and Jester's are still there I won't starve at least (just kidding).

  14. I quite like the "new" Perth too Grace, the Elizabeth Quay area has been a great asset to Perth.
