Guest Designer - Houses Built of Cards - Day 5

Wow! What a fun week it has been! This is Heather from Houses Built of Cards with my 5th, and final post for the week. I have had so much fun! I'm still going to be busy...yesterday was my 1 year blogiversary, and the celebration is tomorrow! I have a short blog hop planned, several great giveaways (including some more Peachy Keen Stamps!), and a very special introduction for you. Would love it if you stopped by for the fun!

So for my last post, I decided to use 2 more of my favorite sets of face stamps: Princess Face Assortment and Wide Eyed and Bush Tailed Assortment. I used a cut from Meow Lite Cricut cartridge. Doesn't that little cat make you want to laugh?!?!?

Kind of reminds me of my daughter carrying around our cat...he really loves to be petted and loved, but he HATES to get carried by anyone! So he always looks a little annoyed at the inconvenience! Here you can see how I pop-dotted the image from the background.

Added lots of inking and doodling with my white gel pen, and a sentiment from My Creative Time stamps. Also used a Fiskars edge punch along the side of the background paper to make it look like a notebook page.

And tomorrow morning I will be drawing the lucky winner of the prize Peachy Keen allowed me to select to giveaway - a $25.00 gift certificate!!! So make sure and leave a comment here and on the my blog - Houses Built of Cards for a chance to win!!! I also have a few bonus past projects posted on my blog using these same sets!

Guest Designer - Houses Built of Cards - Day 4

Good morning! So hard to believe that the week as guest designer is almost over! Been having so much fun with my Peachy Keen stamps! Thanks to everyone for the sweet comments here and on my blog, Houses Built of Cards - I have enjoyed reading each and every one of them!

For today's post, I played with my newest set of face stamps, In Stitches Face Assortment. (Hint: I also have a bonus project at the bottom of my blog using this same set!) I think these are so fun and different from any of the other faces - they have such a homespun look, that I just HAD to use lots of kraft paper!
I used a cut off of my cricut cartridge, Give a Hoot. I hid some of the layers on my Gypsy, and inked the edges of each piece with Tim Holtz distress ink in Frayed Burlap.

I also pop-dotted several of the layers, as this picture shows a little better. The background is also pop-dotted, as well as run through my Cuttlebug.

I used my white gel pen to do lots of faux stitching, and added a sentiment from My Creative Time stamps.

Here is the set that I used for today:

And, just a reminder, Peachy Keen has allowed me to select a prize to give away, and what could be better than your own spending money?!?!? So...leave a comment here, and on my blog, Houses Built of Cards, for two chances to win a $25 gift certificate!!!

Thanks for stopping by! I will see you back here tomorrow - one last time!

Guest Designer - Houses Built of Cards - Day 3

Hi there! Heather from Houses Built of Cards here again! So hard to believe that the week is half over!!! Time is flying by so fast, but what fun it has been! Today is Day 3 of my week guest designing for Peachy Keen - and I have been loving every second of it!

Today, I decided first of all to challenge myself with a boy project - I have 2 darling girls that I adore, age 8 and 7, so doing the princess thing is easy! Boys, that is another story! So I pulled out what I think is my all time FAVORITE Peachy Keen face assortment (Wide Eyed Kid Faces) and my Cricut Boys Will be Boys cartridge. If you don't have this set of faces, I would highly suggest it! I think I have used it more than any other set. (And...Peachy Keen is having a great sale too...just in case you wanted to know!)

Anyway, here is my project for today:

I cut this cute little guy out, added some inking with some Tim Holtz distress ink in Antique Linen and lots of faux stitching. Then...I couldn't resist putting him on an Action Wobble! (If any of you are wondering, Peachy Keen usually has these in stock. However, from looking at the Action Wobble Facebook page, it looks like they are having a production snag that they are trying to work out on their end, and then they will be shipping them to retailers - hopefully in time for the holidays. So...hopefully Peachy Keen will soon have them back in stock - or someone else will have them if not!) Anyway, these next couple of pictures show the action a little bit for you to see:

Isn't that FUN?!?!?! I love using Action Wobbles on projects, and definately plan on stocking up when they are back in supply again! Finished this one off with some Baker's Twine, a sentiment from My Creative Time stamps, and a bit of doodling around the edges of the card.

Here is the face set that I used on my project today:

And...just a reminder of the giveaway this week!!! Peachy Keen allowed me to select a giveaway for the week! So on Saturday morning I will be picking a lucky commenter from either here or my BLOG via Random.org and giving away a $25 Gift Certificate!!! If I had picked a set to give away, it probably would have been the set I used today - but if you already have this set, or your heart is set on something else, you can pick whatever YOU would like!!!

Thanks for taking a peek today! Feel free to pop over to my BLOG and leave a comment for a second chance to win! I also have some bonus past projects using this same face set posted on my blog. See you tomorrow!

Guest Designer - Houses Built of Cards - Day 2

Good morning! Welcome back for my second post for Peachy Keen Stamps. You can find my blog at Houses Built of Cards if you want to leave a comment there for an extra chance to win this weeks prize, plus I have a couple of bonus projects hiding out over there if you're interested!

Today is the brand new sketch challenge - so I got to make something for that this week! It was such a fabulous sketch - and so easy to work with! This is something new from Peachy Keen that I branched out with to try this week - some of their image stamps! I had pretty much only used their face stamps before, but decided to give these a try - and I'm SOOO glad I did! I absolutely LOVE how great this was for some paper piecing, and working on my rather rough abilities with my copics. Here is my card:

And here is the sketch for the week:

This is the stamp set that I used for this card:

I was so pleasantly surprised by the SIZE of this stamp! This card is a 6x6 card - so you can tell that this is a very good size stamp! Anyway, I paper pieced the dress, hat, and balloon, then used copics to color the rest, with a bit of white gel pen for highlights here and there. The sentiment is also part of this set.

The edges of everything are inked with Tim Holtz distress ink in Antique Linen - I love how it blends so great with white paper! Papers are all from My Minds Eye Lime Twist Happy Go Lucky 6x6 paper pad. Added some Jute Cord and a button to finish it off.

And of course, remember to leave a comment every day this week for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Peachy Keen Stamps!!! Pop on over to my blog to leave a comment for another chance, and to see a couple of bonus projects!!!

Guest Designer Week 27, Day 5

Happy Friday!  I can't believe this week is over - it went by so fast, and I am definitely sad to see it end!  I have had such a good time and appreciate all of the sweet comments that you have left.  Thank you to everyone at Peachy Keen Stamps!

This week I've taken you through a year's worth of scrapbook layouts; the only thing that I had left off was a birthday themed page.  I am so excited to participate in the Let's Face it Friday Challenge!  This week's theme is "Puns."  I decided to have a "won-DEER-ful" birthday celebration for the sweet deer from Create a Critter
If you'd like to play along you can find all of the details HERE!
I don't care how many projects I do with the Create a Critter cartridge - I never get tired of it.  The Peachy Keen Critter Face stamps just push the "cute" factor up even more.  I have been saving this patterned paper to use for something special, and I decided that this week is awfully special, so it's the perfect time to put it to use.  I know that bright patterns aren't for everyone, but I love these - especially when paired with my favorite kraft cardstock.
All of the animals are dressed up and ready for the deer's party.  I added distress ink and white gel pen doodles and faux-stitching to EVERYTHING in this layout.  It is a bit time consuming, but I try to distress and doodle as I go.  Normally while my Cricut is cutting out the images, I ink things and put together what I can.  I like to have all of my images ready to go once I start to actually put the layout together.  Sometimes I end up changing a few things around from my original design, once the cuts are in front of me.
I love the fox's "fabric" flower hair accessory.  All I did was attach a mini-brad to the fox, but before I pushed it all the way through - I wrapped the baker's twine all around it.  The twine is secured with gel adhesive.
I have never had much luck cutting out the balloon strings with my Cricut, so I decided that baker's twine would be even cuter.  I simply attached one end of the twine to my balloon and then tied the strings in a knot for the little squirrel to hold.

Guest Designer - Week 27, Day 4

As promised, I have a Christmas layout to share with you today.  I dusted off my Paper Doll Dress-Up cartridge and got to work sprucing up Santa and his reindeer with some Peachy Keen Face stamps.  If you have been wanting to purchase some Peachy Keen Stamps for the first time or add to your collection - this weekend they are having a "Christmas in July" sale July 22nd, 23rd & 24th!  Make sure to check it out!  I have my eye on a set or two...or three.  ;)
I did have to cut out some images a few times, to create layers, which is a bit time consuming, but definitely worth it in the long run.
I will use the smaller rectangle for journaling - more than likely I will add another piece of white (or maybe kraft) on top of the pink patterned paper, so that the writing will show up.  It's a little hard to tell in the pictures, but I outlined the stars with diamond Stickles to add a bit of sparkle.

To attach the twine to the reindeer, all I did was run a line of gel glue and then attach the twine.  I did the same thing to attach the baker's twine to Santa's bag.

Guest Designer - Week 27, Day 3

Happy Wednesday!  I can't believe the week is already halfway through.  So far, I've shown you a spring layout and a summer layout, but today we have arrived in my favorite season - fall!  I am planning to use this layout for my daughter's first day of school pictures (she starts preschool in the fall), but you could use this layout for almost any occasion!

See that red polka dot apple...that will probably be me on the first day of preschool, while Nicole will probably be more like the happy yellow apple.  Oh well...that's as it should be.  I did some more paper piecing for this layout, and I couldn't be happier with how those cute apples turned out.  I wasn't sure at first if I was going to add faces to my Faceless Fruit, but they looked so sad and lonely without a sweet Peachy face.  So...of course I added some little faces.  This time I used the Funshine Face Assortment.  Did you know those were the very first Peachy Keen face stamps?

Guest Designer Week 27, Day 2

Happy Tuesday!  I have another "peachy" project to share with you today!  Yesterday I showed you a spring themed layout and today I have a summer project for you!  I hemmed and hawed over whether or not I needed to add more images to this layout, but in the end I left it alone.

The minute that I saw these stamps, I knew that wanted little ants to carry Peachy Keen Stamps' Faceless Fruit away from a picnic.  Instead of coloring each piece of fruit, I decided to paper piece each piece.  If you haven't tried out this technique before, I highly recommend this great tutorial on the Market Street Stamps blog!  I have to admit that I am not very speedy when it comes to paper piecing - that's just another reason that I didn't end up adding anything else to the layout.  I wanted to make sure that the fruit got all the attention!
I am going to add my journaling to the picnic basket.  That should be nerve-wracking....I always like me handwriting - until I add it to my layouts.  I try to remind myself that one day Nicole will appreciate my actual handwriting, so it doesn't really matter whether or not it's perfect!  Right?

Don't forget that this week's giveaway from Peachy Keen Stamps is the Happy Lashes Face Assortment set!

All you have to do for a chance to win is leave a comment on this post - for an extra entry make sure to leave a comment on the corresponding post on my blog, Lauren's Creative!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Make sure to check back tomorrow - I have a fall layout to share.  It is perfect for any first day of school pictures you may have!
