trip was fun, tiring. let me bring you through my 8 days at Hongkong.
1st day, we check in at the budget terminal after a night of mj, none of us slept, just to wait for 4am.that's the checking in time, so we reached the airport late anyway, since the round hasn't finish. we won $5 each. the flight to macau is full, and we didn't get any window seat, got the aisle, but i manage to change with an uncle, okay. after that, he kept saying uncle, well.. he want to be known as brother instead? hmm... maybe i should call mister. they were very noisy, fancy gambling on board, i couldn't really sleep, but manage to catch some winks cos later will be a busy day for me. upon reaching macau, we took a bus to the city, walked about the places of interest, st paul ruins, tried their milk pudding, egg tarts, milk tea, pork chop burger etc. visited the churches, the filming site of goong, the venetian city(new casino), there's many casino, more than las vegas. hmm.. which is grander? of cos las vegas. things are not really cheap. in venetian city, there's free shuttle bus from the ferry terminal to there, is kinda far, cos located at cotai strip. there is boats, just like genting highlands boats, the boatman was singning, impressive. of cos te interior is like being in venice, or else why is known as venetian? left there for chuhai, a place in china, which is known for shopping i guess? things are cheap, especially the bra, is like only $4.50 per piece? shoes and lotsa shoes.. the clothes.. hmmmm... so we check in the hotel since is kinda late in the evening, and sky get dark about 5-6pm. we ate there, is cheap, the food is nice, beef is tender. i think i ate the hua dan beef rice. is smooth, the egg. anyway the hotel we stayed is so much better than the HKG one, it cost only about $50-60 bucks per night.
the 2nd day, we woke up early hoping to reach HKG in the afternoon, we had breakfast in chuhai, since is cheap. we walked through the customs, we had choice of taking free shuttle bus to the casino, but we didn't cos we wanted to save time. so we took a cab to the ferry terminal, price was reasonable, they go by meter, so it cost about HK$27. got the ferry tix to TST, the ride was an hour away, seats are comfortable, so we slept throughout. and upon reaching, customs again. well, this trip uses 2 full pages of the passport. so we didn't know how to walk, and finally found the MTR, okay is quite far from the ferry terminal. TST is like orchard road, expensive shopping, you can find DFS there, branded stuff. well, of cos they have a granville st, hmm.. something like far east shopping, something cheaper. so we took train to Mongkok, the place that pris recommend was full, and the thing is the whole building like from 2nd storey, 6th, 8th storey etc was full. well, we met this old couple, not really old, but still old in the lift, he told us to go to his one if we wanted, is slightly more ex, is HK$350 per night. well, since we couldn't find any place, we went for that. the room is big, since i downgrade to a smaller one after few nights, to save more money for shopping and eating. there's huge tv just directly outside the window. the toilet is small, but is okay for 2 to stand inside and can't move around. room service every day, so the dustbin is clear frequently. anyway, i stayed at Wing Wah Hotel. but is not really a hotel, is more like guest rooms, or motel (whatever you call it). i can't remember what we ate, but we tried almost everything, from the food stall downstair the hotel, to the opposite street, and fast food, restaurants etc. so there is this famous 'che zai mian', the chicken wing noodle, and the shrimp wonton was great. is kinda ex compare to the normal cafe. went to eat claypot rice, the famous one at causeway bay. the one i ate sucks, cos it came different from what i order, well communication breakdown. oh i tried the cafe de coral baked pork chop rice, wasn't that fanstastic. the bubble tea was nicer than the one we drank in macau. the stink tofu was really stink, i bite one mouth. the fish siewmai was good. well, i ate a few . a few only. the food was salty, salty, salty and oily.
the air is polluted, my face was dry. well, was thinking if the clarins causing it, so i went to buy body shop matifying creme, and we got a missha mask, well.. the things are about the same price as singapore, so they are not consider cheap. went to ladies market to walk, since is just a street across. shops are selling similar stuff, so less than 3 hours, we finish it, but still, we went back every few days just to get things that we missed out. temple st was like nothing, nothing much to get. is quite small, we walked back to mongkok, since yu ma tei is only a stop away. went to arygle street for some shopping, the arygle shopping center, well.. is a must go place for shopping, cheap. got about 9-10 tops from there. the clothes can't be try, so i didn't get any bottoms, except for 1 stretchable pants. i think most of my money is spent there. fa yuen st is another place for shopping, shoes etc. bought 1 pair from there, 1 from ladies market and 1 from Shenzhen. well, it cost like $8-$15 bucks. there is this bakery shop, selling egg tarts, tradition stuff was great. went H&M at central, it like topshop, clothes were almost the same price, or slightly cheaper by a bit, bought top and undergarment. ate ajisen, the meal was good, beef is so tender, i like their garlic beef. the garlic is nice smelling, that you can even eat it without feeling the hotness. went to the peak, the queue was long, but we got the mdm tussad and peak tram ticket combo, so we didn't queue very long. the peak was good, cold. mdm tussad, crowded, but manage to take pictures with all the stars. the combo cost abut HK$130, quite reasonable. had haggen dazs there, weather is so cold that when you eat ice cream, it doesn't feel cold. anyway, it is expensive, cost more than singapore but it isn't as if you eat everyday. went to lan kwai fong, walked about there to see the nightlife, there are many tourists there too.
friday is shenzhen day, took KCR (an hour journey) to luo wu if i'm not wrong, had to clear customs again. visited the windows of the world, took an hour bus ride, when there is mtr? upon reaching, we went to take some pictures but when the sky getting dark, we skip some, but manage to take the leaning tower, effiel tower, pyramid etc. after that, went for some shopping, bought shoes and a top from there. had dinner at shenzhen, the dvd is ex, but i manage to get 1 at CNY$5. so is still cheap, shows are limited. the movie @ HKG is expensive, is like S$10 and above for a movie. so we didn't catch any. the macdonald be it in china or HKG is cheaper than sin, i had chicken wrap, sausage mcmuffin and it only cost less than s$2 and a set meal of Big & Tasty, which is very good. had some tako pachi ball, i don't like it as it is all octopus. ate the gindaco yaki soba, which is just beside where we stay, the noodle as usual oily & salty. cos of the sauce. it comes with an egg.
sat is shopping day @ mongkok. and we got some christmas stuff too.
went cheng zhau early in the morning on sunday, took a 30min ferry ride from the central pier. cost about HK$33 for each way, upon reaching went to eat dim sum, wasn't really good, but still edible, ate the chu chang fen with peanut butter sauce and the usual dimsum. went walk about the island, climb the mini great wall of china, and the view was superb. climbing up was tiring, but down was easy. went to eat dessert, had mango beancurd, the beancurd wasn't really sweet and smooth. i had mango drink @ hui lau san, the mango is really very very sweet, nice! so we walked about, went to bakery shop, ride their trishaw around the island, ate seafood. ate the calamari was nice, the dai niao prawn was damn salty, i kept peeing after that, so is so salty, not good. went to take the star ferry to go to TST, the ave of stars. seriously, is nothing much, the laser show, kinda boring. took pictures around there too.
monday is disney day. went to disneyland, the place was not very crowded, but still there is like thousand of people. the disney parade was cancel, but still we went all the way there, we still have to go in right? the rides wasn't a lot compare to the one in states, hmm.. and is kinda boring type of rides, except the space moutain, and the 3d show, that's what i enjoy the most. and not to forget stitch, who wanna become my bf. well, although the shows wasn't that good, what make the whole experience great is the ambience, the lightings, the effects etc. the stitch show, the whole place is like dark, and the stitch can manage to scan the room, and he was on the screen talking to us, but manage to see us so clearly, and capture our face on the screen. hmm.. the interesting part is he asked if i've got bf, and if he is here, then compete to sing love song, and stitch sang. lol. that was cute. and he called me xiao ling ling, now i understand why each time you go for the show, is different. the funny part was that this guy pic he capture from the audience, was refer to as escape prisioner from space. stitch made the whole conversation very funny. the show we attend was in chinese, luckily. imagine if it is in canto, how? i don't even understand. the golden mickey show was lousy, cos maybe is in canto. anyway, as usual we ate corn dogs, its nice, i like it, though its not as big as the 1 in states. we had our lunch there, is ex, the portion is small anyway. we took a lot of pics, with the different characters, i think with pluto, goofy, mickey, minnie, donald, daisy, snow white, cinderella, sleeping beauty, chipmunks, mulan's dragon, pooh bear etc. we bought candy, chocolates and t-shirts there. dinner, we had kfc and egg kind of waffle or crepe.
tuesday is our 2nd last day there, so we went to wong tai sin, pray and visit the fortune teller, the one that i visit was quite famous, took photos with twins, and some other actress etc. charges are also steep. and things he said was quite accurate, well at least about 90% accurate. went to the shopping center nearby to had breakfast, the congee, fried chang fen with you tiao, that was nice and all cost HK$45. cheap right? one of my cheapest breakfast. anyway, they had yoshinoya, but is ex. went to stanley market, nothing much there, most of the stuff can be found at mongkok. so went back to mongkok to visit their portland st, pass by the new H&M @ Langham place, was grand. slept a while before heading towards causeway bay for their claypot rice. went sogo shopping, since they were having sales. so manage to grab a roxy tee.
last day, woke up ealry to go fa yuen st to buy the egg tart, and some tao sia thingy. but was told that egg tart was only available after 1130. visited my sis @ her hostel, the journey was about 30-40mins away from mongkok, the bus wasn't that cheap too. brought back few of her items, not that many anyway. only few clothes and 2-3 pair of shoes. so after visiting, we went to had dim sum at 'ming xing jiu lou' at shang wan, in between of kennedy town. we took a cab cost about HK$36. so waited for 30mins to get seat? since is lunch time. so we order about 8 items & 2 dessert. were very full after that. so took a trolley bus to central, for some bazzar shopping, bought my mum clothes there, is so much cheaper than ladies mkt. went to buy egg tart, and tried their chinese donut. is like custard puff coated with sugar icing. oh, i had krispy kreme there, ate the new york cheese cake donut.. hmm.. is very cheesy. went back to fa yuen st, only to find there is no egg tart, but luckily we bought from central a few boxes already. took the airport express (45 mins ride) and reach their terminal, had thai food there before checking in. nothing much to walk anyway. so off we left there, and reached back in sin @ 1205? flight was late. will try to get photos up soon, but gotta wait cos there is like 200pics?
anyway, the above took me 1.5 hours to write. ......... |
