Very Creative Student

Here is what one student designed in a recent "All About Me" mini album class.  She was introduced to several techniques.  She designed most of the pages herself and got to use many tools that she had never used before.   The album is designed to sit up like an easal on a table or to be tied closed with a robbon.  There are 6 pages/surfaces made from 1 sheet of card stock.

inked edges, double matting, different handwriting styles

adding more photos by using a folded mat

the tree is stamped and the names of all her siblings are written on popped up circles.  She is represented by the little bird.  I thought this was clever!

She likes to cook and helped to make this dish. Looks yummy!

Crocheting Pass-it-on Party

One day I was sitting at the YMCA with my Aqua-aerobics instructor.  She was crocheting a beautiful scarf.  After a brief conversation, she agreed to come and teach the kids a crocheting project at my next event.  Mrs. Linda was a great guest teacher and all the kids loved her.  Linda and I went back and forth trying to pick a project that would appeal to both boys and girls.  Finally we came up with wrist bands.   I think the kids did a great job!

Look at all the wrist bands- pretty!

This was their first time crocheting.  All the students worked really hard.  Parents have reported back "...I have yarn coming out of my ears..."  One parent said her daughter asked, "Mom, do you want me to show you how to crochet, cause I know how now..."  One of the party goers was picked up a bit late and he was trying several of the more complicated stitches on the stitch guide Mrs. Linda gave them.  Way to go!!!

A special thanks to Linda Randall for being a wonderful servant of God and a great teacher.

Healing Art

At the ninth hour I decided to submit a project in the blog hop challenge for Jackson Digital Expressions.  I wanted to use the digital image of the mother and daughter hugging that I chalked like a rainbow.  I had intended the image for a card, but I changed my mind and it wound up in my pile of digital images. Before I knew it I was painting and crying and collaging and crying and doodling and crying.  I ended up with an art journal page.  I can't say that I love this piece, but it was very healing.  The picture is of my mother who passed away suddenly this past September.  I was thinking halo, angel wings, rainbows and hugs.  Here is what I came up with:

Sample Mini Album

I teach a scrap booking class to teens.  I wanted an idea to encourage a positive self outlook, get them celebrating and examining who they are, while learning some basics about scrap booking.  So, the class project is an "All About Me" mini (6x6) album.  Look for student projects in future posts.  Here is the sample mini I made for the class:

Purse greeting card holder

Happy Spring!!!
Many folks celebrate spring with a new wardrobe.  I was thinking that you can't have new clothes without  accessories.  So, why not a new purse?  Here is a purse I made.  It holds greeting and note cards.  My friend Helen suggested a card holder for a birthday present for my coworker.  It was really fun to make.  Check out Angie Leach's version of "how to" make this Purse card gift set.

The pen has matching pp inside

This pocket is for postage stamps

If wishes were horses I would ride, ride, ride...

Here is a art journaling page I created.   My sentiment was going to be something about "doing it yet afraid" because I do have fear about art journaling:  the layers, making mistakes, the ugly phase...EVERYTHING!  Okay...Hello, my name is Tina and I have perfectionist tendencies.  Hi Tina -WELCOME!  (LOL)  So, this was an exercise in purging the crippling, stupid, unrealistic perfectionist attitude.  No more procrastinating until I know ahead of time that things are going to turn out right.   As the piece grew I created the horse and the sentiment was a refrain I heard in a song once.

Materials:
Olive green and yellow acrylic paint, circle stencil, white gel pen, black pitt pen, glitter pen, sharpie, bic mark its, sharpie poster paint pens, collage paper from magazines.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

The blog hop is coming soon.  Stay tuned.
