Laatst meldde ik het al, m'n mapje atc's is eindelijk boven water. Een mooie gelegenheid om weer eens wat te ruilen.
A few days ago I found my atc binder back. A nice opportunity to trade some again.
Ik wil er graag vijf ruilen, liefst met vijf verschillende lezers :) Als er vrijdagmiddag 4uur meer dan vijf gegadigden zijn, dan prik ik namen. Zijn er minder dan stuur ik gewoon meer atc's per ruil. Het zullen willekeurige atc's uit de collectie hierboven zijn, de meeste zijn in 2008 door mij gemaakt.
I want to trade five atc, preferable with five different readers :) Closing time to enter will be friday 4pm (CEST). In case there are more who want to trade I will pick names, in case there are less I will send more atc's to the ones who will swap. There will be random atc's from the collection in the photo, most of these are made by me in 2008.

Jaren terug heb ik eens, zonder het te weten een blizzard-boek gevouwen. Ik wist niets van Hedi Kyle en heel weinig van vouwenstructuren.
Years back I've folded a blizzard-book. Little did I know of folding structures and of Hedi Kyle.
Vandaag nog eens een strook restpapier genomen en gevouwen. Ik snap nu hoe de blizzard in elkaar zit :)
Today I took a strip of scrap paper to try it again. I can say I 'get it now' :)
Eigenlijk hoort er nog een omslag om, maar een blote rug is ook wel heel mooi.
In fact there's instructions to fold a cover too, but the spine is too lovely to cover it up.

Instructies gevolgd uit 'The Penland Book of Handmade Books'. De strook papier was 63,5x15 cm. Mijn boekje meet 7,5x4cm.
Instructions found in 'The Penland Book of Handmade Books'. The paper strip measured appr. 25x6". My book is appr. 3x10"

zomaar een peer

Een bakje stempels uit de kast geplukt, samen met een stuk groen kaartkarton van het gekkigheidje van gisteren.
Snatched a tray rubber stamps from the closet and a piece of the green cardstock from yesterday's silliness.
De streepjes op de peer komen van de tweede laag inkt die ik op de stempel zette (ik zet vaak twee kleuren inkt op een stempel, geeft net een beetje extra sjeu).
The stripes happend when i inked the stamp with a second color (i often ink two colors on a stamp for some added fun).
Vinden jullie groen ook zo moeilijk goed op de foto te krijgen? Het lijkt haast onmogelijk dat goed te doen.
Do you have these difficulties when photographing green colors? It almost seems impossible to do it justice.
In de schaduw ging nog het best.
In the shadow seemed to work best.
Zo'n mooie dag om van 't werk weer naar huis te fietsen. Door de parken, bruggetje op bruggetje af, jongens die in de vijver zwemmen (magnietmaarwieletdaarop), picknickende families, kinderen die leren fietsen, jongelui die iets ingewikkelds doen met grote vellen papier, een groep paardrijlessers, heerlijk. Ik wens iedereen zo'n mooie dag toe :)
It was such a lovely day to cycle home from work. Through some city parks, crossing small bridges, boys swimming in the pond (not really allowed but who cares), picknicking families, children learning to cycle, young people doing complicated things with large sheets of paper, a horse riding class, so much fun. Hope you had a lovely day too :)

Two 2Stars
Hier zijn ze dan, de oogst van afgelopen weekend. Zaterdag was relaxed, lezing van een uurtje en een pakketje mee naar huis. Zondag was flink werken om twee volledige '2star' bindingen te maken.
Here's the result of the bookbinding weekend. Saturday was easy going, only the lecture and demo and the DIY kit to make at home. Sunday was quite different, it was all hands on to complete the two '2star' bindings.
Thuis heb ik de omslagen van een paar stempelafdrukken voorzien.
At home I added some stamped images to the covers.
We leerden ook nog een slimme sluiting snijden.
We also learned to cut a fun closure.

Voor het buiten te donker werd kon ik nog net één foto maken van de boeken die ik afgelopen weekend maakte. Morgen hoop ik op een beetje meer tijd daarvoor.
Before it went too dark outside I managed to take one photo of the books I made last weekend. Hope to be able to take some more tomorrow.
Het was een fantastisch boekbindweekend. Zaterdag de lezing en demo, zondag de workshop. Hieronder zie je Cristina voordoen hoe een prikmal te maken. Haar website is nog niet af, hier is een link met meer info: 'Professione Libro' (Engels en Italiaans).
Niet veel foto's kunnen maken tijdens de les, het schijnt dat je batterijen af en toe moet opladen...

concertina
Vandaag een lezing en demo over 'uitdagende concertinas' door Cristina Balbiano d'Aramengo in Utrecht. We kregen allemaal een pakketje mee om thuis een eenkatern-versie te kunnen maken.
Today a reading and demo on 'challenging concertinas' by Cristina Balbiano d'Aramengo in Utrecht. We all got a 'Lamellae binding kit' to make one with one section at home.
Thuis moest dat natuurlijk onmiddelijk uitgevoerd (anders vergeet je maar hoe het moet, niet?)
At home I had to start immediate (otherwise one would forget the ins and outs, not?)

op m'n werktafel 11

Vorige week naaide ik een boekblok, omdat ik op boekbindles ging. Het werden twee leuke dagen hard werken om het boek in model en goed gebonden te krijgen. De bekleding worden we geacht er thuis omheen te maken, dat gaat nog een paar zweetdruppels kosten...
Last week I sewed a textblock for a bookbinding class I would attent. It turned out two fun days of hard working to model and bind the book. The cover we are supposed to finish at home. I can see some head scratching over unexpected issues in the near future...

and now...
Maanden terug was ik een avond bij Barbara van Stein voor een open atelier papiermarmeren en afgelopen week kwam het er eindelijk van die vellen in ontvangst te nemen (dank je wel Barbara voor het bewaren al die tijd).
Months ago I went to a paper marbling evening at Barbara van Stein's studio. And finally last week I had the opportunity to collect the sheets (thanks Barbara for keeping these so long)
En nu staren die vellen me aan. Ik ben benieuwd wat ik er uiteindelijk mee ga maken ;)
And now these sheets lay staring at me. I'm kind of curious myself what i decide to make with the marbled paper ;)
