Top Dog Guest Designer: Insta-Love Mini Album & Giveaway

Hello friends! I had the opportunity to pair up with Top Dog Dies as a Guest Designer this week. Top Dog Dies is a new online store that offers their own brand of wafer-thin and steel-rule dies, along with dies from brands you already know, including Little B, Lawn Fawn, Taylored Expressions, Savvy Stamps and Cheery Lynn Designs. Top Dog Dies is also the leading U.S. retailer for Tattered Lace, a new line of intricate dies designed by British designer Stephanie Weightman.

I created this sweet little mini album with the Top Dog's Camera Die and Camera Finishers Set, as well as a cheery little card you can check out on the Top Dog blog. At seven inches across the camera die was perfectly sized to make an album with my Instagram prints. I cut the center out of a four inch doily to mimic the lens, then layered each page with paper, ribbon, wash tape, doilies and tulle to accent the photos.

Be sure to enter the Top Dog Dies guest designer giveaway by Sunday, August 31 for a chance to win a $50 shopping spree at Top Dog Dies!

Messages from Heaven

Nearly every change of season brings us a fresh batch of color combination trends to try. This fall the Glitz team is taking the Green/Pink/Neutral combo for a spin. I had a hard time choosing between white and warm gray for my neutral, so in the end I went with both. The white I kept as a canvas and the warm gray as the accent.

The photo was extra special to me because it was a little memento I found of my dad's one day when cleaning my house. When he was sick his pockets were always supplied with cough drops that had little messages on the wrappers. This was one of the wrappers I found not long after he passed away. It was like a little message from heaven.

Sparkle & Shine

This week the paper crafting focus falls on Glitz Design's striking giant rhinestones. With self adhesive rhinestones that coordinate with each of the Glitz lines, you always have a way to add a little (or a lot) of sparkle to your project.

Inspired by several crafty friends using household items as embellishments, I went digging in my kitchen for some goodies of my own. I ran across freezer paper, punched it into heart shapes and sewed them onto my page. They added a bit of translucent tone-on-tone texture to the project.

Life in an Instant

Keeping up with staying behind is becoming a regular occurrence for me. The sun has been out, showing off the glory of spring in the Northwest. Our family is preparing for another deployment, so we are, as always, striving to squeeze the fullness of joy from every moment we have. In light of this, combined with my many shortcomings, the photo update will be in the form of Instagram snapshots from my phone. (One of these days I'll catch up on my photo editing, and get my "big camera" photos up as well.)

This would look cool if it wasn't our sliding glass door
A beautiful design and an expensive window replacement.
(One should be mindful of flying rocks from weed eaters.)

"THERE IS a road from the eye to the heart that does not go through the intellect. Men do not quarrel about the meaning of sunsets; they never dispute that the hawthorn says the best and wittiest thing about the spring."  ~G.K. Chesterton, A Defence of He

“Because children have abounding vitality, because they are in spirit fierce and free, therefore they want things repeated and unchanged. They always say, "Do it again"; and the grown-up person does it again until he is nearly dead. For grown-up people are not strong enough to exult in monotony. But perhaps God is strong enough to exult in monotony. It is possible that God says every morning, "Do it again" to the sun; and every evening, "Do it again" to the moon. It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them. It may be that He has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we.”
