A flower wreath for Mom - Ihana

Hi there and happy Wednesday! Today I have a bunch of cards for you. These three were all a part of an article I made for Ihana, a Finnish craft magazine. The idea was to make some Mother's Day cards using a same stamp set and even the same design, but color and layer the stamps a bit differently.

The first card, which you can see here below, was made using masking to build the wreath and brush tip markers to color. The second one was colored using patterned paper cut in shape and the third one was colored using water soluble inks and the wreath was build dimensional. If you which to see the steps or read more about the cards I'm afraid you need to get yourself a copy of the magazine! Although I must say that it's in Finnish.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a wonderful day! Hopefully you've already made your Mother's Day cards (should you send those out)!

Peaceful Easter time - altered eggs for Ihana

The new issue of Ihana is soon out, but these eggs are something I created for the 2/23 issue for Easter time. They are altered paper maché eggs, with romantic feel.

Obviously I can't share the steps here, for those you need to get your own copy of the magazine, but these were fun to make! I got to use my two favorite mediums and also tried my hand a little with the paper flowers. I didn't do the flowers properly, though, as I used a flower punch and thus the different petals had different grain in them. But those tiny flowers still look the part!

With these eggs I want to wish all of you peaceful Easter time or just lovely weekend, if you don't celebrate. Rauhallista pääsiäistä! Thank you for stopping by today.

Shibori cards for Ihana

Hi there and sunny new week! Today I have something a bit different for you - it's cards for Finnish craft magazine Ihana that were inspired by shibori. Shibori is a Japanese dye technique. These cards are made using itajime shibori, which involves folding the substrate to intricate folds. The easiest fold is a square or rectangle, but you can create a star pattern quite easily, too.

These cards are made using the papers created inspired by the itajime technique. I used watercolor to dye the pieces. Should you want to see the step by step tutorial, you need to get yourself a copy of the magazine - it's in Finnish, though.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a splendid week!

Bees wax collage - Ihana lehti

Moikka! It's Christmas week already! This week is a bit irregular one, I have posts running from Tuesday to Thursday but none on Friday which also means no Friday process video. However, I will publish a FB recording in Finnish on Thursday and there will be a new video then before new year.

Today I'm sharing a project I made for a Finnish craft magazine Ihana. It's a set of three little encaustic inspired pieces where I used beeswax as my adhesive and texture medium. It's not proper encaustic bees wax, though, so these works are more sensitive to heat as there's no dammar in the mix.

If you'd like to see a step by step process to these, you need to find yourself a copy of the magazine! These are in issue 6/2022.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a stress-free week! Stay safe and sound, you all.
