SENDING YOU hugs - Card & Video

Saturday, November 23, 2019

Hello!  It has been a hot minute, or a few months since my last Blog Post!
We moved put our house on the market, sold it, bought a new house and moved all in 4 weeks!  And started renovating the new house right when we moved in and started kids in new schools...whew!

It has been a crazy few months and I am finally getting to a place where I can unpack and start creating cards and scrapbook again.
I have missed it so much!  So, I was feeling the Fall colors and love and created
this card below using this gorgeous red rubber background stamp from Neat & Tangled.

You can click on the video below or HERE to go to my YouTube Channel directly.

I heat embossed that large background in white so I could use it as a resist for blending Distress Oxide inks for my sunset.
I think it would be fun to emboss it in gold as well.

I used some images from Lawn Fawn that I had previously colored and added a die cut sentiment,
a small stamped sentiment and some Nuvo Crystal drops.

A simple card and video to get me back into the swing of things!
I am going to be filming my new space and the organizing I will be doing too.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Cardmaking Month!! {& video }

Thursday, August 11, 2016

Hi everyone!  Happy August!
I am working on putting together a new look for my Blog and some other crafty, exciting things for the future!  I wanted to kick it off with a few cards in the giant array of cardmaking I have had the last few weeks!

I filmed my process which can click on below or go to my YouTube Channel HERE!

I started out with an idea to make three similar cards, using some old 6" Color Magic Papers and then having some stamping or sentiments of sorts on top of it.  I got a few of the Zig Clean Color Brush markers and wanted to use them!

I used Distress Inks to blend a background of blues and greens around the stamped I had heat embossed.  I made a mask out of Post-It tape to cover the ice cream before I inked the back.  I added some twine before adhered it to the front of the misted paper.

For the second card, I used a couple shades of turquoise mist onto one of the resist paper of intricate patterns and doilies.  It turned out beautiful and didn't want to add anything too busy for the embellishment.  I heat embossed a sentiment from Neat & Tangled and punched it out.  I layered it on top a piece of glitter paper punch a size larger.  Finally I adhered both to the front over some pink jute twine and added some paint splatters.

The last card was where I deviated and I love the way it turned out!  I used a large wood grain background stamp to create a tone on tone to my kraft cardstock.  I stamped one of the bird from my favorite Dina Wakley bird stamps.  I used the Zig Clean Color Bush Markers to color it and they are perfect for this type of blending!

I cut both using the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle dies and adhered them to the front of my card base.  I added a little dot of black enamel accents to the bird's eye.  I had planned to add sequins or wood veneers and finally decided to keep it simple with one tiny heart in the bottom corner!

I have had a lot of fun, albeit frenzied, making so many cards this summer.  My parents always encouraged me to make handmade cards as a little girl and I have been every since.  I truly feel like it is gift in itself!

Thanks for stopping by and come back to see more!
Have an amazing day!

Scrapbook Circle + Neat & Tangled = we are ALL made of STORIES

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

Hi everyone!  So excited to be participating in the Scrapbook Circle collaboration with Neat & Tangled.

This lovely stamp set is part of the October 'Mix Tape' kit.  It has this great combination of scrpit and block font that is so popular today.  You can find the orginal post on the Scrapbook Circle Blog HERE and the Neat & Tangled Blog HERE.  A few of the other designers have been featured on both Blogs in the past couple days and another one tomorrow, so check back then too!

This stamp set inspired me so much for this challenge!  I saw the books as scrapbooks lined up, each telling a story in a collection of layouts.  I have been doing the bi-annual (should be more often) task of putting scrapbook layouts into sleeves and putting them into the correct albums.  This always invloves a massive amount of shuffling, a kind of scrapbook Tetris, if you will!   Another reason the stamp made me think of the art of memory keeping.

I have a couple boxes of slide contact sheets my father made in his career as our family historian.  I thought these would be perfect to tell that particular story.  Unfortunately, I have to guess at some of the dates, but it is amazing the detail that the tiny images capture.  The main ones here are of my mother sitting on our side porch when I was probably around 7 or 8 years old.

The text print paper seemed appropriate for the telling of a story, so I printed my journaling onto patterned paper using a typewriter font.  I used to use my printer for journaling a lot, but am out of practice with line spacing.  Somehow, this print out magically aligned with the change in color and pattern on the paper.

So many pieces of the October kit went perfectly with my theme, the washi stickers from Pink Paislee, especially the one with old fashioned cameras, and the paper with the lines all connected by dots.  I used watercolor and colored pencil to highlight some of those.

I love pages that are full of symbolism and show the love for this creative art form we call scrapbooking.  Not only does the stamp set work great with this month's kit, it will be perfect for so many future projects.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today and be sure to check out the other blogs too!
Have an amazing day!

Neat and Tangled Blog to get started back at the beginning!  If you haven't seen yesterday's hop,
make sure to visit the Pinkfresh Studio Blog and check out all the inspiration there!

The first project I did for the Hop was a layout featuring a combination of stamps from stamps from
Neat & Tangled and Pinkfresh Studio and some of the new wood veneers from Pinkfresh too.

The Pinkfresh Studio stamp set '& Hello' inspired the whole theme of the page.

The 'Ink Splash' stamp from Neat & Tangled added
great texture to the watercolors and background.

The second project I did was a simple card using the 'Kindness Matters' stamp set from Neat & Tangled
and another wood veneer from Pinkfresh Studio.  I embosses my card first with a polka dot
embossing folder and used a few of the matte gold sequins from Neat & Tangled to accent them.

I really like the lavender, green and navy colors together in my LO, so I used those again here.

I hope you enjoyed my projects using some of the cool stamps and products from Neat & Tangled and Pinkfresh Studio.
