Poppies - Day #10

Poppies - Day #10!  For this card I wanted to use some guilding flakes, along with one of my favourite poppy stamp sets, which is from IndigoBlu.  I think I need a bit more practise stamping with the flitter glue to make sure I get a crisp image, and if I was feeling a bit braver I might even add some colour to the poppy - maybe I will do that and add an update!

The background was made using some glimmer sprays - I made a bit of a stash of them a while ago, so I am not sure if this is using a Creative Expressions or Tattered Angels spray - will have to see if I can figure it out!

You can't see the beautiful variation in colours in the guilding flakes in the photo above, but I think you can see it here.

I am adding this card to the following:

That Craft Place - Anything Goes

Materials Used:
IndigoBlu - Poppy Meadow A5 stamp set
Creative Expressions - mulled wine gilding flakes
Spellbinders - Matting basics A and B

Glimmer spray for the background - Creative Expression or Tattered Angel

Poppies - Day #9

Poppies Day #9, so for Remembrance Sunday I chose a beautiful poppy digi image to colour, and added the first line of the well know "In Flanders fields" poem. The poem was written during the First World War by a Canadian physician, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
         In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
         In Flanders fields.

Poppies - Day #4

Hi!  Here is day 4 of my 11 days of poppy cards!  After colouring the poppy in, I went to assemble the card, and all of a sudden had one of those "this looks very familiar" moments, and thought I'm sure I didn't do this as my Remembrance Sunday card last year! And no I didn't, but I did use the image and sentiment for my 2012 card!  At least I put the sentiment in a slightly different position!  So to make it a little more different, I used different coloured card for the layers - dusky red and cream rather than black and red.
