Like I said, I went home for the 4th of July.
First day, mom and I checked a festive mani/pedi with Me-Maw off of our list of things to do.
Honestly, no one wears nail art like my Me-Maw.
It's bougie and fabulous!
I spent a little time with Dad since Mom and I had just run wild in the city the weekend before... Parent juggling - I'm usually a pro!
I also have to do a bit of pool juggling (poor me, I know) so the very next day we visited Nanny and her pool! I'm a lucky Grand-daughter!
Gringo got in the pool on his own for the first time ever.
We were so excited to go swimming with him.
He immediately regretted his decision.
For the actual holiday, we headed back to Me-Maw's for her annual cookout and I finally got to see Baby Dolan (cousin Pamela's baby doll)...
My uncles are rarely photographed, but here they are...
Baby Dolan with his Grandpa, my uncle Kieth.
And this is my uncle Kevin showing off his multipurpose reef's with a bottle opener on the bottom.
Form and function.
I went swimming on the fourth of july which is also a rarity given the number of children usually taking over the pool.
Remember when I said I was good at pool juggling? Well I'm just realizing, I might be better at it than any other thing in the world.
Back to Nanny's... Still celebrating the fourth in my choice of mani/pedi colors and my beach towel.
Mom and I did our usual goodwill run where I bought three 'new' vintage dresses and she was kind enough to modernize them a little for me with shorter hemlines and smaller sleeves. Being a little-black-dress kind of girl, I've really been trying to branch out not only to patterns, but also to COLOR.... My closet is more colorful than I've ever seen it.
The first night I ever had June-Bug over to my apt, back in 2007, she took one look in my closet and said, "How long did you say you've lived in the city? Judging by your closet, I'd guess you've been a New Yorker for nearly 10yrs."
She couldn't say that now. No sir-ree!
And speaking of Juney, I found her these adorable neon jean shorts, perfectly frayed and all.
Trust me, if they'd have fit me, I would not be so generous, but they were a size Teeny-Tiny so to June-Bug they go.
Colored denim was supposably all the rage this summer, but according to Kent is now over.
Yeah, right. Try telling EVERY GIRL EVER.
This summer I bought jean shorts in electric blue, hot pink ombre', and peach... jeans in mint/teal and Seon bought me a pair of florescent yellow capris.
Told ya. Color? I'm on it!
Back to Nanny's.
And lastly, back to Me-Maw's for Sunday brunch by the pool.
Breakfast in our bathing suits with no 30min rule is what I call vacation.
We take our cooking out so seriously, we even scramble our eggs on the grill.
Like father, like daughter.
A post-breakfast nap, swim, and then Dolan cuddle.
Visit complete.
Virginia is for lovers AND SUMMERS!!!
Happy Birthday America and God bless the U.S.A.
