QuasarDragon is back with Goblin Market, PWYW module

It's been a while (understandably, as modules can be a surprisingly large amount of work) but QuasarDragon is back with a new module, Goblin Market. It's the second in the PO series, which are based on famous poems. In this case, arguably one of the greatest poems ever, Goblin Market by Christina Rosetti.

It's one of those poems that tells a fairly interesting story in its own right and can be interpreted pretty much any way you want to.

So check it out, it's PWYW, and if you like it, go back and donate. And pick up his Tome of Twisted Terrors, a monster book containing various creatures from folklore, a bargain at $2.

Guidebook to the Duchy of Valnwall from Small Niche Games is now available

Last year (or maybe before that), Small Niche Games put out a free sourcebook on the City of Dolmvay, first mentioned in the Labyrinth Lord rulebook

They've followed it up with the similarly free (or pay what you want), Guidebook to the Duchy of Valnwall, where it's located, along with many of their adventures.

Definitely check it out if you are a fan of LL. While I think it's a far cry from the Known World/Mystara, it's not bad at all in its own right.

41 new monsters from Wampus Country

Apparently I've completely missed out on the Wampus Country blog, but thankfully the author has made some of his creations available on DTRPG with Wampus Country Tome 41: Theriospheric Transfigurations.

Forty-one animal-themed spells of dubious use to the discerning wizard, along with some notes on various animals of the Wampus Country.  Tome 41: Theriospheric Transfigurations is a compilation of material from the Wampus Country blog supplemented with new material.  The spell descriptions therein are for use with Labyrinth Lord or any similar grey-haired game, or can provide inspiration for any system which tolerates some silliness in its magic.
Wampus Country is a fantasy frontier setting of tall tales, humorous action, and winking satire.  As such, the content of Theriospheric Transfigurations may be incompatible with Very Serious Campaigns.

Check it out, it's Pay What you Want, and if you like it, I'm sure a donation would be appreciated.

Saga of the Splintered Realm Map Pack 1 available

Saga of the Splintered Realm was a kickstartered rules-adventure combo, and thanks to the kickstarter, the maps for it have been released under terms of a Creative Commons Share-Alike Attribution License and thus reusable for private and commercial purposes as long as you give credit.

There seem to be about 25 different maps by Michael T. Desing, mostly dungeons of varying size, but also a coastal city, a couple of villages, and even a map of a ship. They are done in the crosshatch style found in old magazines.

The Maze of Nuromen is now The Necropolis of Nuromen

The first (and I think only) adventure for the Blueholme was The Maze of Nuromen, a pretty decent dungeon crawl. It's now been revised and expanded into The Necropolis of Nuromen which adds something of a home base as well as another mini-dungeon, a bandit's lair.

Still Pay What You Want, so check it out.

New PWYW product about Giant Ants

Want to use Giant Ants in your game? Probably not, though it worked well enough in Them!. If you do though, there is Percent in Lair: Ants, Giant a new PWYW product from a new company.

Probably should have said they were "Space Ants" and for use with White Star...

The Tomb of Gardag the Strange—New PWYW Adventure from 3 Toadstools

A new module from Shane Ward of the 3 Toadstools blog. If you follow that (it's on my blogroll), he's been working on a megadungeon but put this out to take a break from it. I am a fan of his previous stuff, so I've been eager for both.
A long time ago lived an evil and very eccentric warlord named Gardag.  Over the years he up aa cult following, many flocked to him and worshipped.  He sent out his cultists to pillage and burn the surronding lands.  Eventually he ammased a huge stock pile of treasure.
*A OSR module for 4 - 6 Characters Levels 3 and up.  Compatible with Labyrinth Lord (TM).
Includes Pre Generated Characters
Interesting Henchemen
One Hand Drawn Map
24 Encounter Locations

Go ape with the new Advanced Ape Class from Great Khan Games

Sure to get the phrase "Get your damned dirty paws off of me!" said at the gaming table over and over is the Advanced Ape class from Great Khan Games. Pay What You Want.

I know these things aren't everyone's cup of tea, but one of the things I loved about getting Dragon back in the day was the new classes. Even though they were usually "NPC" only, I usually could talk my DM into letting me play one.

I don't think I will be using this one though...I've never been a fan of apes. Or monkeys. Or dolphins, for that matter. Squeaky little bastards.

New Pay What You Want Class—The Steppe Warrior

Doesn't say which system it's for, but looks like it's 1e.  Seems to be something of a mash up of the Barbarian and Cavalier (the horse related stuff).

Thistle Games goes Pay What You Want for Christmas

Most notably, Dragon's Rage is an adventure that is largely statless, but has standard D&D features, and Renegade (and Renegade Corruption) which are OSR style fantasy games (not really retroclones, but more neo-clones)

New PWYW Hex Crawl—Unholy Land

This is pretty neat:
Judea, the year 2 BCE. Sometime soon, a baby will be born that will change the course of human history. This even is heralded by the arrival of a star, an omen shining down. The expenditure of divine power has thinned the barriers between worlds and times. Monsters, demons, undead, and antediluvian creatures all stalk the deserts and hills of Judea. Kings, demons, and cults have read the signs and know the star means their doom. They will do anything to kill the prophesied child and maintain their power.
Unholy Land is an old-school hex-crawl campaign for mid-level characters taking place in Judea around the time of the birth of Jesus Christ. What better way to celebrate the holidays?
Suggested price $2.99 and has 26 pages.

The Lizardmen of Illzathatch just released—New PWYW Adventure from 3 Toadstools

The Lizardmen of Illzathatch is a new adventure from Shane Ward of the 3 Toadstools blog

The green dragon Illzathatch has been dispatched by local heroes “The Shields of Atreu”, thus ending his reign of terror across the  countryside.  Only one problem remains, the adventuring party left to raid the lair of the dragon, they have not been seen since.

A OSR Module for 4 - 6 Characters Levels 3
Check it out! I've liked his past work.

The Lair of Largash the Lurid—New PWYW Adventure

And from Canister & Grape (I love some of these "company" names) comes The Lair of Largash the Lurid by Michael Mills.

Largash the Lurid, scourge of the common folk and self-appointed king beneath the rocky hills, lurks deep within his lair. Who dares enter his realm to unthrone this most evil of monarchs? Can your brave party of adventurers defeat Largash the Lurid and his evil minions once and for all? This module is a complete adventure including maps, descriptive text, background information and encounter notes...
For levels 1-3

The Temple of Asibare—New Pay What You Want module from QuasarDragon Games

The Temple of Asibare is the new module from QuasarDragon Games. I guess he changed his mind on the name of it after he produced the cover.
Lying undisturbed for ages, this accursed tomb is discovered by the characters and a great evil is encountered. Will they survive this brush with darkness or will they become its latest victims. An OSR compatible module for any old school RPG or modern clone, The Temple/Tomb of Asibare is designed for character levels 2-4 or an especially harrowing first level.
This stand alone module combines elements of fantasy and horror for an unforgettable adventure of exploration and a desperate race for survival. Although not specifically designed for Halloween, it contains enough horror elements (new and old undead, a slumbering evil, a black cat, and even a dangerous maze) to make it quite applicable.
Pay what you want (suggested price $1.95), 18 pages

Proteus Sinking—Pay What You Want Psychedelic Fantasy adventure

Psychedelic Fantasy being the line of adventures published by the author of Carcosa, Geoffrey McKinney. To me, psychedelic can mean something like that movie by The Monkees to Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd, to two old hippies trying to sell records in the parking lot of a grocery store from out of their VW minibus.

I'm not sure which this one, Proteus Sinking from Bjorn Warmedal falls under, but you can see for yourself. Going by the author's name, it probably involves either Vikings or smurf-like creatures. We'll see.

Update: Sometimes you make a silly guess and it turns out to be true.

The Globonauts are bipedal slime creatures of a fluorescent blue colour. They travel through space and dimensions to find beauty and happiness,

QuasarDragon releases Baba Smerta, a mini-module

Another module from QuasarDragon games, FM-1 Baba Smerta. It's Pay What You Want like their previous one, The Stolen Child.
As night falls on the marsh and the fog blankets the land, the people of the surrounding villages lock their doors and pray that they will be overlooked by the minions of Baba Smerta. For nearly three generations they have suffered her tortures and humiliations.
When one of her raiding parties takes on the PCs, though, have they bitten off more than they can chew? Will this long reign of terror finally come to an end?
***
An OSR-compatible mini-module for any old school RPG or modern clone, designed for character levels 5-6, "Baba Smerta" is easily adaptable to other levels
