At last!

Well, honeybuns, how have you been? I hope you've been doing better than I have, but we're not going to discuss that either here or now. Or ever, really. So if you have an inquiring mind, you're in the wrong place. Unless of course your inquiries are stitch or cat-related, in which case you have come to the perfect (or possibly purrfect) place.

First of all -- and I know this will come as a complete shock to you -- I have made some progress on Noah. *Gasp*. I know.
Before:

After:
It's quite possible that Noah will have to live with only half a coat for the rest of this stocking's life, because I can't even bear to look at the colour 832 anymore. Therefore, I've decided to finish his arm and mitten and the peacocks, and then move on to the stocking's nether regions, where the fun starts with all the beasties.

Dear reader, look away now if you have a feeble constitution and there's only a limited amount of excitement you can handle, for I have two finishes to share. Behold:

Salem Remembered by The Primitive Needle, stitched with the Silk 'n' Colors the design called for, on 40 count pfprrrrrrplplpl linen (sorry. I can't recall the name)

AND:
The Second Angel Sampler by Kathy Barrick -Dieter, stitched on 28 count coffee-dyed and microwave-baked white linen, with the required DMC threads.

Both of these gorgeous, gorgeous pieces are at the framer's even as we write and read. Oh, they were such a joy to stitch. Would you believe it took me longer to finish the wee angel than that huge, 100 x 341 Salem sampler? I'm so into anything Lisa from The Primitive Needle designs. Have you seen her latest? Aren't they all to die for? This is going to be one hell of an expensive year for stitchers like me, with the Goode Huswife Colonial Garden book coming out, and Bent Creek coming up with all of these cute new designs after a couple of years of the blahs (IMHO), and now these lovelies by The Primitive Needle.

Speaking of stitchy goodness, I got some stash:

All of the BBD stockings are an absolute must-have for me, so I'm thrilled with these. I wasn't so happy with the latest Loose Feathers, though.

Hurray, hurray, my newest Primitive Needle! I adore it.

So, what do you think I did right after I was done fondling these new charts? The first person to guess correctly gets a hand-stitched gift from me. Shouldn't be too difficult if you know me, so hurry and take a guess. If there is a lucky winner, I will announce said winner next Thursday, October 1st, on this here blog.

Pelle is at school, and doing well. Pantoef, on the other hand, isn't enjoying life so much right now, poor thing. On Saturday, he learnt that you can't go about trying to catch just any insect you take a fancy to. Those mean, yellow and black striped zoomie creatures STING. Poor Pantoef never jumped so high in his life. Thankfully, after a couple of hours of feeling very sorry for himself, he was back to his old very active and playful self. Sunday wasn't much better though, because necessity compelled me to leave him alone all day, and when I got back I gave him a bath (yes, I do wash my cat, and no, I don't mind cat owners who think that's an insult to our feline companions. I just like it when he's so soft and shiny and smells like almond oil). And who could resist this slightly miffed looking creature looking up at them?

But Pantoef's day today is even less fun than Saturday and Sunday combined, because at this very moment, Pantoef is at the vet's having his balls cut off. I don't think he's going to be very pleased when he gets home (he should've listened to my father, who told him that any man coming near me loses his balls at some point) (which is complete bollocks, of course, because unless there's something he hasn't shared with me, I can't recall anything dreadful happening to his, or my brother's, or Pelle's).

Good grief, how did we get from talking about stitchy goodness to discussing a certain part of the male anatomy? I shall ponder this question whilst enjoying my coffee and my new stitchy start. Don't forget the contest, now!

Yours ponderingly,
Annemarie.

*Edited to add: thank you for the ladies who have taken a guess already. You are all right. I was actually hoping you could be a bit more specific? Like: which design do you think I started? You have to do a bit of work if you want to win something, you know :o))

Hi Annemarie,
Lovely post filled with all things stitchy - love it! Great work. Hey - any pumpkins in your crop this year??

I don't know you very much yet, but I'll take my guess that you went out (or online) and bought more primitive needle charts!

Why on earth does your dad speak of castration as if it were a bad thing? It's a well-documented fact that males of all species are just waaaay easier to deal with once their balls have been lopped off.

As to the contest...you threw whatever you were currently working on into a bin, got out your fabric stash and tried to decide which new project to start? That's what I'd do anyway.

Love your new finishes. I have recently become a fan of the Primitive Needle too.

You're too funny, Annemarie! First of all, congrats on the great finishes! Second, give Pantoef a hug from me when he comes back - tell him it's all for The Greater Good (yours... but he doesn't need to know that). Third, my guess is that you settled down with a delicious intoxicating beverage and started one of your new charts. And finally, I think it's the picture on the cover that doesn't do the new LF any justice :-)

Beautiful finishes! I love the Angel by CHS. Hmmmm, I'll have to look for that one. Aren't there some wonderful new releases? Panteof is too cute. I think he would enjoy our house with the zillion cats we have!

OH WOW!!! 2 GORGEOUS finishes!!! Congratulations!! and wonderful progress on Santa!

Awesome new stash...Not sure what you did next, but I would have kitted and started a BBD stocking:)

Happy Pelle is doing well! Great pic of Pantoef. Chasing bees? OUCH!!

Wonderful stitching (and storytelling) as always! Congrats on those two fabulous finishes...I hope the framer doesn't keep them too long because I can't wait to see them completely done up!

And Noah is coming right along. I'm sure he understands about the coat. Afterall, he did have a ginormous boat to build, lol ;)

Well of course you must have started stitching something from your new stash! My guess is Corn and Grain, just 'cause it's so fitting for the season :) Enjoy!

So glad you're back in blogland! Your finishes are beautiful, and Noah will eventually get his full coat, I'm sure. Just think ... if Noah had balls, you could decide whether to stitch them or not!

Considering your love affair with all things Lisa, I'm betting you started Corn & Grain.

Oh I'm glad that Panteof recovered quickly from his bee sting. He looks so cute wrapped up in the bath towel! Wonderful finishes! I love the CHS angel...can't wait to see them back from the framers!

Great finishes.

Poor Pantoef. Nice to know Pelle is felling much better.

Hello there girl! I understand you have been quite ill. Glad to hear you are doing better. Thank you for your so kind words this morning. I do appreciate them. And I owe you a {{{{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}} too.
Poor Pantoef - I understand how he feels. I was stung by a wasp last week too. At least, I can fill the air with colorful words.
Glad to hear that Pelle is doing well. Take care my dear.

Stunning finishes. Absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to see them framed.

Poor Pantoef. Fist a yellow jacket sting and now his, um, procedure. LOL Poor baby. But he will recover quickly. Better watch your curtains. :)

As for what you've started? My guess is one of the Primitive Needle patterns you have. Maybe Sampler Sisters of the Thread?

Oh Annemarie, I think you just had to start Corn and Grain! What fabric did you pick? When can we see a picture?

Don't worry, my boy cats never held a grudge after their "trip" to the vet. Your dad's comment made me laugh. Isn't it funny how men react. Like when watching TV or a movie and a man gets kicked or hit in the groin, the men watching always groan like it is happening to them.

Deb said...

I was going to guess that your started Corn and Grain too! Fits the time of the year!

Great progress on Noah. I love that piece so much. And great stash. What others are you going to order. I think that all of us have our heads swirling with all the great pieces coming out.

And I just love your kitten. Such a sweet face and eyes.

Now that's not hard to guess - 'Corn and Grain' has got to be your latest start.

Hope Pantoef feels better real soon after his awful trip to the vet.

Love your finishes. You have been working hard. Perhaps you should make the other side of Noah's coat into a patchwork.(LOL)

hugs, Margaret

What great finishes and two of them, wow! I just love the photo of Pantoef, he is so cute.

Oh and the new stash - I'm absolutely positive that you started all of them :)

So good to hear from you again, and so good to see you finishing stitching, you're doing better than me on this... although I am about to finish one of my UFO's, how about that???
I guess you have started the Corn and Grain one already, haven't you?
Any chance you're going to Rotterdam in October and we can meet there? Would love to see you again sometime...

Pantoef won't even remember what all the fuss was about in no time at all!
Noah is looking gorgeous - I am sure you will be inspired to finish his jacket once you get some more of the animals into the picture.
Look forward to seeing your beautiful finishes in their frames.

Awesome finishes Annemarie and I agree about that coat on Noah - I thought I'd never finish that thing but it did get done and yours will too!

Great new stash and I hope Pantoef is doing well. Love the picture of him all wrapped up - what a sweet face!

Hello, shy and reclusive one! Well, maybe not the shy part.

My first thought of what you did with the stash - sat down with a mug of fresh caffeine and pondered how to start them off (and chuck Noah aside - notice the region of his anatomy where you stopped stitching. Wonder if it's related to ..you know).

Really glad to see you out and about. BTW, I just saw that 123 Stitch has a sale on Primitive Needle stuff. I love that big new Halloween one - something Hollow...

OMG, you are to funny! And what a cute kitty. Love all the new stash and your Noah stocking is so pretty.

What did you do first? Why, I'm just sure that you took a look at your new stash, then tucked it safely away so you could finish all of your WIPs, including Noah, Mrs. Slocombe, and that ginormous Prairie Schooler all-in-one project that you shared with us a few months back.

Right?? Did I win?? Shall I send you my address now . . . ?

Such a pleasure to spend a few minutes catching up with you this evening, An. :) I'm just mesmerized by Pantoef's eyes - amazing! And now I think I know where your own sense of humor comes from. :D
Hugs to you and Pelle!

Has anyone come right out and said you started the PN design you just got? That's my guess. However, if it had been me, I'd have pulled out practically every linen I own, and then handfuls of floss skeins, and started an all day (perhaps all week) project of trying to come up with a substitute color scheme that still kept the spirit of the original. And then, after many hours playing like this, I'd have begun something totally different, probably using the suggested floss and linen. LOL.

Kitty hugs to Pantoef. Spin doesn't miss his at all. Nor does Rigby. We won't discuss Niek. LOL.

Your finishes are amazing. I just LOVE the angel, but you know I'm becoming a PN addict, too. ;)

Noah with a half a coat ... forever? Oh dear. He'll get all drafty. I may stitch him wearing Joshua's Coat of Many Colours, however.

New balls, please! Arme Pantoef. Salem + engel zijn super, en uiteraard ben jij per direct aan Corn and Grain en ten minste 1 sokje begonnen!
Toedels!

Heidi said...

Hi there! It has been so long. Poor Pantoef, first a wasp and then the chop. How mean can you bee...lol!?! They recover quickly though. Now you bath your cat only because he has decided it is okay ... for now. A cat will not be bathed if it does not want to. Trust me. :-)

My guess is that you started a new project which you are the best at. I am pretty sure it was Corn and Grain because Halloween is looming in the shadows...

Oh, and you probably did so with a piping hot cup of coffee within reach. :-)

Great finishes. Are you going to start hanging these Halloween finishes in the hall? Will you keep them up year round? I put my holiday stitching away as I need to make space for other holiday stitching...lol.

Hugs en groetjes ~
Heidi

Beautiful blog posting. I love the Noah stocking too. The animals will go fast and you will be glad you were not cleaning up after them like Noah and his family. As for my guess as to the contest,I would think that any coffee-slurper extraordinaire after being gone from the house on a great shopping trip like yours would have to make a pot of coffee and get her favorite cup and sit and slurp and plan and admire her new found treasures. I know that is what I would do if I liked to slurp coffee, I however have to subsitute a orange soda-pop or regular Coke drink.

Two great finishes Anne Marie, congratulations and great progress on Noah.

Love the picture of Pantoef, cute!

Love your finishes Anne Marie and glad Pelle is doing better. Your Noah stocking is really coming along despite the dreaded #832! I'm more of a dog person than a cat person but that darn Pantoef just takes the cutest pictures ever! He sure seems to have a lot of personality.

Beautiful finishes! Congrats! My guess is that you started stitching that lovely Primitive Needle chart you have there. I too love her charts and I have bought Witches Hollow-I have decided it's to be my big project to work on and I am going to stitch it on this lovely fabric called woosteria! I also bought Tombstone Spots and I still have to get Crescent Angel-whew! My wallet is already crying.

I also love The Curse of the Raven by CHS! Help me Lord!

So good to see you back on-line! I'm sure Panteof will forgive you. You're actually helping him out in the long run. All of my male cats are "fixed" and much happier for it. Too bad this isn't a widely accepted practice in the people world, but that's a topic for another day!
Gave myself some "stash-therapy". CHS 'Curse of the Raven', Workbasket's 'Quaker Acorn & Squirrel' and a few others. Should be saving my money to buy a large file to bake into a cake, if you know what I mean!

Okay that has to be the cutest little kitty ever. Love that look "are you done" LOL Very cute cat
