no chill Iceland

Seriously Iceland. You have no chill. Out of your 329 100 inhabitants*, 329 100 are good musicians? I bow to you. Your world is a self-delusion. Your gifts are illusions.

Make sure to check more sounds from Vök here.

walking spring

Not so dark anymore. Feeling spring. And walking it with the jazzy vibes from Phronesis.

a band in our cellar

It actually can get better. As long as we stick to Denmark and the colours in the air.
A powerful day closed by The Rumour Said Fire. Good. Night.

Please meet the directors of the video Graham Dorey and Andreas Munksgaard.

so take me under the floorboards; I would love to feel like wood
take me back to the retards; cause the world just make me sick
there are colours in the air when I fall to the ground
how we'd love to fall more often (...)

I can sense a world of heartache,
but I love the sound
of your hair

efterklang | reverberation

If the week starts like this, what will other days say? Can it get even better? Efterklang.

Video credits go to Jakob Steen and Christoffer Frandsen. Read more about the song here.

Olympiske Leker | The Olympic Games

My Olympics resolution: run regularly. Today is a good start with Casiokids serving an appropriate song for that. Enjoy this great animation by Chad Blevins. And learn some Norwegian! :) I myself have always wanted. That's yet again another point to my endless to-do-list: there is never enough time in the day! :)

Holi colours | Swedish pop

Slick pop comes surprisingly always from Sweden. The feast of colours comes from India. Noonie Bao together with Mats Udd embrace both in a very easy kind of way. And again: cheerful tune, bitter lyrics. Such blends work always best.

because Moshi Moshi said so

I got a news letter from Moshi Moshi and I was happy to see that Clock Opera has a free gig in Rough Trade Store in London next week. I will gladly drop by. I also got a map, a few clues and an Oyster Card (so that it gives me a tiny tiny feeling of being a local ;)) from a friend I haven't seen in quite a while and now I can place those venues for the concerts I have listed. Slow Club also appears in town as the Moshi Moshi news letter informs. They are fun, cheerful and light-hearted but will I trade them for Marcus Miller concert that's on the same day just because Moshi Moshi said so? Tough calls during this upcoming holiday trip:)

Two Cousins video credits goes to the director Lucy Needs, choreographer Ryan Francois and two brilliant dancers Ryan Francois and Remy Kouakou Kouame. Trophy Room video was directed by Pete Ohs (a guy from Iceland who stands behind Arcade Fire's Wake Up video :)).

Hold on, to where you're from.
It's where your heart goes, when you're done.

a good (night) song from Lykke Li and Deportees

Speaking of Lykke Li: here's something she shared via her twitter a while ago already. A song done with a Swedish band Deportees from their 2011 album Islands & Shores. A calming melody to quieten the day down.

Korallreven från Sverige

It's simply impossible to go through all the bands that are involved in SXSW. It's insane! However, having an eye prone to detecting scandinavian nuances, my eyes were immediately drawn to the name Korallreven. Coral reef. Australia? Perhaps. Sweden? Indeed. Samoan Islands? Why not! It all seems to be mixed and work in harmony. Some echos of Panda Bear here and there. I can't make my mind which song/video I like best as each one creates its own microcosmos: Sa Sa Samoa and As Young As Yesterday. Both liberating. The latter perhaps in a more obvious but not diminutive way. Both from Folke Film directors, Filip Nilsson and Marcus Söderlund respectively. Good. Night.

oh yeah, it's a sunny day!

LCMDF - Future Me OFFICIAL VIDEO from LCMDF on Vimeo.

Snow depth below 7 cm. It dropped suddenly during last two weeks from the simply vulgar and outrageous 57 cm snowdrifts! Biking, dusting off my sunglasses, breathing in. Yeah, yeah, it's a sunny day! Emma and Mia, two sisters from Helsinki, hiding behind the name Le Corps Mince de Françoise, make it feel so much more than ok. Releasing their works under the Heavenly Recordings label, LCMDF is scandinavian to the bone in its good pop sense. Well, it's no too slick. It's dusty enough without causing asthmatic reactions. And it's delightfully vapoury as their video (great work of Philipp Kässbohrer). So she says: good, weird songs should be appreciated. Who? Emma! She says it so right! I appreciate it a lot!

something orange/ something blue

I love orange. I think everyone should have something in orange as it boosts your energy. I have an orange bag that I go with to do my grocery shopping and it's much more fun that way, I tell you. Bathing in orange would be fun, too. Non Tiq together with Mats Udd blend it with blue. I find it appropriate as it slightly reflects scandinavian nostalgia. Other than that "Quiet" is so delightfully slick, pop & fresh and so Swedish. So for shattered nerves here's the advice for today: get something orange & let yourself hear again.
