Fusion Card Challenge: Back to School

Hello!  I had some time to play this past Labor Day weekend, so I thought I would play along with this week's Fusion Card Challenge.  Here is the theme/sketch:

And here is the card I made:

I flipped the sketch on it's side, then used the Smarty Pants set from Paper Smooches and the A Good Apple set from Lawn Fawn to create a chalkboard scene fit for any teacher.  I think it turned out kind of cute!

Here is a close up of some of the elements I colored with colored pencils and mineral spirits:

That is all for today!  Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

Fusion Card Challenge

Hello!  My girls have been at a day camp all week, so I am getting some serious card making done!  Today I am back with a card that I created for this week's Fusion Card Challenge

Here is the GORGEOUS picture and the sketch for the week:

http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2014/07/july-17th-french-cupcakes.html
Isn't that a beautiful picture?  I tried to do it some kind of justice with the card I made:

I wanted this card to be pretty, so I added the white sequins and the dyed seam binding to finish it off.  I love how it turned out!  Doesn't seam binding just make everything pretty?  :)

While I am here, I wanted to share another card I made for some friends of ours who just bought a new house.

I used my Silhouette to cut out the stamp-edged background, house and heart.  The stamps are all from Avery Elle.  It's a simple card, but sometimes those are the best kind.  I hope our friends like it.

That's all for today!  Until next time...

Fusion Card Challenge {Red, White and Blue}

As the title says, last night I played along with this week's Fusion Card Challenge.  Ok, so this card isn't red, white and blue, but pink is close to red and there's white...so it's close, right?  :)

Here is the sketch I used:

And here is the card I made:

I think this card turned out so fun!  I masked off the triangle and then used one of the stamps from Avery Elle's Woodgrain & More stamp set.  I love this pattern!! The sentiment is from Avery Elle's Handwritten Notes set and I used Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar distress inks.  Throw on some coordinating Trendy Twine and some Doodlebug sprinkles and this card is done!  Easy peasy!  Oh, the chipboard shape is from the MME's Cut & Paste Adorbs buttons.

Here is a close up of all of the details:

That is all for now!  Until next time...

CAS(E) this with Fusion

Good morning!  I am playing along with the CAS(E) this sketch and Fusion Card Challenge this week!  Here are the inspiration picture and sketch:

http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2014/06/fusion-teaming-up-with-case-this-sketch.html

And here is my card:

I don't have much in the way of gold, but I thought this paper from My Mind's Eye's Flair collection had some gold tones to it.  I also used Pumice Stone distress ink for the sentiment, which also looked a bit goldish to me as well.

I took a queue from a previous card I made when it came to the banner strip in the background.  It's actually a cardlift of a card I lifted, if that makes sense.  I love how this card turned out, though.  The ombre paper on top of the pretty, subtle florals, on top of yummy woodgrain paper.  And with enamel dots to boot?  I'm a happy girl.

That's all for this morning.  Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time...

One Card, Three Ways, Four Challenges

There are SO MANY good challenges out in blog land this week.  I was inspired by the colors and sketches of the challenges listed within this post, so I decided to do something different (for me) and make similar cards with varying elements.

This first card was created for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge!  Here is the sketch:

http://casethissketch.blogspot.com/2014/06/case-this-sketch-79.html

I also used this week's Fusion Card Challenge color prompt as a starting point:

Now that you've seen the inspiration pictures/sketches, here is the card I made:

I created a stencil with my Silhouette and used my distress inks to fill in the pattern.  I LOVE how it turned out!  I stamped a sentiment from Avery Elle's Aim High set in Versamark and used the most delicious embossing powder ever.  I picked it up from a local stamp shop and it's smooth and shiny.  So pretty!

You can *kind of* see the shine in the second picture.  I've never seen embossing powder melt so smoothly before.  I'm in love!

For my second card, I used the same stencil and went off colors from Little Tangles' inspiration photo:

Here is the card I created:

I used more of a rainbow effect with this one, but only went through blue. I stamped a sentiment from Neat & Tangled's Just For You set on a round piece of cardstock and embossed it with the same yummy embossing powder from the first card.

The shine shows up so much better in this picture!  LOVE!!

For my third card, I used this photo prompt from this week's Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge:

Instead of going straight across with the color, like I did in the last two cards, I added it at an angle.  I was able to fit more colors in this way.  I used a sentiment from Paper Smooches' Birthday Sampler set.  I decided to go simple with the sentiment because I didn't want too much to compete with the colors on this card.  I love how it turned out!

Thank you for stopping by today!  I will have more to share soon!  Until then...

Fusion Card Challenge: Fusion #2

After dealing with my two girlies who have had the flu for a few days, I decided to get my craft on this weekend.  I came across the Fusion Card Challenge and decided to play along this time around.

Here is the sketch/photo inspiration:
http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2014/01/fusion-2.html

And here is the card I made:

Yellow isn't one of my favorite colors, so it was different for me to work with for this challenge.  I am so happy with the way the card turned out, though.  I used my gray ink pad and a water pen to do the shading on the jar and used four different Paper Smooches sets.  For the jar and flowers, I used Crystal Clear; I used part of the "Love" sentiment from Warm Hearts and the heart from Word Salad to make the word "Love"; I used the happy anniversary sentiment and letters from the deepest sympathy stamp from Good Gab to create the rest of the sentiment.  I learned of a stamp masking technique from a Paper Smooches video Savannah O'Gwynn put together.  Stamp masking is NO JOKE.  I started over four times before I finally got this to look the way I wanted it.  It's tedious but man is it cool to be able to create your own sentiment from bits and pieces of a bunch of other stamps!

I will also be linking this up to this week's Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge: Anything Goes.  Because, why not, right?

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time...
