NOTEBOOK AND MATCHING CARD

Hey there, boy that Cami...she's a mean one!  She actually cracked the whip on me today, and well...I kind of liked it!  BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!  She told me I needed to get out of my funk and get to blogging again.  So here I am, doing what she told me to.  *grin*

Before I share mine and Cami's project, I figured I would let you know why I have been MIA and haven't been lurking in blog land.  My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in January.  We've been busy doing the doctor thing and trying to figure out her best method of treatment.  We found out she was not a candidate for surgery at this time.  That was VERY disappointing news!  Her health isn't good enough right now, so she was instructed to start chemo and blood thinners then go back in six months for another evaluation.  That was last month and she just now (yesterday) got started on the chemo!  This has NOT been a quick process to say the least!  So with that said...I haven't really been in a crafty sort of mood.  *sigh*  I'm hoping that will change very soon!

Enough about all that!  Now...let me tell you about this super fun project that Cami and I will be teaching at Memories of Time on Saturday!  OMGosh...it was a blast!  We turned a mini legal pad into an adorable notepad complete with mini gel pen!  If that wasn't enough, we made a matching card and envelope in case we want to give it as a gift!

I absolutely love this notebook!  The flower pot and grass are Taylored Expressions dies and the words are from My Favorite Things.  The bumble bee is my all time favorite bee from Our Craft Lounge.  I sure do miss them!  The honeycomb stencil is from Tim Holtz.  We added some Distress Paint to Molding Paste and mixed it in then used a spatula to apply it.  Once it was dry, we sponged some matching Distress Stain over the edges.  I really love the way this notebook turned out and I can't wait to make more!

The notepad has a magnetic closure.  Once you pop it open, you see the gel pen and holder.

Here's the notebook opened up.  Don't you just LOVE that bumble bee paper!?!  And how about those mitered corners?  There's a cool tool for that!

Last but not least, here's the 4" x 4" card that we made with the matching envelope.  Cute, cute, cute!

No details to share with this one.  Mostly because I'm just too lazy to get up and get the supplies.  Ugh!  Sorry about that!  If you have specific questions, you can always email me and I'll get back to you.  Oh, I almost forgot...hurry up and get a hold of Cami to sign up for this class (MOT link above).  You will have so much fun making it, you'll want to make another...guaranteed!  Ha!

Well, thanks for stopping by!

JUN13VSNMINI2 - HO, HO, "OH"!

Hey there, I'm back with another Dog Days of Summer Virtual Stamp Night (VSN) challenge through Splitcoaststampers!  Whoop!  Marg is from Australia and celebrates Christmas during the summer.  Her challenge, Christmas in the Sun, is all about creating a fun, bright Christmas card (no snow) with an extra bonus of using glitter on our projects.  I thought of Surfin' Santa from Our Craft Lounge (*sniff* I miss OCL).  I colored him with Copic markers then used the CAS layout from SCS's SC432 challenge.  My card also follows the Fan Club Central Theme of Hope Floats (surf board floating on water) and the Wordplay challenge, BUOY...here's the break down:

B = Santa has mad "balancing" skillz!
U = "uber" talented surfer!
O = Ho, Ho, "OH" (careful, Santa!)
Y = "yellow" star

I hope you dig out your "tropical Christmas" stamps and play along with us!

HYCCT1226 - RUFF DAY?

Hey there, I'm back with my very own challenge for the Hope You Can Cling To card drive through Splitcoaststampers!

Cancer affects almost everyone in one way or another; whether it's you, a family member or a friend.  2012 has been exceptionally tough for my family...we lost both my mother- and father-in-law to cancer in July and September of this year.  It's the continued support of family and friends that helps us get through this difficult time in our lives.

My challenge to you:  make a project to support someone that may be having a "ruff" day.  Your project must have a dog on it.  Although it is not a requirement to include pink, it would be great if you could work it in!

I can't wait to see what you create!  Remember, to be eligible for prizes, you must upload your project to the HYCCT gallery.  Have fun!

HYCCT1202 TO MY SWEET FRIEND

Hey there, I absolutely LOVED making this cupcake box for the Lee's (aka LuvLee) Hope You Can Cling To challenge, Show Off Your Cupcakes!  My good friend, Michelle, from Memories of Time has an AccuCut (commercial sized die cutting machine) for us to use with all kinds of awesome dies.  I just recently used it for the first time ever...and dang...what in the heck was I waiting for!?!  This project was easy peasy thanks to that machine!  She had dies for the box, the mini cupcake card, the cupcake wrapper and also the little flowers adhered to the acetate.  I used both Sizzix Sizzlits and My Favorite Things dies for the little details (borders, big flower on the lid and the tag).  There for a while I thought I was going to have a stamp-free project...but I came up with something to stamp!  I used the Our Craft Lounge set called Sweet on You and it was perfect!

Here's the pull out for the mini cupcake card...

TO THE HAPPY COUPLE...

Hey there,  I've got a lot of pictures to share with you today!  My hubby's niece just got married and this is the card/box I made for her.  It's a little different than what I normally create.  I love to color and, well, there isn't any on this project.

Maegan's favorite color is purple (she even named her daughter Violet) so I worked in just enough with the sponging to make it pop.  I started with something totally different...gorgeous patterned paper in shades of lavender, but it just didn't come together.  I'm glad I didn't force it because I really like how this card turned out!

The sentiment is from an Our Craft Lounge set called The Journey.  It's a little unconventional for a wedding card...but it's the perfect message for the newlyweds!  The flowers are all My Favorite things dies, the pins are Maya Road and the other beads are from my stash.  I showed my hubby the finished card and he said it had a lot of bling.  I say pfft...really, is that even possible?  LOL!

Here's the inside...the embossed pocket holds a gift card.

Every paper crafter knows it's all about the presentation; am I right?  *grin*  An envelope would just not do for this beauty, so I set to work creating a little box. The sentiment on the box top was computer generated (it's the names of our niece and her groom and the date of their wedding).  The layers used on the card were also used on the box top, another seam binding bow and one tiny rose and leaf complete the box.

I guess that's about it for this one.  Enjoy your day!

BELIEVE

Hey there, *sniff* today is the last day of the Our Craft Lounge / May Arts blog hop.  Did you have as much fun as I did checking out all the projects?  I want to say a BIG THANKS to the MA folks.  I always have so much fun teaming up with them...they have the *best* ribbon!  My card today uses one of my favorite OCL Christmas sets called Be Jolly.  I just love this snowman!  He was stamped on the panel, the snow on the ground and the sky were colored then it was embossed.  The snowman was stamped a second time, colored, fussy cut then adhered directly on top of the other.  I really like the look it gives and how about that MA ribbon!  Is it not gorgeous!?!  The sentiment tag is a MFT die that was colored with Copics.  I have a feeling I'll be using this die a lot this year!

Here's the inside...this whole set coordinates so well together!

COPIC COLORING:

Well, that's all she wrote...leave some love on all of the participating DT blogs, OCL blog (The Lounge) and OCL Facebook page before midnight (Pacific time) tonight for a chance at some awesome blog candy.  After you're done, head over to the MA blog and leave some love for them because they are giving away some candy too!

I've had a great time this week and I hope you have too!  If you've been inspired to break out your OCL images and ribbon...then make a card/project and link up at The Lounge for their Ribbon Challenge...you might just win!

LET'S DO LUNCH

Here's the inside...the Popsicle and puddles have clear glaze pen on them for a subtle shine.  You've gotta love those coordinating images for the insides of the cards!

ALOHA

Hey there, I'm back with another Our Craft Lounge/May Arts fun day of giveaways and inspiration!  It doesn't get much more fun than a day at the beach with OCL's Kona!  Kona is an absolute blast to color and the MA ribbon coordinates beautifully with the new Bo Bunny Hello Sunshine collection Michelle recently got in at Memories of Time!  The hibiscus flower is a MFT Die-namics die and I love it...it was just the right thing this card needed to tie everything together!  I shaped the flower with a stylus on a computer mouse pad.  The stamen was made with a pipe cleaner, glue and clear microbeads.  If you decide to give this a try, allow for plenty of time to dry!  Check out the close-up pic below...you can see the flower's dimension.

Here's the inside...although OCL always has awesome coordinating images, I went pretty simple for this one.
