Nuts About You

We have a ton of squirrels that live in my neighbourhood. Each morning there are about 10 - 15 babies that I watch play in my neighbours back yard racing up and around the tree trunks.
Later in the day I see these babies and the adults busy collecting and packing their food for winter hibernation.
Little Nutty Buddy reminds me of these squirrels and I wanted to use him on a card that I can put in my stash for just the right moment when I would like to let someone know in a fun way how important they are to me.

I coloured up this cutie with alcohol markers, added some shading with Prisma pencils and cut him out using a circle die. The tip of his tail had to be cut a little to slide the die in under it to cut it the size I wanted it.
Next I grabbed some paper from Carta Bella and cut it to fit my design. All of the paper edges including the leaves have a touch of umber ink on them to make them pop a little.
Twine from my stash, skeleton leaves and enamel dots finish off my card.

Mooshie's Christmas Kiss

This week's card features the adorable Mooshie and Mudzie.
Mooshie seems to have caught Mudzie by surprise under the mistletoe and has swooped in for a Christmas kiss! This stamp just makes me giggle and will be perfect to bring a smile to someone on my Christmas card giving list.

After colouring Mooshie and Mudzie with alcohol markers and Prisma pencils I hand fussy cut them leaving a this white border. The mistletoe was stamped and cut from the Under the Mistletoe stamp and Stickles were added to the "berries" for a bit of bling.
An oval die was cut to use as the background. Paper from Echo Park was perfect for this stamp as it kind of looks like mistletoe on the paper. The sentiment was stamped and cut to size and mounted on matching cardstock.
Some sparkly ribbon and gumdrops finish off my card.

Penguin Cheer

I have a lot of friends and family who love penguins so I can never have too many penguin cards on hand. Thankfully High Hopes stamps has lots to choose from! Penguin Earmuffs is perfect for one of the many Christmas cards I will need for the penguin lovers in my life.
I also used two snowflakes from High Hopes to create my Embossed Ink Resist background for this CAS (clean and simple) card.

I have wanted to try an Embossed Ink Resist background for awhile now so this week I took the time to try it out. After stamping my snowflakes I added my embossing powder and melted them with my heat gun. Next I grabbed some distress inks and did some blending - boy did I get inky! but it was so much fun!
Next, I coloured this adorable penguin with alcohol markers and hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge. It is very hard to see in the picture but his ear muffs are coloured with sparkle pen and are very sparkly in real life - so hard to capture that with a camera. The sentiment is a "verse" and for this one I masked off the sentiment to only show the lines I wanted. It is great to be able to mask a stamp and get different uses out of it isn't it?
Some matching sparkly gumdrops finish off my CAS card.

Woodland Santa Christmas

My family and I are literally celebrating Christmas in July on July 25th. It is cheaper for my family from out of the province to come in during the summer so a July celebration it is.
I have some family members who love the outdoors and I think "Woodland Santa" is perfect for one of their Christmas cards.
The High Hopes and One Crazy Stamper design teams will be bringing you Christmas in July for the month - perfect timing for me as I now need to get a ton of Christmas cards done - yikes!

After colouring my Santa with alcohol markers and Prisma pencils I hand fussy cut him and ran a black marker around the edge to get any white I had missed. He was set aside and the patterned papers from Bo Bunny and Carta Bella were cut to fit my design. White card stock was perfect for my snow banks and snow flakes and a pine tree die gave me the perfect size for my tree detail.
Some twine and matte dots finish off my card.

Party Girl

Party Girl Florence is on her way to be the life of the party!
I need a lot of Birthday cards in July and I think this one will be perfect for one of my young adult nieces don't you? Florence just makes me giggle with her party balloons and of course she had to make sure to wear a touch of bling!

I coloured Florence with alcohol markers and cut her out using a classic square die in a diamond shape. I found a fun patterned paper combo using two different 6 x 6 pads from Photo Play and cut them to fit the size of my card. You can't see it well in the photo but I added some sparkle to the balloons with a sparkle pen and her necklace is blinged up with Stickles.
I stamped the sentiment twice so it could be seen on both sides of the diamond shape. Some matching glittery ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Hugs and Fishes

It is officially summer and time to hit the beach!
Willy is underwater but taking advantage of the warmer weather to build his first sand castle of the season.

After colouring all of the stamps with alcohol markers I hand fussy cut and used a classic circle die to cut them out. Next the card base was formed and the patterned paper pieces were cut and each piece was temporarily laid on the to the design so I could see how things looked. Bubbles the fish at the top was stamped on to the paper so I could get her bubbles included and then the fussy cut stamp was glued in to place.
The sentiment was stamped and cut to fit and put in place using foam pop up dots.

Retired Raymond

Raymond is retired and happy that the nice weather is here so he can golf - his favourite thing to do.
I'm glad Raymond doesn't live where I do.....it has been so wet he wouldn't have gotten much golfing in yet, kind of like most of the people I know who golf. Hopefully the nice weather comes soon and stays so Raymond can it the greens.

After colouring Raymond with alcohol markers and Prisma pencils I had fussy cut him and set him aside. Next I found patterned paper from MME and cut the pieces to fit my design. I stamped the sentiment in weathered wood distress ink and threaded twine through it. I added Raymond and popped his golf ball up with a foam pop dot. Some matching enamel dots finish off my card.

Lizabeth Birthday Wishes

A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending a card making class with my fellow DT Bev. We did 4 amazing fun fold cards one of which was an easel card. I haven't made an easel card for a while so it was a good reminder that I need to make more! It also reminded me that I wanted to try making a shaped easel card as well.
I wanted to use Lizabeth Biking Angel on a Birthday card so I decided to put her on a circle easel card just for fun.

I coloured Lizabeth with alcohol markers and Prismacolor pencils and cut her out using a pleated circle die and put a piece of matching card stock behind it. Some sparkly Stickles were perfect for her wings.
I cut the same pieces for the base and set them aside. Next I cut the base for my card and a piece of patterned paper slightly smaller then the base edge for both the top and bottom.
Next I stamped and cut my sentiment, mounted it on a piece of matching card stock and popped it up with foam squares - this holds my top piece in place acting like a stopper.
A cotton lace bow and some flowers finish off my card.

Sweet Birthday Wishes

July is a big month for Birthday's in my family. I have more masculine cards then feminine to make for adults and young adults. Masculine cards are always a challenge for me but I think "Sweet Thing" is perfect for one of my younger card recipients.

After colouring up this fun ant with his huge cupcake with alcohol markers, I hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge. I found a paper combination from YNS and Lawn Fawn that I liked and put my design together. The sentiment was stamped and cut with a fishtail banner die. I added a piece of matching fish tail flag banner to add a fun element. Lastly I added the stamped and coloured image using foam pop dots.
Some simple gumdrops finish off my card. Here's hoping one of my nephews enjoys their Birthday card.

Thank Ewe

For my card this week I decided to do a non - traditional thank you card , meaning using a some what non- traditional sentiment. I always love to have a few thank you cards in my stash so it is easy to pop one in the mail for a friend or family member.
"Posey's For You" is a fun stamp with it's fluffy ewe and posey's and when I found I had the Thank Ewe sentiment - it was perfect for a fun thank you ...er thank "ewe" card. This cutie just makes me smile and I hope it will make the recipient smile too!

I coloured this cutie with alcohol markers, did some shading with Prismacolor pencils and cut it out using a pleated circle die. I thought patterned paper from Echo Park and Lawn Fawn were perfect for this stamp.
The paper was cut to size and glued to my card stock. Next I cut a circle out of card stock to put behind my image. I didn't want the "bulk" I would have gotten if I put it on top of my patterned paper and card stock so once it was in position, I marked it with a pencil and then cut it to fit snuggly against the card stock. I cut my sentiment banner with a stitched banner die and stamped it so it was centered under my stamp.
A banner with a heart, enamel dots and some gingham ribbon finish off my card.

Hello Butterfly

I love butterflies! They are one of my favourite parts of spring and summer.
I love to sit on my porch and watch them flutter around and land on the hanging baskets I always have hanging there.
I have learned that there are different flower types that attract butterflies so I am going to see if I can find some baskets with some of those types of flowers for my porch this year.

I made a card to celebrate butterflies with "Left Butterfly" and "Katie's Bouquet"

I created my scene by stamping three bouquets and the butterfly and coloured them with alcohol markers. Star Dust Stickles were added to the hearts on the wings.  I added some clouds using a cloud die, ink and a dauber and cut the bottom edge with a stitched scallop die.  Some fun gingham and heart patterned paper were perfect for this scene. After cutting the heart paper to size I cut out the word hello with a die. I cut it a second time in white and inset it into the paper. Next, I found the word friend in the size I wanted, masked it off with Post It Notes and stamped it using my Misti. Matching glitter ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Live Life

This week I decided to  challenge myself. I wanted to use a "portion" of a larger stamp by masking it to "create" a new image. Masking a portion of a larger stamp gives me more ways to use a stamp I have purchased.

I chose "Fragrant Blooms" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps and masked off this cute snail and flowers.

After masking off the stamp and stamping only the portion I wanted to use, I coloured it with alcohol markers and Prismacolor pencils and cut it out using a circle die. Next I cut a piece of white card stock to fit my card and added some ink splatters with matching ink to create a bit of a back ground. This was added to some gingham paper from MFT after I inked all of the edges with Distress ink.
I placed my stamp roughly where I wanted it on the card and with the help of my Misti stamped the sentiment. Some twine and sparkly enamel dots finish off my card.

Fairy Garden

If April showers bring May flowers and fairies make a garden grow, then we should be all set in my neighbourhood.
We had a very wet April and May is starting out the same so that is sure to bring flowers. My neighbour and I also joke about having a garden fairy as my roses always do well when I really don't do anything with them and she has plants growing that haven't come up for years. We call our garden fairy Hilda who used to live in my neighbours home and had a way with plants <wink>

I decided "Lilly The Spring Fairy" is a fun way to pay tribute to our garden fairy "Hilda".

I coloured Lilly with alcohol markers, Prisma pencils for some shading, Nuvo Glitter drops for her wings and hand fussy cut her. I set her aside and created my background by blending inks from Stampin' Up and Ranger Distress Ink. I spritzed some water to help create a magical feel and added some Frantage around the edge. Next I cut out my heart flower border die and added some Frantage to some of the flowers to tie my card together. Some matching ribbon and hearts finish off my card.

Oops!

Picture it......a beautiful spring day, the sky is blue, the sun is out, the roads are dry and your bestie and her hubby have come for a visit.
Your own hubby has been itching to take his car our for a rip and the hubby's decided today was the perfect day for it. Hubby's car at the time, was set up to be raced on a track - it was loud and it literally shook the whole house when he started it.
The boys went out and had a good rip in the car and were telling us all about it. They were pretty pumped about their drive including a "little" squeal of the tires in town. It was all fun and games until this showed up in my driveway.......

Someone complained about the noise........but thankfully the nice officer only gave him a warning. Hubby literally walked back in the house and said "Oops!" and this experience became the inspiration for my card.

After colouring the stamp with alcohol markers I hand fussy cut it and ran a black marker around the edge to get any white I had missed. I didn't intend to fussy cut it - my original thoughts on card design went sideways so I had to regroup. I added some silver gel pen to the ring around the headlights.

I added this fun stamp to a banner die and paper from Cartopia from Carta Bella. The die cut houses are cut out of a couple different dies I have and added the town element from my story. Some twine and gumdrops finish off my card.
