Madelyn's First Birthday
Happy Birthday Madelyn!!
I can't believe that she is already one year old. It was a really fast year. One of my favorite things about Madelyn is that she likes to cuddle and give great hugs. She is really sweet.
Her favorite things to do during the day are play outside, be in the bath, and dance to music. She has loved music since the day she was born. It has always been the fastest way to get her to stop crying or soothe her.
Her favorite toys are anything that has a lot of buttons and lights or makes music. She really likes to play on the piano. If we would let her she prefers cell phones, remote controls, computers, and the itouch. She is a technology lover. Madelyn also likes balls. Which of course makes me pretty happy to see her pounding on the basketball and rolling it back and forth. She is pretty good at catching for a one year old if I do say so myself. ;)
One of her newest things to do is climb into this kitchen drawer. Hopefully she out grows it before she gains too much more weight.
The kids had fun helping Madelyn open her birthday presents. Here are a few of her favorites. She really likes the Leap Frog cell phone. Which is by far the closest toy out there that resembles my cell phone. So hopefully she will leave mine alone now.She loves Zhu Zhu pets.
Grandma Oman (Paul's mom) has given each of the kids their own chair. They all love them of course. Madelyn really likes hers. She climbs in and out of it all day.First birthdays at our house are pretty low key. They get a couple of presents and we let them eat bites of cake out of the pan with their hands. We decided to celebrate the weekend before her birthday, so Paul would for sure be there. I had the cake and presents on the table. We were ready for the big celebration, so I went to wake up Paul....
while I was gone, Hannah decided to try and peek in one of the presents on the table. The result was the table tilting and the cake landing face down on the floor, and the glass pan shattering all over. Since it was late in the day, the cake celebration had to be put on hold for another day.
Two days later on Madelyn's real birthday we did take two of the cake. (good thing I didn't try and do any fancy decorating or I may have been really upset.)
Madelyn is excited with the anticipation of getting to eat her first cake. ;)
Yummy!
Happy first birthday! It has been a great year filled with firsts.
We love having Madelyn in our family.

Not cool about the cake & pan. Good thing your kids are so cute!
I loved catching up on your blog!! The kids are getting so big!!! And I loved, loved your post on Mexico. I've been here long enough that I forget what is a novelty. Sounds like it was an amazing trip. So fun! I'm looking forward to being back in the states again with you all.
