Karen Burniston January 2015 design challenge...

Hello and happy new year to you all. It's Karen Burniston design team challenge time again and I'm very excited to share with you some of her newest dies. This months challenge was to include dies from 3 (or more) categories in the Pop it Ups line - those categories are: Accordions & Frame Edges, Pivot Cards, General Pop-ups, Pull Cards, Pop Stands, Edge dies, Characters & Props, Embossing Folders, Accessory Dies.

January also happens to be the month my mum was born so I chose to design the challenge card for her birthday. She loves the owl and the pussy cat poem by Edward Leary and Karen's new cat die goes perfectly with her existing owl die. The first part of the poem reads;

The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
   In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.

On the left you can see the bucket from Karen's new props #3 set with 'coins' in. I made the coins from shimmer sheetz using the bubbles die which comes with Karen's new bathtub stand up die set. On the right is the honey pot from the honey the bear set. The new bathtub makes a beautiful pea-green boat floating in the sea made from Karen's new beach edges die set.

On the front I used the Katie label with the happy birthday die set.

Please don't forget to check out the other designers cards to see what other new and exciting dies Karen has produced.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!!!!

Cute Critters Mr & Mr card...

Happy summer everyone, well it's that time again. This months Karen Burniston designer challenge was to get creative with Karens new Cute critter dies, Hoppy, Poppy and Chilly. They are all available to buy from Elizabeth craft Designs online by clicking on one of the thumbnail links at the bottom of this page.

This challenge coincided beautifully with a friend asking me to make a card for an up coming wedding she is due to attend. I designed it to look sensible and traditional on the outside.

I used the banner die from the Lorna pop it up die set to stamp my congratulations on to, and an Elizabeth craft designs curvy leaves die as well as the heart die that come with this circle pull card designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth craft designs.

I then got to use Karen Burniston's Owl and props dies on the inside and look.......

Two cute guys in tuxedos, Dickie bow ties and bowler hats that kiss when you close the card:)

Don't forget to check out the rest of the design teams creations!!

Happy birthday Grandad...

It was my dad's birthday yesterday so I made him a card using Karen Burniston's Katie label pivot die. This is also going to be my card for the crazy4challenges blog where I am the guest designer this month. This weeks challenge is to incorporate a 3D element to the card.

I used some washi tape I bought from HobbyCraft to jazz the card up a little and added some great photos of our family and one of my parents caravan pitched somewhere in the sunny Netherlands. (Utrecht I think?)
The Katie stitch frame die that came with the Katie accordion die sits perfectly within the Katie pivot die.
Happy birthday Dad:)

Labels for presents...

Just a little post to show you how fabulously quick and easy it is to fancy up wrapping a present.
I wrapped a couple of sheets of tissue paper around the gift. Then I used an Elizabeth craft designs tea cup die that I had already glittered and coloured to attach the string holding the Katie label.

I didn't notice the wind had whipped the label up mid shot!!!

Cute penguin 'never give up your dreams' card...

Say hello to Chilly the penguin. Chilly is one of many brilliant new dies designed by Karen Burniston and coming soon to Elizabeth craft designs.

This card would have been perfect for Karens design team challenge last month which was to create a card with any interpretation of the word flies as a theme.
I love how I was able to make the balloon peel offs translucent by sticking them to a sheet of acetate rather than white card stock after using Els double sided adhesive technique which you can view here.

Accordion 21 and holding card...

I received a silhouette cameo for my birthday and have been experimenting with what I can do with it. As you can see it perfectly compliments Karen burniston and Elizabeth craft designs products.

I have to say I am very impressed with it, I was able to make and cut the circular-ish shape around the Elizabeth craft design peel off balloons. Which when I tell you now, sounds easy but it did take me bit of faffing and tweaking to get it to fit around the balloons so that they sat in the centre of Karens circular accordion die.
The silhouette cuts and if you remove the blade and place one of their sketch pens in the blade slot you can make it write what ever you tell it to. I was able to create the circular wording and the '21 and holding' on the purple part of the card.
