Hello Friends!
So Monday Mr. OTM and I celebrated our anniversary by headin out to do some junkin!
We (meaning me) decided to call it a Day of Love!

Take look at what we found!

Everything is for sale so let me know if you need a price.

All of this is going to wind up in all different  places between the shop, the booth spaces and now the showroom.

The chair is going to get "deconstructed." There is burlap GA-LORE under there!

The little side tables were a fabulous 1984 lacquered mess until I slapped a coat of chalk paint on um!
These have already landed in my Sleepy Poet booth~ 78.95 for the pair.

Oak dresser and mirror ~ nice and sturdy and crackile and chippy.

The mannequin and I share the EXACT waist size!!!  We could be twins!!!
HAHAHAHA!

Who can't use an old chippy white stirrup?

This bowl find was ...CRAAAAAAZYYY!

So there ya have it~ our Day of Love Junk Finds!
We really did have a blast.

Junk In Tennessee

Hello Junk lovers!
A few months ago I got a call from a sweet gal in Tennessee who has been a follower of my blog for awhile. She wanted to know if I would come to Tennessee and stage a couple rooms in her house for a home tour she was participating in.
All expenses paid.
Ummmmmm.....YES I said in less than two seconds flat all the while knowing I should have said something  more professional like,
"Let me my secretary take a look at my calendar and check my availability."
What a great time it was. Such a beautiful home and such a sweet lady.
No photos...dead camera batteries.
Honestly, I swear I should buy stock in camera batteries.
After working , we got to go JUNKIN!
As you can see...WE HAD A BALL!

We were in the Bristol area and they were getting ready for some big event with a British band and the whole town was sparkling! We had to reallllllllly look for the stuff I like to buy~ but it was there.
That area has alot of GLASSWARE (ugh) and old dark furniture.

We were in an adorable town named Jonesborough (oldest town in Tennessee and the Story Telling capitol of the WORLD!) The antique store there was the most musty smelling place I have ever been. I could hardly breath in there. They had 300 fans blowing around that horrible air and even though I am a die hard junker, I was in and out FAST.

We stayed in that general area and hit some yard sales and flea markets.

That's where I found these cattle ear tags!

These AWESOME primitive grapevine trees came  from a wonderful shop in Bristol.
HEY...did you know that when you are in Bristol~ one side of the street is Bristol Tennesse and the other is Bristol Virginia? How cool is that?

Here is my FAVORITE piece we found. It is an old watch makers cabinet. The condition is rough but nice and sturdy.
Gonna give it a little love and see what happens.
This piece is heading to the shop.

For some reason ~ everything I was finding was either vintage green , chippy white or brown.
No complaints here!

This little shabby dresser looks so sweet once we reattach the mirror. It's a smaller size which makes it be able to fit just about anywhere.

Here's another kick I've been on...fruit pickin bags!!
THESE  THREE ARE AWESOME!
So worn and ragged and tattered.

All in all it took us about 4 hours to get there and worth every mile for the scenery alone. Wouldn't some of those photos be nice right about now?
Not really you say...You just want to see the junk???
I hear ya.
You guys have issues.
LOL!!!
Thanks for reading!

Here's a Clue~It's Chippy AND it Floats......

Well today was a FIRST in our JUNKIN HISTORY!
We bought a BOAT!
A white chippy VINTAGE 1951 wooden Sunfish Sailboat!!
I am all but crazy over this thing!
Scratch that.....I am totally crazy over it!
This is exactly how it was when we pulled up to it.
I hopped out of the truck and in less time than it takes to say
Chilly Chilly Chick Chick (previous post)
we were inside payin the man!
She is 13 feet long with fabulous chippy white paint over blue paint~ and a beautiful "you can't get it from a can"
natural patina!
We have already taken it up to the High Point showroom (also a previous post)and now all I have to do is figure out how to display her!
Got any good ideas?? One option is to hang it from the ceiling.
I am so excited to get this cuz it's something different and I have never seen one before~ let alone in my booth!
This should be fun~ stay tuned!!

The Art of Stalking Junk.....

Hello Friends!

If I were to write a book about JUNK.....

One of the chapters would have this title:

The Art of Stalking Junk

In that chapter I would share with you this TRUE STORY of how I did just that yesterday afternoon.

I left the shop about 11:00 am on my way to do a design consultation. Since I didn't want to show up to a professional appointment with my car loaded with junk, Mr. OTM and I emptied it completely prior to me leaving. (I love the feel of am empty car almost as much as one that is full of junk!) ANYWAY.....my first stop was to get some gas. After emptying my 401k into the gas tank, I pulled out onto busy Hwy. 74. As I pull out , I spot a pick up truck with a trailer filled with metal. I follow behind it.

LOTS of metal........"hummmmm" I say to myself.."all that stuff looks pretty beat up....like maybe they are going to the scrap yard or something!"

Holy Cow THAT WAS IT! I was positive they were scraping all that stuff.....HUGE bags of soda cans, old washing machine parts.....and on the VERY END of the TRAILER......

WAS THIS!!!!That's when the stalking officially began!

I HAD to get their attention to see if they would pull over.

More so, I had to see if they would pull over for some crazy chick , on a busy highway.

I pulled up next to them twice and both times I got a

"what's up with this crazy chick beside us look??"

FINALLY, they rolled down their window and I asked them if they could pull over.

THANK GOODNESS he said okay!

So, I am completely pumped up and excited to get this deal done!

Except.... that they decide to "pull over" into the turning lane which , as you know,

is the center of the highway.

Not the most convenient place for your first stalking episode, however it definitely added to the excitement!

"Good grief" I think , "if I don't get killed this whole thing is gonna be so worth it!"

I look around to see if any cars are heading our way or anything like that.

So far , so good.

The guy approaches my car and I tell him I want to buy that metal chest of drawers on the back of the trailer.
He laughs and says that he never had anyone ask him to pull over like that before that didn't have flashing lights and a uniform!

Anyway we cut a deal and I suggested that we move out of the road an into a parking lot!

Lord knows I didn't want my picture to wind up on the front page of the paper because I caused a 5 car pile up in Marshville. I am sure the newspaper article would proceed to explain exactly WHY I was in the middle of the road in the first place....and I am positive that many of you would totally understand ...however...safety first right ???

So anyway....

THANK GOODNESS the trunk was empty!

The guys loaded it up for me and I was good to go!

Not before I give them a business card and tell them to please feel free to stop by the shop first before they head to the scrap yard in the future.

You never know where you are gonna meet a good source!
My fist stalking episode was a success!

And fun...I had to call Mr. OTM right away and tell him what I just did.

He wasn't surprised......one.......bit.

Now fast forward to that evening. I tried a more conventional means of purchasing by going to an auction. Not as much drama like being in the middle of the road or anything, but fun none the less. Especially when I scored.............

this AWESOME 6 foot chippy chalkboard!

It was one of those...."I don't care how much it is I MUST have it" kind of things.

Thank goodness it was wellllllllll below what I envisioned having to pay, considering the fact that my 401k was in the gas tank remember?

I LOVE IT

I LOVE IT

I LOVE IT!!!

This one is probably going to Lucketts with me..

If I can part with it.

We'll have to see.

So there you have it! Two fabulous JUNK FINDS on the same day, but with two totally different stories.

Either way , I was completely happy and went to bed with a smile on my face!

Hummmmmm.....perhaps I should write a book.........

The End!

AND NOW FOR THE INSIDE!!!

Hello Friends!!

You didn't think I came home with an EMPTY trailer did you?She got the OTM initiation!!
The best part is....look at ALL THE ROOM THAT'S LEFT!!!
I only had one day to shop , so you can imagine if I would have had more time this baby would have been filled to the brim.

I bought two awesome old chippy doors and if I wouldn't have had the trailer, there would have been no way to get um. They stuck way to far out of the back of the truck (there is always to roof I suppose! :0).....been there done that right?)

Now for the off load (yep Deadliest Catch fan)!

There is so much chippy, peely goodness in here.

I can't wait to show you everything

Sooooo, guess what I am gonna be doing today!

Stay tuned for pictures.

Have a great day!

P.S. Two neat items added to my Etsy shop today!!
