Lincoln Center is currently exhibiting 14 large-scale abstract sculptures by visual artist Aaron Curry. "It could be an orgy, a dance, a play—I'm going to leave it up to the viewer," Aaron Curry said of installation. Called "Melt to Earth," this collection of 14 of Mr. Curry's abstract sculptures—some as high as 19 feet and as heavy as 1.2 tons—are on display at Lincoln Center's Josie Robertson Plaza until the end of January.

88 Colorfully Painted Pianos Played in Unison at Lincoln Center for "Sing For Hope" Pianos Finale
The 88 colorfully-painted pianos that have been in public spaces across the city over the past few weeks converged last Sunday evening for the "Sing for Hope" finale at Lincoln Center's Josie Robertson Plaza. The non-profit Sing for Hope, started by a pair of Juillard graduates and known as an "artists’ peace corps," will be donating the pianos to needy schools, healthcare facilities, and community organizations after the art installation. During the finale, there was a group performance on all 88 pianos of Bach's prelude in C in unison, producing a beautiful explosion of music at Lincoln Center. The pianos were available for anyone to play before and after the group performance.

Granny Peace Brigade Observes 6th Anniversary In A Silent "Occupation" of Lincoln Center
Last Tuesday night, members and supporters of the Granny Peace Brigade observed their 6th Anniversary by holding a vigil by the fountain at Lincoln Center. The members held signs expressing their firm stand against invasions, wars, occupations, against U.S. military bases abroad, militarization of youth, and human and economic costs of war, domestic and international.
Six years ago, 18 women attempted to enlist in the U.S. Military at the Recruitment Center in Times Square. Not only were they not welcomed, they were arrested…and the Granny Peace Brigade was born.

Lincoln Center's INFOBLADES (Electronic Billboards)
These are the new Lincoln Center electronic billboards, also called "infoblades" installed along 65th Street in Manhattan's Upper Westside. They are part of the new high-tech information landscape on the Lincoln Center campus, showcasing a lively display of information and moving and still images of programming from all 12 resident organizations. The networked screens are being controlled from a central "brain" on the concourse level of Lincoln Center. These infoblades certainly create a level of visual energy around Lincoln Center.

The day after Christmas, a blizzard passed through the Northeast, and more than 20 inches of snow blanketed the New York City area. Some of these shots were taken the day after Christmas just a few hours after snowfall started, and the others were captured on December 27 on my way to work. In the evening of December 26, there was a rare occurrence of thunder and lightning during the snowstorm. According to newsnationalgeographic.com, thundersnow—when thunder and lighting occur during a snowstorm—most often appears in late winter or early spring, experts say. That's because the ingredients for thundersnow—a mass of cold air on top of warm, plus moist air closer to the ground—often come together during that time.
