My 2018 in review

Today is the last day of 2018. Thinking back, it feels like a year where i hit the plateau! But when i start looking back month by month, I realised this year was full of happenings too.

For a start, we moved into our love nest in Jan 2018! Although cpf accounts were low but our hearts are full ❤️ The months after had us inviting friends and colleagues over to host them and it felt so great!

Then, CNY came and it is the first cny without mama. I still miss her loads till date and i doubt time will heal the longing but I know shes watching over the family for sure :)

We were also lucky to be able to travel to Kyoto and Osaka in May this year. It was our first time travelling to both cities and we were glad to go on that trip.

In the second part of the year, I had to make some tough decisions and it seems like the 2nd lowest point in my life apart from losing mama last year. Im hoping I had made the right decision. I was also hit by a scare but thankfully it ends well.

This year is also the year I hit the Big 3. It doesnt feel that big of a celebration and milestone as I was bogged down by some stuffs which I hope I will never have to deal with again. For a period, it felt like I was sinking and spiraling down to the darkest pits of my life but i am really grateful for the husband and family’s love and support for seeing me through those darkest times.

And unexpectedly, 2018 ended on a fairly good and joyous note.

2018 was not easy but it left me stronger and more resilient. I hope to leave the negativity behind and look forward to 2019 with a positive and welcome embrace!

2019, i hope you treat me and my loved ones well and I cant wait to see what you will bring us! I hope for the same as this year, for me and my loved ones to be healthy and well, hit new heights with my career and life! :)

I hope 2018 treats you well and 2019 will be better for you too!

MacRitchie Nature Trail

Last Tuesday, we headed to MacRitchie for a round of hiking! Its been a really long while since we did something so close to nature. It's a really nice change compared to malls and cinemas and we were really glad we did something fulfilling instead of wasting our PH at home.
It was so crowded that day! We spent 50 minutes just waiting to cross the tree top bridge!
Finally!
And finally we started our descent back to our starting point.

The entire 10km trail took us close to 3 hours to finish, no thanks to the crowd. But still a good way to spend PH and get some workout done nonetheless! :D

2D1N Batam !

It is our first wedding anniversary today!

So thought I shall do a quick post on how we celebrate it in advance! About a month ago, we decided to go on a short getaway since it is our first wedding anniversary! Dearie could not take any leave as he is still on probation so we thought probably we could go somewhere over the weekend. And batam was the choice!

We left for Batam last Saturday! Booked the Batamfast ferry which departed Harbourfront Centre at 1150am. Tickets were reasonable at $50 per pax for 2 ways. Collected our boarding passes and off we went!
 Waiting at the gate.
Finally it was time to board the ferry!
And we reached Batam in no time, it was just 45 minutes away!
We booked our stay with Swiss-Belhotel which was a short walk from Harbour bay ferry terminal. Managed to get an early check in to put our belongings down before heading out for lunch.
The massage place opposite our hotel looks impressive! Sadly we did not have a chance to try.. maybe next time!
Cabbed to Nagoya Mall from our hotel and it cost us 30k idr (~$2.70 sgd) and headed to the famous Warung Cobain for some authentic indonesian food.
We ordered sambal kangkung, meegoreng, fried chicken and 2 glasses of ice-lemon tea. Total damage was only $9 sgd!
We forgot to tell them to reduce the spiciness so we were both teary eyed by the end of the meal haha.
After lunch, we explored the mall and also went to the hypermart to do some random shopping! Necessities were really cheap there. We stocked up on toothbrushes, toothpastes, some indomie which cost 30cents per pack, and ABC chilli sauces which were only $1+ for a normal bottle. Really random indeed haha.

After the intensive shopping, we stopped by a coffeehouse for some tea to perk us up as we still had some time before our spa appointment!

We chose the Spa Secret as it was highly raved and we definitely were not disappointed! Furthermore, it was just a short 5 minute walk from Nagoya Mall.
We were 30 minutes early but they were very polite to bring us to our treatment room almost immediately! We changed out of our own footwear into their crocs sandals at the lobby before heading to the second floor for our couple massage.

They left us to change out of our clothes into disposable undies and gave us a towel for us to wrap around.

We went for the 2hour quick spa massage which includes a quick salt bath for cleansing of the feet, full body massage, body scrub and lotion, before ending off with a 15 minutes Jacuzzi bath and a shower.
The entire treatment was very relaxing because the room smelled so good and they even play soothing music while they worked on our bodies. They were very skillful and experienced too! 3 words to sum it up: VERY SHIOK LAH! And we would definitely go back again. We were so satisfied after the treatment that both of us gave a 20k tip to our masseur.

It was 6.30pm by the time our spa ended so we made a quick ride back to Harbourbay for some seafood dinner at Wey Wey Seafood Restaurant! Also another highly recommended place for cheap, fresh and good seafood!
Our rejuvenated faces after the spa haha
 These were what we had
 Black pepper crab!
Half eaten see hum, all for dearie's own consumption :o
Dinner cost us approx $50 each but we find it super reasonable because all the dishes were so good and fresh!

The next day, we headed down for the hotel breakfast at 8am, which was 9am Sg time. I think we slept for close to 10 hours lol shiokk.
Breakfast was decent but nothing to shout about, good enough to fill our tummies hehe

Then we went back to the room to pack our stuff and headed out to buy some kueh lapis back home before going to Bella Italia for lunch!
Pasta were good and they even gave us a complimentary slice of tiramisu!
Another selfie before boarding the ferry back to Singapore!

It was a short but fulfilling getaway from Sg!

And I so wanna go back again! Just for the spa haha.
