Last of 2014 & First of 2015

Sharing some random stuff from last few days of 2014 and first few moments of 2015!

Tsukada Nojo located in PS is one restaurant we always had difficult dining in cause the queue is forever long! They are well known for their collagen pot aka, 美人锅. So finally, we got a chance to try it on one of the days!

At $25 each, these are the standard ingredients that comes together. It might not look much but it really fills the tummy!

Slabs of collagen waiting to be melted~

Everything from veggies to meat to prawns to mini corns and the likes!

A separate dish which we ordered!

After everything was added in, it was one entire pot of goodness! Refill of chicken broth is free for 1st refill and chargeable for subsequent refills! But towards the end of our 1st refill, we already felt kinda thirsty and dehydrated, not sure if it's because of the MSG content in the soup? Cause we still felt the lack of water until the following day!

On New Year Eve where we only worked half day! It's been awhile since we had brunch so we decided to head to Wild Honey!

My Tunisian Breakfast! A sizzling pan of spicy shakshouka (tomato, onion, red pepper, chilli), studded with Chorizo sausage, crowned with two fried eggs, signature brioche & Israeli salad. Quite like this dish cause it's different from the usual breakfast menu and it really goes very well with the brioche!

Dearie had the Canadian! Classic stack of three old fashioned pancakes served with Canadian back bacon, wild forest berry compote & imported Canadian maple syrup.

That night, headed to Bedok 85 for a feast while counting down the New Year!

It was rather shiok to feast out once in awhile!

And I got a thank you card from baby! For staying by his side all this while. LOL. Sometimes I really marvel at how he chose photos to put on cards LOL.

We also headed down to check out our flat's progress! It's building super fast and on its 17th floor the last we went on Dec 2014!

A wefie with our flat! :D Pardon the low quality :(

Dinner at Supply & Demand with the boy! Carbonara & The Morning After Pizza! Worth a return visit!

Celebrating 26th with the Dearie!

Oops it's one month odd since Dearie's birthday! So overdued! I better post this up really quickly hehe. Better late than never ya :)

Advance celebration with his family on a Sunday night, just 3 days before his actual birthday :)

Birthday boy making his wish~ I hope whatever you are wishing comes true dear!

Cake cutting! The red velvet cake from Cedele is really yummy! Finally something that is not from Pine's Garden hehe.

On his actual birthday, we met for a birthday celebratory dinner for him! Made reservation at Sun with Moon Japanese Dining & Cafe! Every year without fail, I will try to research for worthy Japanese restaurant to visit since he super love his sashimi :)

Reading his birthday card here hehe!

Food!

Dearie's Chirashi-Don which was pretty good! Super fresh salmon!

My sukiyaki! Was mediocre unfortunately!

Dessert Trio!
Tofu cheesecake, matcha icecream and sesame cake! Me love the tofu cheesecake but the boy likes the sesame one! Exotic taste someone. hehe

His birthday present from the 3 most important ladies in his life including me haha! A porter bag for work! He really carries it off well! Hehe!

Got him 2 pairs of cufflinks as well since he's starting work and would need to wear them often. Got it off an online shop for a really reasonable price! Chose these exotic and unique designs cause I know he usually get those normal squarish ones so I shall leave him to buy those himself! But both of us prefer the hourglass cufflink more!

How it looks like when worn:

Super pretty! The white sand in the hourglass moves as he moves his hand. Interesting design!

I hope you enjoyed the celebrations and love the presents my dear! 8th year celebrating your birthday and many many more years to come!!

Seoul, Korea Day 4 Part II // Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌한옥마을), Hanbok Trying, Red Sun Restaurant //

After our lunch at Tosokchon, we roamed around Bukchon Hanok Village to check out the traditional houses - Hanok. There are a total of 8 photo spots in the Hanok Village which supposedly captures really pretty scenes of parts of the village. But sadly, we couldn't find any. It might be because of the snow that covered the pavements, alleys which made it impossible to look out for the photo spots. So we ended up just anyhowly taking photos of the place haha.

Some of these hanoks are still houses to many koreans, but some have transformed to cultural centres, guesthouses for tourists/visitors to bask in the korean culture in the village.

I wonder how it will be like living in one of such houses.

After so much walking, our legs were starting to give way so we decided to skip exploring Samcheon-dong which is a hippy area with lots of quirky and interesting cafes. So we decided to head to Seoul Global Cultural Center to try hanboks for free!

We reserved a slot on the spot which gave us approx 1.5hrs of free time but because we were too tired from all the walking, we just chill around in the waiting area and suddenly our slot were brought forward so we actually only waited approx 30 mins! Chose our costumes and we were off to take our mini photoshoot!

Camera died at this point so we only managed to take one group shot. Thank god all of us look quite decent? Hehe.

Wefies again!

We actually took alot more photos but somehow they are not in my phone. Shall update here again when I get them hehe! That's my 书生 and I. Hehe.

To Myeongdong again after trying on hanboks! Bought some street food this time!

This egg toast super yummy? And it was served hot with an entire egg yolk in it!

Hotteok - korean pancake! Only available in winter!

Strawberries drizzled with chocolate sauce!! So sweet and so damn good we got a cup each time we are in Myeongdong. Sometimes even 2 cups haha!

Dinner at Red Sun Restaurant thereafter! Red Sun is in our itinerary of must try restaurants all along but we thought we couldn't find it. Who knows we would chance upon it while doing some shopping in Myeongdong? That's fate calling upon us to try this restaurant out so we did yea! No regrets!

Sneak peek at the menu. Their specialty is Toppokki - korean ricecake and they have several options such as Jajang Topokki, Assorted Ham & Sausage Toppokki and Seafood Toppokki. These set meals comes with the Toppokki, and either fried rice or ice cream! We ordered the Seafood Toppokki for 3 person, slightly spicy and we totally enjoyed the meal!!

Cooking in progress

Almost done

And all ready to tuck in! It was such a hearty meal with squid, dumplings, mussels, prawns, toppokki, instant noodles, cellophane noodles. The sauce is really good too!! I am missing this dish so much already!

Usually after finishing this, we can choose either fried rice where they fry the rice with the leftover sauce, and result in something like claypot rice. But we chose for the ice cream instead as all of us were so full from this already!

And that's how we end Day 4! With a bloated tummy hehe! More entries to come woohoo! Felt so happy documenting and reminiscing everything down hehe.
