As Fall Carries On, Costumes Come Out Of Storage

It is THAT time of the year - when costumes start coming out of storage and onto unsuspecting PETS. You have already seen my PINK HAIR which I totally ROCK! I actually love how it falls across my shoulders and tickles my nose. I can wear it all day and FEEL GOOD about myself.

Molly is compliant for a lot of costumes but she does not really like hats. She is not really standing still in this picture but luckily Cousin E is an awesome photographer and captured her perfectly.

Only Cousin E can put costumes on Sunshine the Cat. And Sunshine will tolerate it for quite a while before it HAS to come off. No one else can do that to her. And yes, there is always a retaliation of some sort.

Me? I'm the easy one. Just flash a treat at me and I will wear almost anything. And as the BIG DAY gets closer, Mommy starts prepping new costumes or primping old ones. All I do is answer the door in them . . I used to Trick or Treat when Mommy #1 was a young girl.

Tiffy, Molly and Me 2 years ago

So How about you? Do you like costumes? I am having a contest and I think it will have to do with COSTUMES. Stay tuned for more information.

Calling All Dog and Cats - You Can Win One of Two Gift Baskets

How do you like MY SELFIE?

As I promised, I am having a CONTEST. It'll be a very simple contest with, hopefully a lot of PARTICIPANTS. That is the only way it will be fun.

As a reminder, here are the TWO baskets up for GRABS

The one above is for KITTIES. It has a can of food from I Love You Love Me, a pouch of the incredible Nature's Variety Healthy Cravings Chicken topper, and toys and goodies I picked up at the PET EXPO, PETapalooza, Natural Products Expo West and so on. All of this resides in a reuseable felt container

The basket above is for Doggies. It has some oatmeal shampoo, a Kong toy, 2 portable food/water bowls. a poo bag holder, a neat totebag, and I think there might be a leash as well. I admit I ate up all the food samples MOMMY brings home. But nonetheless there is some cool stuff there. It too is piled into a reuseable felt container.

TO ENTER

Send me your favorite selfie OR TAKE A NEW ONE. That is all there is to it. If you FOLLOW me on* Instagram, *Twitter or FOLLOW my* Facebook page you get an additional entry per follow. Isn't that cool? I'm going to TRY RAFFLECOPTER for the first time . . . so bear with me a moment while I set it up. . .

Phew! I am glad that is done. Hopefully it works. I pride myself as a PUG that GETS it DONE!!!

Marvelous Minion

I am one lucky PUG! Every Friday MODERN DOG MAGAZINE has Friday Freebies and I always enter for something. I don't often win but playing is half the fun.

Last month, around Halloween they were offering Minion Halloween Costumes. One was a GIRL Minion. I must confess, a lot of my Halloween Costumes are what would be generally considered BOY costumes. And, as all my FURiends know, I am a GIRL. So that is what I told the people at Modern Dog Magazine - that if I won the GIRL costume my Mommy would HAVE to stop dressing me up as a boy.

They BOUGHT IT!!!!! I won a Minion Costume and I was so happy I danced and danced and danced. As luck would have it, "Despicable Me" was on tv and I watched it with renewed interest because NOW I would be representing GIRL MINIONS everywhere.

The costume was provided by Rubie's Pet Shop, a division of Rubie's Costumes. Take a moment to check out their costumes. They have almost anything you can imagine and for really decent prices.

Not too much later, like a couple of weeks or less, after receiving the news I had won, I received an email from Erin at Rubie's Pet Shop Boutique. She asked the important stuff like SIZE and ADDRESS. I figured I was in for a long wait.

Not so long. The costume arrived while I was at Auntie K's cozy home. The minute I saw the box, I knew what it was and I was jumping for joy!!!

I have a lot of clothes - not as many as some, but probably more than average. I wear them when the mood strikes me or when Tiffy comes over to play. It's fun.

This Minion Costume is TOP QUALITY! I loves loves loves it so much that I think I will simply wear it JUST BECAUSE! It is made of soft flannel and is sized just right for my svelte PUG body. The hat is comfortable too and I didn't try to shake it off even once!

You can't really tell from this picture but the bottom has a skirt like attachment. I almost look girly in it.

I cannot wait to SHAKE MY TAIL at the next Pugoween. I am pretty sure I will TOTALLY win the BEST BOUGHT COSTUME contest.

A Game of Treats - And One Shall Stand Tall

Sunshine the Cat entered into the GREAT arena and joined Noodles the Pug and Molly Ragmuffin at the judging table.Their faces were a blank slate - impassive as the first contestant stepped up to the gate. One by one the TREATS entered the playing field. One by One they stood tall or fell as challenge after challenge was delivered.

The contestants were given FOUR of each treat and their reactions carefully scrutinized. No stone was left unturned - no action overlooked.

It was a grueling competition and at the end of the day, the three judges were spent and full. All except for Noodles the Pug. She can never be fully sated. . . hers is an achingly constant HUNGER that cannot be quenched by mere treats. NAY! Nor by mere meals.

In the end - only ONE ranked highest of all . . . only ONE treat will sit on the THRONE of TREATS.

The winner of the GAME OF TREATS will be revealed in a special post SATURDAY morning, DECEMBER 7, 2013.

Crazy Hair and the SITUATION

I wanna remind all of you to CHECK OUT last Friday's blog for all the info you need to enter my latest CONTEST - Crazy Hair to win a PUP-a-TOP.
It will be loads of fun to see all the pictures of the entrants AND THEN decide who is the craziest! I am so looking forward to it. Deadline is this Friday, June 14 at Midnight Pacific Time.

I need to alert you all to a situation that is a-brewing at my CASA. I think you can tell by the look on my face that it is NOT A GOOD thing. What am I talking about? Well, basically it has something to do with Molly no longer being a puppy, Molly being almost as tall as me, and Molly being a bully.

Mostly it has something to do with Molly being a bully. The fact that she is almost as tall as me and no longer a puppy means only that I can do little or nothing about it. She can fight back now - and sometimes she wins.
In the above incident, I am expressing my wish that she SHARE. You see, there was a tennis ball - just one tennis ball. I was playing with it when Molly came up to me and snatched it from my mouth.

Then she began to play with the tennis ball giving no thought to it really being MY tennis ball to begin with. I told myself to be cool - eventually she would give the ball BACK to me OR we could play a game of catch together. NOPE! Not happening. Molly KEPT the ball and no amount of pleading with her would make her give it up. Next thing I know, Mommy is calling us back inside and I didn't even get my chance with the tennis ball. What did Molly do? She sat back down with the tennis ball and LAUGHED at me!!!

That was when I started to yell at her. No FAIR!
But it was already too late - PLAY time was over.

HAPPY THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Find a toy you like and stick with it.

A Splash of Summer

SUMMER came back to the Bay Area over the weekend. It was so toasty that My Mommys limited my outside time. I was NOT going to argue because Princesses do NOT sweat. And I was not into GLOWING either. So I opted to stay indoors the majority of the weekend.

But then Auntie T put up the pool and - well - I could not resist a dip or two in the pool. Ah! The refreshing way it tickled my toes. . . the smooth as silk coolness invading my whole being as I splashed around. It was pure HEAVEN!

Molly is not such a waterdoggy. She tiptoed around a little - but she never really gave in to the experience at all. In fact, she hopped out almost as soon as this photo was taken. Can you see the panic in her eyes? I find this a bit odd coming from a pup who takes 2-3 baths A WEEK!!!! And sometimes SHOWERS! But there you have it - she hates to swim.

I like that the pool is accessible to me all day so even when I am let out only to do my bidness, I can take a quick dip in the pool to cool off. It is so delightful. This, to me is one of the finest things about summertime.

Don't Forget My Contest to WIN a PUP-a-TOP of your very own!!!
I will also be awarding prizes (but not Pup-a-Tops) to the Second and Third place entries.

Check out my post from Friday, June 7th for entering details.

Wente Vineyards Yields More Than WINE

What shall I choose from the WINE list?
Dog Days of Summer at Wente Vineyards was more than just a canine gathering. It was also a showcase for some local businesses. Mommy and I loves loves loves this kind of event, because we usually get a lot of good information (there was a Vet there) and some fun products.

We visited this one table where a woman PAINTED portraits of pets. The next table was for Dog Behavior training - as if! I happen to be an abnormally well BEHAVED PUG. Enough said. There was a dog whisperer type who I TOTALLY dissed because he worried me; and there were 2 dog boutiques that had some really great goodies like leashes, tee shirts, and catchables.

The most unique item was something called Pup-A-Top. The name alone had Mommy guessing what it might be all about. It looked like a dog tag - so what made it so unique?

So we approached Trent, one of the developers and the President of Pup-a-Top, and asked the

THE THREE BIG QUESTIONS:

  1. What is a Pup-a-Top?
Well, it turns out Mommy was MOSTLY right. It is a DOG TAG. But it is more! It is a fun and   functional dog tag. The Pup-a-Top, in addition to being customized, is also a full -fledged BOTTLE OPENER! Mommy gave this a "HMMMMMMM" because she firmly believes you can't have too much ID on your pooch or PUG, and you never know when you might need a bottle opener!
  1. How did the idea come about?
Something about a pool, a dog, and a beer. Okay, okay. cute story - cute dog (not nearly as CUTE as MOI). Ultimately it was a A-HA moment which led to some serious design considerations and business outlines.
  1. How do I get one?
You can buy the Pup-a-Top through their website www.pupatop.com as well as some local (SF Bay Area) pet stores and boutiques. You can choose from TWO sizes - Standard (dogs over 30 lbs)  or Chihuahua sizes - AND 13 colors!!!! All Pup-a-Tops can be customized with up to 3 lines of engraving.

BUT HERE'S THE BEST PART

You can WIN one by entering our NEW CONTEST!!!!! I will have all the details for you TOMORROW June 7, 2013. So please, please, PLEASE come back tomorrow and see how you can WIN A PUP-a-TOP of your very own!!!!

HAPPY THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Entering and winning contests are fun.

Pass Me Some Wine, Please

Saturday was a HOT day in NorCal. Really too much for a pug. Nonetheless, Mommy #2 was up early and busy, busy, busy making preparations for the trip to Wente Vineyards in Livermore. I played it COOL but deep down I was jumping for joy becuase I was going to see my BESTIES -
Tiffy, Donald and Daisy (I had not met them yet), Noodle and Mochi, Zoey and Phoebe AND MAYBE Hanna and Baloo (they ended up not coming due to the heat BUT their awesome Mama did)!

At the appointed hour, Mommy #1, Mommy #2, and Auntie T climbed into Pugsley, Mommy #2's car, and motored over the hill to Wente Vineyards. It was a nice but HOT drive. Even with A/C I was panting a little. When we got to the winery, we didn't see any of our FURiends. So we parked ourselved in a semi-shady spot and Mommy #1 went to scout for the PS group. She found them totally in THE SHADE in the coolest spot! Not only that, it was in full view of the band and the tables of goodies. AND BEST OF ALL  everybody was already there! I immediately went up say HI to Donald, Daisy and their AWESOME 'rents Christy and Tim! I love those folk. Then I made the rounds to Tiffy's amazing 'rents Michell and Gerry; Noodle and Mochi's uber-cool 'rents Jennifer and Kevin; and Zoey and Phoebe's wonderful 'rent Susie. I noticed a strange pug also in the area with PEEPS I had never met. As the day went on, we kinda included them in our circle because they were so FRIENDLY and fun. The PUG's name was Doofy and he was BIG. I am talking Spencer B. kinda big. He was a cool dude. His 'rents were Cindy and Jim. They LOVE LOVE LOVE Pugs. Of course - who doesn't?
This is how I CHILL

We just chilled in the shade, tasting great NorCal wines, eating healthy refreshing food, and talking up a storm. Occasionally someone (okay, my Mommy #2) would wander to the tables to see what goodies folks were selling, sharing, or giving away. She came away with some really neat loot (one of which she will discuss later this week along with an associated CONTEST).

After a few hours, we headed over to Tiffy's house to watch some hockey and play. There was grass to run on, water to sip, and WATERMELON to enjoy! Thanks Tiffy and 'rents for being the most INCREDIBLE hosts ever.

I made a slide show so you can all share in my little VINEYARD adventure. I didn't use ALL of my pictures - I mostly wanted to present a pu'u pu'u (heehee, I love that word) platter of my FUN day.

I am telling you - it was one FANTASTIC PAWty from start to finish!!!

HAPPY THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Make the time to visit with friends. The rewards are tremendous.
