Double Dutch

I KNOW this is Wordless Wednesday and I usually fill my post with frivolous stuff. But something serious has happened and I need to IMPLORE all of you to join in a MAJOR JUJU dance for Dutch, Puglet's brother. Dutch is accompanying his (and Puglet's) human Amanda to the East Coast to take care of some 1000Pugs stuff. When the plane landed, Amanda noticed signs of BLOAT (a serious problem mostly large dogs get) and immediately took him to the emergency vet. Dutch is out of surgery and happily, he survived. BUT the next 24 hours are critical. Please put on your JUJU TUTUs and lets send a cloud of energy so big it will make him well again. I love Dutch (like a brother - who likes pink) and just want him well again.

SOUR Subject

I was in the kitchen HELPING my Mommy #2. She was squeezing a lot A LOT of lemons for one of her PROJECTS. So, naturally, I was begging to try some. I mean the LEMONS smelled so divine that I KNEW I wanted some. Mommy kept scoffing at my whining saying "You THINK you want this?"

Truth was, I did and here is my reaction when I was finally victorious

It WAS yummy!!! It was one of those sweet Meyer lemons from my Auntie B's house. I got a little more off camera, BTW. It was equally yummy. Mommy did not want to give me too much, though, because lemons are very very acidic and could hurt my tummy if I ate too much.

Since I am a kinda of SOUR SUBJECT theme, I want to discuss something that has been happening in Blogville lately - CYBER-BULLYING. And this bullying was all aimed at the lovely and well-meaning Ms Amanda - Puglet's THUMBS. See, Ms Amanda started this wonderful project called the 1000Pugs project where she would devote a year of her life (well, at the time she thought it would just take time and money) to photographing 1000 Pugs and creating a book from the photos. If ANYONE knows Ms Amanda, they know she creates wonderful ART with her camera. I couldn't wait to be part of the project and anything else associated with it. My Mommy literally scraped together the money to DONATE to the Kickstarter campaign AND for the photo session. We are STILL proud supporters of the 1000Pugs Project.
Fast forward some months later and Ms Amanda has fallen behind on her schedules and her updates. The nasty comments begin. They got nastier and nastier (funny thing is MOST of these comments were coming from persons called ANONYMOUS). The project was still going on - PUGS from all over the country were still being photographed - the project, although behind in updates and delivery of proofs, was still on target. The BULLYING went on - is STILL going on. BLOGVILLE is NO place for bullies!!! This is the most UNHAPPY thing I can think of and ALMOST makes me want to skip the Happy Thought of the Day.

 BUT I WON'T GIVE IN TO BULLIES!!!

In Defense

So I was lollygagging about the Internet, avoiding what I should REALLY be doing, when what do I see? Someone BLASTING Miss Amanda and the 1000Pugs project.

Well, this got my HACKLES up immediately because NO ONE has the right to COME DOWN on MY Amanda, Puglet, and Dutch. No One.

 Look at the FACTS - JACK (or whatever your name may ACTUALLY BE since I believe you signed your TIRADE "Anonymous")

• This project is HUGE and no amount of planning could account for the way it SKYROCKETED in popularity and participation
• Amanda is ONE PERSON even though she writes for Puglet, Dutch, Frank and some other assorted "guest" bloggers
• Even with help, it is easy to get lost in the sheer volume of papers and promises
• Amanda wants to do it right - and that means every PUG will look GREAT in the photos; AND keep in mind, the HUNDREDS of shots she takes of each one need to be looked at, categorized, color corrected, and logged

I cannot even begin to imagine how hard it would be to honor obligations for 10 PUGS much less 1000.

SO PLEASE UNDERSTAND that

1. She is not trying to SCAM anyone
2. She is not reneging on the INTENT of her project (and getting rich is NOT the intent)
3. She will eventually deliver all that she promised
4. THE BOOK WILL BE AMAZING

A DREAM of a DAY

I know you are all waiting anxiously for news about my 1000Pugs photo shoot. It was on Saturday at Buena Vista Park in San Francisco. For those of you who are not familiar with San Francisco,well it is one of the most beautiful and unique cities in the world. This was my first trip there and I have to say NOTHING about my day was disappointing. In fact, just the opposite is true. I thought I was dreaming from the time I jumped out of my car at Buena Vista Park.

Buena Vista Park is like a slice of paradise in the middle of a city. It is steep and wooded. And when you get a peak through the trees, the vista is amazing! This way you see the Golden Gate Bridge and that way you see the City. Amazing. It smelled amazing, too - so earthy and rich. Neither of my mommys brought a camera to the park because it was, afterall, a 1000Pugs photo shoot and it just would not have been polite. So I went on GOOGLE and found some stock images of the park.


We were met by the official PUGSPOTTER, Ms. Kyra who is Lulu Louise's Human. Check out their blog at
http://thefogcitylu.blogspot.com. Ms Kyra was super super nice and gave me all kinds of pets and hugs while we waited for Puglet's human, Amanda to be ready for us. It was pretty cloudy and gloomy when we arrived in San Francisco and at the park. Not too too cold but I was sure glad I have a 3 layer COAT! Poor Ms. Kyra was shivering in her PUGSPOTTING spot.

Then Amanda was ready for us so we walked up the small hill to meet her. I had met her before at Bellatrix's Birthday Bash but I was not sure she remembered me. She did!!!! What followed was the most amazing thing I have ever done. Not only were there lots of TREATS involved but there was lots of SUPER MODELING and all of it OFF LEASH! I really felt at home in the park and Ms. Amanda is so nice and sweet that I did not want to leave her. But I had to because she had many more pugs coming to the park to see her that day.

After Mommys and I left Buena Vista Park we walked DOWNHILL to a dog friendly cafe called the Dobuce Cafe. It was a long way but worth it.

We sat there for a while and ate (yes, even I got some veggies) and then we had to WALK UPHILL to our car at the park. It was so steep!!!!

It was tough but we finally made it BACK to Buena Vista Park where our car was BUT we did not go to the car. We kept walking back into the PARK!! What the dog?!?!? We went back to where we were "SPOTTED" and there was Ms. Amanda! She was going to take care of me while my Mommys visited the city and watched the Chinese New Year Parade!!! OMD! I was elated! And I had so much fun hanging with Puglet and Dutch. Well. . . mostly fun. I was a LITTLE intimidated . . . but I was really enjoying myself. Mommys came and picked me up from their house when it was really dark and I was sound asleep.

I had SWEET dreams of San Francisco, 1000Pugs and Amanda/Puglet/Dutch.

I need to get my beauty rest so I look refreshed.

I am dreaming of the day I can be ONE of the 1000. . .

No, we have not signed up yet for a date with Puglet's Human, Amanda. We are working with her on locating the bestest spot ever.

In the meantime, however, we joined the GROWING ranks of supporters by donating via Kickstarter.

So what if it is GRAY and RAINY today - We feel better already.
