Louisiana "Academic Freedom" Law

It looks like the Louisiana "Academic Freedom" law may very well pass, much to the chagrin of the liberal *nazi evolutionists. There was a time in this country when critical thinking and exchange of ideas was encouraged, but the left's many special interest groups (Darwinists, Homosexuals, Global Warming Alarmists, etc.)have fought to stifle any thought or verbalization of ideas that run contrary to their dogma.

Almost hysterically, Barry Lynn of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State issued this statement: “This bill isn’t about improving education in Louisiana; it’s about sneaking religion into the science classroom.”

No, Barry, it's about questioning the status quo. Questioning theory that is presented as fact. Questioning those in the world of Science who have set themselves up as gods who are not to be questioned but to be worshipped blindly as the all-knowing of the universe.

Everything has a cause. But rather than reaching back into infinity, most of us come to the conclusion sooner or later that there had to be at some point in time, an uncaused first cause. The universe, which science says is slowly winding down, can not have always existed. There had to be something or someone to be the first cause - and that cause had to be uncaused. I believe that First Cause is God. I'm not alone - and those of us who believe this should be allowed to discuss the evidences for and against any theory concerning origins.

I applaud those of Louisiana, as well as other states like Missouri, Alabama, Michigan, and Florida, who have enough courage to push for a law allowing the questioning of the theory of Evolution. If you want to believe it, by all means, it's your perogative. But don't force your beliefs on those who think differently and then accuse us of trying to force our beliefs on you.

Watch out for the Birds and Bees!

Too Cool!

Military Robots the size of Birds and Insects

I could have used a couple of these when I had three teenaged boys living with me at the same time!

Wonder why these couldn't be used in schools, high crime areas, universities, etc.? Or would it be "Big Brother" becoming a reality?

Shades of Terminator

I love the Terminator movies (minus the foul language, which my DVD guardian system beeps out for me). I can envision a planet that has been taken over by artificially intelligent machines that some wacko dictator or subversive government has developed.

That’s why this article caught my attention.

For those not inclined to go and read the article, here’s a synopsis.

University of Sheffield professor Noel Sharkey is warning that technology is producing more autonomous robots that have the ability to act in the place of the human soldier on the battlefield.

Sounds great. Less loss of life – a clash of robots instead of a world war bloodbath, right?

So what happens if this type of technology gets into the wrong hands?

What about terrorism? Instead of a terrorist strapping on a bomb, just send in a robot.

And what about robots making life and death decisions on their own, totally apart from their makers?

"I have worked in artificial intelligence for decades, and the idea of a robot making decisions about human termination terrifies me," Sharkey said.

Interesting stuff.

Theistic Evolution: Unnecessary Compromise

Without Genesis, there is no Christianity.

I’ve heard a lot of Christians say they just don’t believe the literal account of Creation in the book of Genesis. They've become convinced that evolution must be true, so in order to fit that with their faith, they have bought into the lie of Theistic Evolution – the idea that God did create the universe and all that is in it, but that he did so thru evolution. This compromise is not only not necessary, but it actually undermines the whole Christian faith.

Christians wrongly assume that science has proven evolution, so they choose Theistic Evolution in order to reconcile science with their belief in God. The trouble with that is there is no reconciling the two.

Major Problems with Evolution:

There is no evidence for evolution in the fossil record
There is no evidence for evolution in the present (it is not taking place today)
There is no working theory of how evolution takes place
There is no viable explanation in evolution of the origin of life
There is no viable explanation in evolution of the beginning of the universe
There is no real evidence from geology

There are many reasons Christians can’t accept anything but a literal belief in the Genesis account of creation, but the number one reason is the question of evil:

Either man’s fall (sin) caused suffering and death

Or

God caused suffering and death

*If you accept Theistic evolution, you must reject Genesis 1, 2, and 3, and since Moses wrote the first 5 books of the Bible, you must reject them as well, since he loses his credibility
*If you accept Theistic evolution, you must reject that Adam and Eve existed.
*If Adam did not exist, that makes others in Scripture who spoke of him liars who are no longer credible. That includes Moses, the apostle Paul, and Jesus Himself.
*If you accept Theistic evolution, you must reject the genealogies of Jesus in the New Testament
*If you accept Theistic evolution, you must reject belief in the inerrancy and infallibility of Scripture

Everyone has a right and free will to believe what they will, but evolution takes faith just as much as or more so than Christianity. The real reason evolutionists won’t give up their beliefs is because they reject the thought of a God Who is to be obeyed. Here are a few quotes from noted evolutionists about their beliefs:

The more one studies paleontology, the more certain one becomes that evolution is based on faith alone” – Professor Louis T. More, evolutionist (The Dogma of Evolutions, page 160)

The known fossil record fails to document a single example of…evolution…” –Steven M Stanley, evolutionist (Macroevolution: Pattern and Process, page 39)

Evolution is accepted “not because it has been observed to occur or can be proved by logically coherent evidence to be true, but because the only alternative – special creation – is clearly incredible.” – Professor D. M. Watson, evolutionist (quoted by D. James Kennedy, Why I Believe)

Evolution is unproved and unprovable. We believe it because the only alternative is special creation which is unthinkable.” – Sir Arthur Keith, evolutionist.

I suppose the reason we leaped at The Origin of the Species was because the idea of God interfered with our sexual mores.” – Sir Julian Huxley, evolutionist.

Many brilliant scientists reject Darwinism. For instance, Paul Lemoine, a former president of the Geological Society of France and director of the Natural History Museum in Paris once said, “The theory of evolution is impossible. At base, in spite of appearances, no one any longer believes in it…Evolution is a kind of dogma which the priests no longer believe, but which they maintain for their people.” The Creation Research Society has over 600 members, most holding advanced science degrees, and all of whom reject Darwinian evolution. The inventor of the MRI, Dr. Raymond Damadian, is an outspoken creationist. So the next time someone tries to tell you that you are uneducated and uninformed to reject evolution, let them know you are in good company with some of the most brilliant minds in the world, including Isaac Newton and Louis Pasteur to name a few.

Science as God

I love science. I like to hear how things work, I love nature, I love to learn about this wonderfully created world that God made for us. So I hang out at science websites. One of my favorites is Live Science.
Once in a while though, I get really irked at the pride and arrogance of some scientists that believe they are gods themselves, inerrant and infallible, with all the answers. They forget that some of the greatest scientists and mathematicians of all time were Christians. I got ticked yesterday when I read this. They could at least get their facts straight while they are ridiculing Scripture and the book of Genesis.

Here's an excerpt from the #1 Creation Myth according to the science gods:

"Genesis, the first book of the Jewish Torah and the Christian Bible, contains two origin stories, both of which are accepted as the creation of the world by today's Jewish, Christian and Islamic faiths...God anesthetizes Adam and makes one of his ribs into the first woman, Eve. A talking serpent persuades her to eat the forbidden fruit, and she convinces Adam to do likewise. When God finds out, he drives them from the garden and makes man mortal. They should have stuck with apricots!"

I hate it when people mock God.

Science and Christianity are Compatible

As a former agnostic for over 40 years, I am familiar with the arguments used to support anti-Christianity. However, having been metaphorically "hit in the head by God" (Romans 1:22), I now understand that these arguments and attacks don't hold water in the face of the evidence of the truth of God's Word.
Fallible humans sometimes err on the side of science (Spontaneous Generation, only 1,200 stars in the heavens, a flat earth, using leaches for medical cures, etc. — all once considered "science"). But to say that science and Christianity are incompatible is to sell science short. Where science and Christianity differ, science has or will come around. God is the ultimate scientist and mathematician, and medical and scientific men and women of great intellect and intelligence have attested to the accuracy of the Bible. These include Isaac Newton, Francis Bacon (primarily responsible for the establishment of the "scientific method"), William Hershel (the astronomer), Samuel Morse (inventor of the telegraph), Louis Pasteur, John Ambrose Fleming (considered by many as the father of modern electronics) and the list goes on.
Agnostics have sneered at the "hundreds of historical mistakes" in the Bible — only to be silenced by the science of archeology. The Bible told us before science that the Earth was round (Isaiah 40:22), the Earth was suspended in space (Job 26:7), the stars are innumerable (Genesis 15:5), there are mountains and canyons in the sea (2 Samuel 22:16 and Jonah 2:6), there are ocean currents (Psalms 8:8), and it even declares the first and second laws of Thermodynamics (Genesis 2:1-3 and Psalms 102:25-26). The Bible is not a fairytale. It is a handbook for living and contains the ticket to eternal life (Romans 10:9).

Evolution vs Creationism

Evolution vs. Creationism

As a fairly new Christian [since February, 1999], and as one who studied Anthropology/Archeology in college, I am very familiar with both sides of this argument.

The truth is, both sides base their beliefs on faith.

During 1859 when Charles Darwin published his theory on the evolution of man, “Spontaneous Generation” was considered a “scientific fact”. In other words, frogs grew from stagnant water; worms came from manure, maggots from rotting meat, etc. etc. However, Louis Pasteur later totally discredited this theory and today scientists realize that spontaneous generation is utterly impossible, and yet they continue to teach that somehow, the source of the first life on earth WAS through this same disproven theory. (Of course - now some are saying that life here actually came here from another planet - so where did THAT come from???)

Creationists believe that all life reproduces “after its kind” as stated in Genesis.
Evolutionists point to small changes or adaptation within a species to try and argue that this proves evolution. Even Darwin said, “Not one change of a species into another is on record…We cannot prove that a single species has changed.” (Darwin, My Life and Letters, Vol I, p. 210). This is true even today.

So, as science continues to change theories etc. as new discoveries are made, God’s Word remains the same.

Evolutionists believe that in the beginning, there was nothing, and then it exploded.
Creationists believe that “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth…”(Gen 1:1)
I believe that my faith in creationism, as God has revealed to us, is no less credible than the faith of evolution. In fact, science continues to prove itself wrong, and God’s Word correct.
