Joseph Whidbey State Park

This park, on the west side of the island and just south of NAS Whidbey, is one of my favorite places to take a gentle hike in the woods.

There are views of the Salish Sea and the San Juan Islands.
The path is well maintained, through woods and grass. It was a bit muddy so I was glad I had my hiking boots. See the tracks of a stroller?

There were lots of forest sights along the way.
It is a nice hike through nature.

Joseph Whidbey State Park - February Flood

We had received nearly half of our annual rainfall in the first six weeks of the year and it showed in the flooding of this beach trail at Joseph Whidbey State Park.

Sailing on a Windy Day

I was near Joseph Whidbey State Park on a blustery day, watching this fellow have a great time. One man's trouble is another man's joy.

Mountains around Oak Harbor at Dawn

It was the first clear morning in what seems like months so I was out at dawn yesterday to catch the North Cascades,
Mt. Baker,
Mt. Rainier,
and the Olympics. The first three photos were taken in Oak Harbor while the last one was taken near the entrance to Joseph Whidbey State Park on the west side of Whidbey Island.

Smokey Sunset

The smoke from the fires in eastern Washington made for a colorful sunset last night. The smoke particles always give an unusual cast to the sun's color. I was on the west side of Whidbey Island at Joseph Whidbey State Park.

Growler at Sunset

The Growler (upper right) had just taken off from NAS Whidbey when I was at Joseph Whidbey State Park to catch the sunset earlier this year. The jet was a contrast to the tug (lower left) slowly plodding along.

Capturing the Sunset

I wasn't the only one at Joseph Whidbey State Park on the west side of Whidbey Island last night capturing this ship as it motored north on the Salish Sea.
