Happy Spring Emma

Today looks more like spring than yesterday.  All the snow has melted and the sun is a shinin'!  Yeah.  My card today uses a Whimsy Stamp's image called Summer Day Emma.  For today though she is Spring Day Emma.

  I used the Recipe Challenge over at Die Cuts R Us.  The recipe is 1 Stamped image, 2 Die cuts, and 3 buttons or bling plus some ribbon.  I created the frame around my image using 2  Labels One nestabilities.  My sentiment is enclosed in one of the NEW Spellbinders called Labels Eleven.  ( seriously...why do they have to name them all labels...sooo confusing)  Go check out the spellbinders... they are on sale right now.
I can tell you that Claudia ships VERY quickly.   Love that!

I colored Miss Emma in with Copics.  I keep forgetting to take a picture of my copics for you.  Sorry.

Speaking of Copics...tomorrow is my Certification class.  I can't wait.  I have some prep work to do before I go.  It's going to be a long, fun day.  I hope I can learn some better techniques on shading and shadowing.  Wish me luck!  My kids are excited to have me go since they get to spend the night at a friend's house.

Ok....off to go dance with my kids, exercise and then yard work.  Doesn't THAT sound fun~~~~

Whimsy- cal Sunday

Yesterday morning I was trying to finish up my card for today and my main, GIANT light source died a very quick death....leaving me in the dark.  I felt that was a subtle hint that I was NOT to spend the gorgeous  day in the basement.  This morning I have a much better fluorescent bulb in my basement.  I really think it shows things in better color.  Yippee!  I made another card for the Make A Child Smile challenge over on the Whimsy blog.  I really hope that you will participate in this challenge.  There's Whimsy $$ up for grabs.  Even if you don't have a Whimsy image (which you should) you can download one for free to use.  Please check out the blog post I have linked above for details on that.   This card is for Brianna.  She likes toys with buttons so I figured she might like a card with buttons too.  She is also lives in Ohio....like ME:)



My card today is also for a few other challenges.  I used Inspirational Card Sketches #58 for my sketch and I incorporated some of the ideas from Lisa Johnson's newest challenge on her blog....Poppy Seed Challenge.
The challenge is to use buttons, polka dots and light moss (color...not actual moss:) on your card.  My "moss" is a bit dark not light.  I finally used some paper by Jillibean Soup that I bought in November.  It is actually Christmas paper on one side and the other are the 2 patterns you see.  THAT is an awesome idea for double sided paper don't you think.

Yesterday I used "Halloween" pearls and today "Christmas" paper.  I always was a bit behind...LOL

A Spin on the Merry Go Round Whimsy Blog Hop

Always On My Mind



  

Here is a Whimsy Creation I made this week.  I love frogs.  I think THIS ONE is so sweet.  Doesn't he just look like he is thinking about someone so fondly?
I used the colors from this weeks Color Throwdown: Chocolate Chip, Pink and Green.  I also used the sketch over at Splitcoast.  Allow me creative liberties on that though.  I have really been trying to use up my scraps.  Therefore, I can't really tell you where the paper I used comes from.  I know the pink is from The Digichick and the leaves are a card stock vellum.  My flower was made by using various sized circle punches.  I cut them out, distressed with a distressing tool and ink.  I really wish I could sew a circle.  I'm going to work on that.  Please check out this creation, as well as, many others over at the Whimsy Inspiration blog.

Whimsy Mythical Release Blog Hop

Today is the release for the new Mythical Line of stamps, as well as, a new line of sentiments.  If you've come to my blog from Stacey's then you are on the right track.  If not, please hop back to the beginning  (Simmone's blog) and follow along for some fun and inspiration.

  The stamp I am featuring today is called, "Water Lily."  I decided to use her without the flower today.  I  wanted to put her on a box I created to hold packets of seeds.  This would be a great gift for someone you know that likes to garden or even fun for a child.  What a great way to get them involved in gardening.  I realized that I forgot to add some glitter to her wings.  All fairies should sparkle.  You can find the FREE template for this box HERE.  I decided to add a belly band to the top of my box to help keep it closed.  This went together very quickly.

Happy Valentine's Day



I finally made it back today to post this card for this week's Whimsy Challenge...Sweetness and Love.  You have until February 22nd to participate over at the Whimsy group at  SNR Card Universe.  Whimsy is also sponsoring the Colour Create Challenge blog as they celebrate one year of challenges.  Head on over.  The color combo is one of my favs:  Pink, White, Choc and Red.  I used that same Bo Bunny Paper again from this morning.  I think this is the cutest of all the owl stamps I have seen.  Maybe because that's probably what my hair looks like when I get up in the morning.  I also have that same expression before  my first cup of coffee:D

I had a hard time putting this card together.  I finally used the really fun sketch over at Card Patterns today.  I have also discovered the joy of crepe paper.  I can't wait to get some more and start playing around with it.  How fun and CHEAP!  My favorite things:)  Today is also the last day to enter into the Die Cuts R Us Challenge.

Hope you are having a great Valentine's Day.  I can't believe tomorrow is Monday already.  Geesh!  I hope next week goes a little better than this week.  My kids will be home again tomorrow and we are headed out skating.  That should be fun.  I hope to have another creation for you tomorrow, but if not I will have a sneak peek for you on Tuesday.  Whimsy is having a release party on Wednesday.  Hope you can come and hop along with us.

Emma on Penny Lane


It's a really late post today.  I've finally managed to get a card made for the Whimsy Challenge this week to use lots of frills.  I think this image called, "Summer Day Emma," is so pretty.  This reminds me of my little girl.  She has always loved to pick flowers and would chase butterflies for hours when we lived in the country.  I used some paper by MME called Penny Lane.  That embellishment in the corner was something I picked up at the dollar store last week.  What a FIND!  I also got some vintage buttons on clearance last week.  A great deal too!  Speaking of great deals, head on over to the Whimsy store for a deal.  Denise is offering $5 off when you spend $25 or more.  Use the code: save5 during checkout.  This offer is good thru Sunday the 7th.

Winter Blues



Well, I'm not feeling the winter blues, but that is the challenge today over at Stamptacular.  We'd like to see your creations using a winter theme and only shades of blue.  I decided to use this cute image I got at Whimsy Stamps called, " N'ice Friends."  I think this is the cutest snowman.  I had so much fun coloring him.  I decided to use some leftover pieces of sparkly felt.  These are actually scraps from my Popcorn award.  It makes me so happy to use up scraps.  I also used the sketch over at Splitcoast this week.  I really love the sketch so you will see it again in the following week.  My card is finished off with some beautiful PTI ribbon.  I love their dotted satin ribbon! Because I used ribbon, I will also be entering this into the DCRU challenge which ends today.

Whimsy Stamps Snowball Fight Blog Hop!

Ouch!  I've been hit!  Today the Whimsy Stamps Blog Hop is a Snowball Fight.  Hopefully you have just come from Debbie's blog If not, you can start at the beginning of the blog hop HERE.  The hop will go from now until Saturday, January 30th at noon EST.

   It's sure to be a fun time checking out all the new images in the Snickerdoodle Kids Collection.  Today I have a sample using the  SUPER cute Sledding with Marty and Max .





When I saw this image it reminded me of my brother and a dog we used to have.  We used to go sledding as kids at Deadman's Hill.  Now, if that doesn't make you a bit scared to go down the hill what will?  It was always so much fun to go there though.  So I made this card for my brother.  He lives in L.A. now so he doesn't get to go sledding much.  It may be hard to see, but this is actually a clear card.  I used some scrap glittered felt that I had leftover from another project.  It worked perfectly.  This card has a lot of sparkle to it.  I used LOTS of glitter.  My brother's going to either love me or hate me as he sparkles for days after getting this.  One thing is for sure....he'll be thinking of me in some way:)  Because I used glitter I am going to enter this into Lucy's Challenge this week.
