Belle Wave

The fresh quilt was made by Cheri and the pattern is called Belle Wave.  The pattern is available as a free download from Art Gallery Fabrics blog here.

Cheri and i were debating between a light custom treatment or a pantograph for this one.  Once we tried out the Tickle Too panto we both were sold.  I used a white So Fine thread that was subtle over the quilt top.

This is just one of the lovely quilts that will be on display at my local guild's show happening in just two weeks.  If you are in the vicinity I suggest that you come check us out!  Vendors are Road 17N from Winkler, Keystone Quilts from Winnipeg and Fabriculous from Swan River/Gimli.

Alternate Routes

This is Mona's version of our Alternate Routes Pattern by Highway 10 Designs.  Her beautiful fabric choices really allow the piecing to stand out.   Mona added an extra row from the original pattern to allow for her unique layout.  I have to say it does not get old seeing one of your designs made by a fellow quilter!

We decided on the Tickle Too panto and black So Fine! thread with Quilter's Dream Blend batting.

Mona selected one of my Stonehenge wide backings and I think it is the perfect compliment to the front.

The Alternate Routes pattern is available as a pdf download or by mail in our printed version in our Etsy Store.

Radio Way

Cindy sent me this pair of cheerful lap quilts.  The pattern is "Radio Way" by Jaybird designs.  These are Cindy's first quilts and I think she did a fantastic job.

Both quilts have this nice modern grey backing fabric.  We decided to use Quilter's Dream Puff batting and two different pantos that were similar, but had their own character.

Cindy and I don't live close enough together to meet in person, so to give her almost the same experience she would have if she came to my studio I sent her photos with a variety of panto tracings placed on her quilt top so she could let me know what her likes and dislikes were.  I find these panto tracings take some of the guess work out of deciding if you like a panto or not.

Cindy chose "Tickle Too" for this one.

And "Gothic Vine" for the second.

I must add that these photos were taken a few days and the ground is much whiter around here now!

Not Your Mother's Rail Fence #2

Here is a look at a "Not Your Mother's Rail Fence" quilt that I just completed for Fabriculous - a great (semi) local quilt store. Wendy at Fabriculous has just expanded her offerings to include more batiks (yeah!) and we thought this Highway 10 Designs pattern would be the perfect way to celebrate them.

The quilt is batik front and back.  I used a shiny plum Magnifico thread on the top, and a new panto called "Tickle Too".  I think it is going to become a fast favorite!

As I was out photographing this quilt I noticed the rabbit highway in our back yard going from our RV to the garden.
