The Slenderman Mysteries: February 2018

Coming from me in February 2018: The Slenderman Mysteries:  An Internet Urban Legend Comes To Life.

And here's the publisher's (New Page Books) info on the book:

"It’s the dead of night; you are fast asleep. Suddenly, you are wide awake but unable to move. Hunched over you in the shadows is an eight- or nine-foot-tall gaunt entity with spider-thin limbs, dressed in an old-style black suit, its pale face missing eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. You finally manage to cry out. The monstrous thing disappears as suddenly as it appeared.

"You just had a terrifying encounter with the Slenderman.

"Who―or what―is the Slenderman? His existence began on the Internet, but he didn’t stay online. The Slenderman may be a tulpa, a thought-form that can stride out of our darkest imaginations and into reality if enough people believe in it. In May 2014, two young Milwaukee girls almost killed a friend in the name of the Slenderman. Perhaps, like the vast Skynet system in the Terminator movies, the Internet is turning against us―and attacking us with digital equivalents of our own online nightmares.

"The Slenderman has come to life. For the first time, this book reveals the full and fear-filled saga."

A Monster In The City

Every few months I write an article for the "Creature Of The Month" section of New Page Books' blog.

And here's how the new one starts:

"Of all the many and varied unknown creatures that are said to inhabit our planet – such as Bigfoot, the Abominable Snowman, and the Chupacabra – perhaps the most chilling ones are not those that lurk in dense, faraway forests, in remote and expansive jungles, and on distant icy mountains. The ones that we should really be wary of are those that live practically under our very noses. It’s one thing to read accounts of extraordinary animals and rampaging monsters in faraway, exotic environments. It’s quite another thing, however, to have such monstrosities almost lurking on our doorsteps. But, incredibly, there are far more than a few reports on record of terrifying beasts seen deep in the hearts of our towns and cities. To be sure, it’s a chilling thought that, as we sleep, menacing beasts may be roaming around our very own neighborhoods. All of this brings me to a certain, memorable affair that absolutely defines the 'monsters are among us' scenario."

Mind Wars - Reviewed

There's a new review from me at Mysterious Universe of the new book from Marie D. Jones and Larry Flaxman, Mind Wars. Here's how it starts:

"It’s always a good day when a new book comes along from Marie D. Jones and Larry Flaxman. And today is a very good day! I’ve just finished reading their new book, Mind Wars, which does not disappoint in the slightest. It’s fascinating, illuminating and – you’ll soon come to see why – highly disturbing, in terms of the issues it covers.

"Published by New Page Books, the full title of the Jones-Flaxman release is Mind Wars: A History of Mind Control, Surveillance, And Social Engineering By The Government, Media, And Secret Societies. I should first begin by saying that I have read a lot of books on the subject of mind control – some of them very good, but many of them filled with the most paranoid, deluded nonsense one could imagine. Fortunately, Mind Wars falls 100 percent into the first category."

The Children of Roswell - Coming in November

Coming in November of this year, another new book on the world's most famous UFO crash. Yeah, you know the one.

The title: The Children of Roswell: A Seven-Decade Legacy of Fear, Intimidation, and Cover-Ups, by Tom Carey and Don Schmitt.

Here - below - is what the publisher, New Page Books, says of The Children of Roswell:

This is not just another book about Roswell. It's not about any of the events surrounding one of the most famous UFO incidents of all time. It's not even about any of the men or women involved in the recovery of a spaceship and its crew in the summer of 1947.

Rather, it's about the aftermath--the lifetime impact Roswell has had on the families who were forced to live with the truth while accepting the government's account of the incident, then forced to face years of suppression and fear of reprisal from a government sworn to protect them.

Despite the government's best efforts to explain it away, after nearly 70 years, Roswell is a story that just won't disappear. Parents who were present during or immediately after the incident may have passed on, but their children know what happened‚ and have paid dearly for their knowledge. These are their stories. You will finally learn the truth about:

  • The daughter of a witness to an alien body who discovered that her phone had been bugged for years.
  • How the U.S. Air Force tried to change the mind of the son of the Roswell intelligence officer in 1995.
  • What really became of the son of the principle witness, who disappeared in 1960.

These are stories worth reading that force you to think about why the government would go to such lengths to keep these families quiet.

    Not A New Book

Received in the mail a few days ago, my newly-published Top Secret Government Archives.

It's important for me to note that this is NOT a new book.

It's a new edition of my For Nobody's Eyes Only book.

The only differences are that (A) this is a new edition published by Rosen Books (the original was published by New Page Books); (B) it has a new cover; (C) it has been retitled; and (D) it's in hardback, whereas the original was paperback.

But, if you already have FNEO, you already have this one, too.

Just needed to warn everyone, so they'll know what they are buying!

    The Graveyard Werewolf

Every 3 months, or thereabouts, I do an article for New Page Books' "Creature of the Month" section of their blog.

And, there's a brand new one from me, this one on a weird series of sightings of werewolf-like beasts encountered in England's Cannock Chase woods, back in 2007.

    Here's the link...

    And it starts like this:

"It probably won’t surprise many to learn that the British Isles – which are steeped in legend, myth, and folklore - have traditions of full-blown lycanthropy in their midst that date back more than 1,000 years.

"One of the most famous of all such beasts has become known as the 'Flixton werewolf.' It was a marauding animal that prowled around the village of Flixton, North Yorkshire, around 940 AD. It struck terror into the hearts of the locals as it went on violent killing sprees, reportedly at the bidding of a sinister magician who was familiar with the black-arts."

    A Cemetery Monster

There's a new Creature of the Month article from me at the New Page Books blog, and which starts like this...

"A cemetery in Guadalajara, Mexico that is noted for its highly decorative architecture, pillared buildings, elegant tombs and spacious, tree-enveloped grounds, Panteon de Belen was built in 1848 and closed its doors four years before the dawning of the twentieth century. But, that hasn’t stopped its residents from being highly active – which is somewhat notable since each and every one of them is, of course, quite dead!

"Not only that: Panteon de Belen can boast of being home to more ghosts, ghouls and fiends of the night than pretty much any other cemetery in Mexico – and quite possibly even the world, too. That same body of supernatural entities includes just about everything from pirates to bloodthirsty, undead vampires, and spectral hounds to a ghostly, shrieking nun. And such is the interest and fascination in the specters of Panteon de Belen, that guided tours of the cemetery have become incredibly popular, and particularly so – and certainly most appropriately - during the course of the Mexican holiday of November 1-2: Day of the Dead. And, now, you shall see exactly why."

Creature of the Month: One Eye

My latest Creature of the Month article at New Page Books' blog is on the little-known saga of "One Eye," the alleged monster of Lake Granbury, situated just a short journey from where I live.

You can find the article here, and here's how it begins:

"Every year, in the city of Dallas, Texas (which is just a short drive from my Arlington home) I do a series of lectures on the subject of cryptozoology, otherwise known as the study of unknown animals. They are lectures organized by one of the local school-districts for kids aged from about 7 to 9.
"Of course, they love hearing about such things as Bigfoot, Nessie, the Chupacabra, and the Yeti. And they love to pick my brains with a mass of questions!
"But, it’s not just the kids that find the lectures intriguing. Occasionally, a parent or several will come along, to see what’s going on. And, sometimes, they will even share a story of the notable and intriguing kind..."

Close Encounters of the Fatal Kind

Had copies of my new book, Close Encounters of the Fatal Kind, arrive yesterday afternoon. The official publication date is June 23; however, you can pre-order it at Amazon right now.

And here's the publicity info for the book (which is published by New Page Books):

Everyone has heard of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. But what about close encounters of the fatal kind? The field of UFOs is rife with unsettling examples of suspicious deaths. Accounts of accidents that might not have been accidents after all, abound. Researchers and witnesses have vanished, never to be seen again. Conveniently timed heart attacks are reported.

Out-of-the-blue suicides that, upon investigation, bear the distinct hallmarks of murder, are all too common. And grisly deaths at the hands of both extraterrestrials and government agents have occurred.

Highlights of Close Encounters of the Fatal Kind include:
    • The strange saga of the incredible melting man.
    • The UFO-related death of the first U.S. Secretary of Defense, James Forrestal.
    • The mysterious disappearances of military pilots and their connection to UFOs.
    • The connections between national security and the sudden deaths of UFO investigators.
Getting too close to the cosmic truth about alien abductions, Roswell, and what the government really knows about UFOs can—clearly—be a deadly business. The government’s latest admission of the existence of Area 51 is barely the tip of a very big iceberg.

    Werecat Weirdness

Every few months I do an article for New Page Books' Creature of the Month column. And my latest has just been published. I have written about some weird shit in my time, but this has to be near the top of the list: Britain's Werecats...

But that's not all: I wrote and submitted the article to New Page Books last Friday. One day later, Saturday, I took a drive into Dallas to visit a second-hand bookstore I like to check out now and again.

It was while scanning the shelves containing old 1950s-era detective novels (my favorite type of novels) that I caught sight of the spine of a book titled Secret Society, written by Dillibe Onyeama.

I picked the book up and was amazed to see that the novel was about an African cult of "Leopard Men" that embark on a violent killing spree in London, England!

Were-Leopards are a staple part of the overall Werecat phenomenon

How weird is that? I write an article on Werecats in the UK, and then barely twenty-four hours later I stumble on a novel on Werecats in the UK!

The picture below shows me holding the novel (I snapped it up for a dollar):
