RIP Stanton Friedman

Hanging out on Tuesday night in Los Angeles with good mate Greg Bishop, toasting to the life of Stan Friedman. I have a lot of memories of Stan, who will be missed by many. This is the last photo I took of Stan, at the Big Bear Lake UFO gig in January of this year. RIP.

"A" Is For Adamski - A Great New Book

Over at Mysterious Universe, I review the new book from Greg Bishop and Adam Gorightly: "A" is for Adamski, which is excellent! Here's how my review begins:

“A” is for Adamski is an excellent new book from UFO authors / Flying Saucer historians Adam Gorightly and Greg Bishop. As you may have already guessed from the title of this large, approximately 400-pages-long book, it is focused on the Contactee movement. It chiefly covers the “Golden Age” of the long-haired Space Brothers, as the authors describe it. They are are talking about 1947 to 1978. And, as you will also likely have deduced, the book is presented in an A-Z style. Both Greg and Adam have a longstanding interest in – and a fascination for – the era of the Contactee and those human-looking aliens from Venus and elsewhere who warned of atomic war and the end of civilization. Allegedly, of course…

California, MIB and WIB

Here are a few photos from my trip earlier this week to California, to speak for the MUFON Orange County group and for the Los Angeles UFO and Paranormal Society. The subject: the MIB and the Women in Black.

A good time was had!

Got to hang out with good mate Greg Bishop (author of Project Beta and It Defies Language), as well as with a few other friends in Ufology.

"It Defies Language!" Reviewed

At Mysterious Universe I review Greg Bishop's new book, It Defies Language!

Here's how the review starts:

Back in 2006, Greg Bishop and I were invited to take part in a new venture of the ufological kind. It went by the name of UFOMystic. Basically, it was a website where me and Greg were given free rein to write about whatever crossed our minds, providing it was on the subject of UFOs. And, for several years, we did exactly that – and pretty much on a daily basis, too. Our content ranged from reviews to articles, and news items to lengthy features, the latter sometimes split over a couple of days. But, as is the case with all things, UFOMystic ultimately came to an end and the site was closed down. Now, however, it’s back, in book format. The title: It Defies Language! Essays on UFOs and Other Weirdness.

When, some months ago, Greg called to let me know he had secured the rights to all of his old UFOMystic material, I told him that was great news. It’s still great news! Over the several years that Greg wrote for the site, we got to see some of his best, most thought-provoking, work. Collectively, it challenged the reader to confront new and radical concepts when it came to the UFO enigma. It offered alternative scenarios for classic cases. But, most important of all, it made people think outside of what passes for the ufological box. And to think carefully, too.

That's me and Greg, 2014, in California.

Roswell Slides, Radio, and More

Still more on the Roswell slides:

1. A new article on the slides from Kevin Randle which reveals a great deal of behind the scenes information on the whole affair;

2. Check out Greg Bishop's Radio Misterioso show, as last night me and Greg spent a couple of hours discussing the matter of the slides, the background to the story, and a certain hacker...

The Dulce Underground Base - A New Book

Available now is a new book I'll definitely be getting a copy of: Dulce Base: The Truth and Evidence from the Case Files of Gabe Valdez, written by Greg Valdez.

As many of you will know, the story of the alleged "underground alien base" at Dulce, New Mexico is one that has played a major role in UFO/conspiracy circles for years. Check out, for example, Greg Bishop's book, Project Beta.

But now we have a further look at the controversy surrounding Dulce, as you'll see from the book-description, as detailed below by the publisher:

"FINALLY YOU WILL GET THE TRUE STORY AND EVIDENCE BEHIND THE MYSTERIES SURROUNDING DULCE, NEW MEXICO. SEE WHAT AND WHO IS BEHIND THE CATTLE MUTILATIONS AND THE ALLEGED UNDERGROUND ALIEN BASE IN DULCE. YOU WILL ALSO HEAR THE STORY OF PAUL BENNEWITZ AND SEE WHAT REALLY HAPPENED ON THE JICARILLA APACE RESERVATION. FOR THE FIRST TIME, YOU WILL SEE SECRETS THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT WANT YOU TO KNOW.

"In 1976, Gabe Valdez became one of the leading investigators into the cattle mutilation mystery that was spreading across the United States; based on his employment with the New Mexico State Police. As he started investigating the mutilations on the Gomez ranch outside of Dulce, New Mexico, he stumbled into much more than he bargained for.

"His investigative findings led to a close friendship with Paul Bennewitz who was involved in a massive government-authorized disinformation campaign originating out of Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The harrowing tale of Paul Bennewitz led to the story of the alleged underground alien base near Dulce, New Mexico.

"For the first time, you will see what really happened in Dulce during the 1980 s and you will see what the government does not want you to know. This true story is full of plot twists that were intentionally created by Air Force Intelligence and other clandestine Intelligence agencies associated with the United State Government.

"This book will separate fact from fiction and you will final be able to see the truth. Get ready to read about military projects that are still currently classified and get to the bottom of this mystery. You will now have access to photos and evidence belonging to Paul Bennewitz and others which tell a very interesting story which have never been released to the public."

That's me (above) with Gabe Valdez, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 2009. Below, and taken on the same day, a shot of Greg Bishop at the grave of Paul Bennewitz.

Abductions - Out of the Body

My latest Mysterious Universe article addresses a controversial aspect of alien abduction accounts. Hell, all the aspects are controversial, but for me, one stands out. It starts like this...

"One of the aspects of so-called 'alien abduction' experiences that fascinates me is the way in which some witnesses report their mind and visual-senses becoming detached from their physical body during the course of the encounter. Two cases, in particular, stand out. UFO researcher, good friend, and author Greg Bishop, says of one particularly relevant case from 1973: 'The main participant in that case was named Judy Doraty, and she had been driving back from a bingo game on May 23 of that year outside Houston, Texas, with her daughter, mother, sister, and brother-in-law.' Suddenly, everyone in the car witnessed 'a bright light in the sky' that seemed to be pacing them.

"'On their return home,' Greg continues, 'the light was still with them and, ominously, moved in closer. The family, as well as a group who came running out of the Doraty house, was shocked to see a huge disk-shaped object with rows of windows float silently over the property and across an adjacent field. It soon shot off straight up into the sky, going from ‘very, very big to very, very little in a matter of seconds,’ Doraty recalled.'"

Road in the Sky Reprinted

Not too long ago, I wrote a post here on a recent, weird, and synchronicity-filled weekend I had in Los Angeles.

While there I hung out with good mate Greg Bishop, who very kindly made available for me copies of the FBI's file on 1950s Contactee, George Hunt Williamson, which had been declassified via the terms of the Freedom of Information Act, but which I had previously never seen.

(As readers of my On the Trail of the Saucer Spies and Contactees books will know, the FBI spent years watching the early Contactees such as George Adamksi and George Van Tassel.)

Well, it so happens that securing the file from Greg turned out to be very useful.

In another of those curious situations born out of synchronistic oddities (well, I consider them odd!), Tim Green Beckley contacted me recently and told me he was just about to republish one of Williamson's old books, Road in the Sky.

Tim's reason for contacting me about this was to inquire if I wanted to submit an article on Williamson for the book. But it would have to be something new, largely unseen and that added something significant to the saga.

I had, of course, the perfect thing: the FBI file on the man in question, as provided by Greg only weeks before!

Tim, of course, was highly enthused by this and, as a result, my article on Williamson and what J. Edgar Hoover's finest knew about the man appears in the new edition of Williamson's old tome.

And here's Tim to tell you more about the Road in the Sky and that file...

A STRANGE SAGA OF SAUCERS, SPACE BROTHERS, SECRET AGENTS AND ALIEN ASTRONAUTS THROUGHOUT ANTIQUITY George Hunt Williamson – known as “Brother Philip” throughout the highlands of Peru, the jungles of South and Central America, and the arid plains of the Southwest – traveled the longest highway in the world, leading him to discover a vast road into the sky that can be linked to the arrival of visitors from elsewhere in the universe throughout the ages. Within these pages are the stories of the Hopi Sun Clan, including the legends of the “Giant Star.” The secret of the Stone Tablets of Peru. The Time Spanners. The Beacon of the Gods. The Martian Miniatures. Fossils, Footprints and Fantasy. Evidence for the existence of the “Silent World,” and the reality of the Unholy Six. Also this is the book that gives: * Williamson’s behind-the-scenes battle with the FBI and the Silence Group. * His investigation into the mysterious disappearances of Hunrath and Wilkinson, who might have been murdered or abducted by UFOs. * The accusations of smuggling and his “association” with a sexy flying saucer pilot whom the FBI identified as a “ravishing woman commandant!” Williamson, sometime in his life, must have come to realize that, in America, if you try to buck the status quo or change the system you can easily be slandered and identified as a dangerous dissident, whether you are called a communist, a fascist, or a neo-Nazi. Many of the contactees of the early UFO/New Age communities were unduly slandered, as was the man aka “Brother Philip.” It was also suggested that Williamson was a “Mind-Controlled Soldier” of the Soviet Union, a label he found difficult to shake off during his years of embattlement with the “system.” How he persevered in spite of all this undeserved conflict makes for a story of true UFO heroism.

Mysterious Musings On Misterioso

While hanging out with good mate Greg Bishop at his Los Angeles home last Sunday, I was interviewed for his regular show, Radio Misterioso.

Doing so is always fun, not just because Greg is a mate, but because he has a very refreshing and flexible approach to his show. In other words, just about anything and everything is up for discussion - and it was!

Over the course of about two and a half hours, we dug into such matters as our favorite Fortean books, the state of paranormal TV (total night-vision-dominated crap!), the Contactee movement, and a great deal more.

Greg has now posted the interview online and you can find it right here.

PS: That's Greg, above, in a picture taken by me in December 2010, at the site of George Van Tassel's legendary Integratron. Greg was getting ready to take the skies and make like Mothman, while me and Andy Colvin watched and took photos.
