After a deep exploration of several kinds of electronic dance music, in a broad evolutionary path, Giorgio Gigli's music has assumed an intense and personal form of communication. The modules emerging from his compositions run across a process where moods are transformed into waves, layers and substrates that are ready to catch and overwhelm the listener without changing original content. His skill is to transmit an accurate signal using undiscovered frequencies inspired by desolate and noir tinged landscapes. Giorgio transforms his material. Voids, pitfalls, drones and dilated melodies become intricate, sophisticated, and hypnotic rhythmic equipment that runs the risk of constantly changing classicist techno aesthetics in a conceptual derivation close to his soul.
Giorgio loves ambient music that dues to its descriptive power allows him to analyze and render every vibration and vision, both during production and his long dj sets, where he explores empty rooms that are filled with vintage recordings, ethereal drones and field sonority. This particular working method is also reflected in his harder sets, where rhythm increases tension while it is moving forward unchallenged through industrial echoes, robotic tricks and building grooves that produce shaped variations of his meaning. Substance thickens to provide a thoughtful and reflexive listening experience.

For the 9th Cut release, and the first of 2012, Existance (the
talented Louis Hunt from Oxford) brings us a 3-track selection of deep
dubstep-influenced tracks.
Taking a clear nod from the classic sound of dubstep, as well
as continuing the emotive sounds of our existing Cut catalogue, Louis
brings us three excellent pieces from the vocal-led "Miles Apart" to the
piano-driven bliss of Pelennor Fields.
His sample, synth, bass and drum selections fit very well
together, and his ear for a great melody and strong but not overbearing
bassline is evident on the EP.
Like a selection of our previous output, Existance provides us
something that we can happily listen to on headphones, yet something
equally at home in the DJ bag for warming up the dance.
Bristol's Ekoplekz «lo-fi analogue/dub warrior revolutionaire» is an electronic project of Nick Edwards. He has a new debut album (Following releases on Mordant Music and Further) called 'Intrusive Incidentalz Vol.1' via Peverelist's Punch Drunk label. «His sound is somewhere between radio phonic dub-scaping and post-industrial electronics, that you can trace back to Cabaret Voltaire. »
New projects: Ekoclef is a new side project; in collaboration with my old chum Ralph ‘Bass Clef’ Cumbers. We have an album called “Tape Swap” on Ralph’s label Magic & Dreams.
About the mix: this is just a mix of some music I’m currently enjoying. It was recorded entirely live (no software) with some added sound fx (reverb/echo/phasing, etc). Alva Noto is a pseudonym of German sound/visual
artist Carsten Nicolai. It's difficult to bring into focus the breadth
of Nicolai's achievements in the various disciplines he's been involved
with since the early '90s, but he is perhaps most well-known in music
circles as a co-founder of the groundbreaking Raster-Noton imprint, and
his collaborative work with Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto. The pair
has proffered several full-length pieces through Raster-Noton in the
past decade, and Nicolai has been no less prolific elsewhere, releasing
around ten albums over that time period either solo or in tandem with
artists like Opiate and fellow Raster-Noton founders Olaf Bender and
Frank Bretschneider. As with most things Nicolai turns his hand to, the
music of Alva Noto is characterized by fierce experimentation. Wild
packs of glitches, tone generators, looped oscillators and communication
signals are tamed and assembled into sprawling ambient passages and/or
rhythmic explorations, the latest of which, univrs, sees release on October 17th.
On RA.276 Nicolai somehow captures the breadth of the Alva Noto sound
world in a 51-miute set that moulds the music of Fennesz, Andy Stott,
M.I.A., Steve Reich, Nine Inch Nails, Byetone and Donnacha Costello into
a coherent whole.
