Enjoying Where We Live

We live in such a great area.  There are TONS of things to explore and things to do.  This afternoon, my husband was able to come home early, so we took that time to see a local attraction; Mt. Vernon! I did not know what to expect here, but this place is SO great! I really loved it, and hope to go back again!

It Tugs At My Heart

Our oldest was in a preschool in NY, and we had to pull him out early to move. He made some really good little friends, and his teachers were amazing.  It made me sad to have to take him out early because it was such an amazing place.

His class took pictures before he moved, and they mailed the picture to us this past week.  We put it in a special frame, and this past Sunday he sat on his bedroom floor for close to an hour just staring at his picture and naming all the people he missed from the picture.

We need to find this kid some new friends!

Finally Getting Settled

Last I posted, we had just moved from New York and we were enjoying a lovely vacation with my side of the family in southern Utah before we moved to the DC area.  Well, vacation is over and we have successfully completed our first full week of life here.

Our vacation was beyond lovely. (I will post pictures later) My entire family was there, and it was just perfect having all of us there.  I hate living so far from family.  They are just the greatest!

Greg started his job this past Tuesday, and so far so good!  Having him done with school is beyond great. He technically doing an internship, so we really could go anywhere at the end of the summer if a different job opens up.  At this point, we are totally open to whatever, so I am excited to see what will happen!

I like  our actual apartment and the immediate area around it, but you don't have to go to far from our place before it starts to get a little scary.  We only have a 3 month lease, so we are seriously considering finding a new place to move after the internship is over.  We will just have to see where a job takes us!

We have only had one car for the past few weeks (we sold our durango the week we moved) so I have been kind of stranded here since Greg has been driving to work. (We live kind of far from a metro, so it is actually faster for him to drive since he leaves before 6:30 in the morning.) Like I said before though, the area around us get kind scary so I don't really like walking too far from our place which makes the kids and I pretty much stranded.  Not that fun! Well today we bought a car! We found a car on craigslist that was used, with relatively low mileage, and was being sold for a great price! Now my options for exploring the area are endless, and I am excited to see more of the area with the kids.

Life is so different here, but it is good.  It will just take some getting use to.  Some things I am not sure I will ever get us to though.  Like the traffic and the hot and humid summers. But it is all part of the experience right!?

Right.
