Vibrant Watercolor Receding Background

Welcome everyone! Mindy Eggen with you today and I have a very vibrant card to share with you so you may want to grab your sunglasses.

I'm starting to dabble into liquid watercolors. I have the Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi set but I just wasn't "feeling" it. Then a friend gifted me a set of Dr. Ph. Martin's Liquid Watercolors and I'm in love! They come in a plastic bottle with a dropper applicator. This is perfect for me because I can control how much of one color when mixing colors.

Now this card got a little out of control on me but it was still fun to make! I created a background using the Dr. Ph. Martin's Liquid Watercolors on Bee Paper Company watercolor paper. I would paint a layer of colors, dry with my heat tool and reapply color for more vibrancy. I layered it three times to really make it pop. 

I wanted to add a subtle background using the Receding Background stamp. As you can see, it didn't come out too subtle. I heat embossed White Satin Pearl Embossing Powder onto my background and I didn't realize how white it would really be. I would have been better stamping the Receding background in the Embossing Ink and letting it dry. That would have given me the subtle background I wanted. I still love how this came out as I love vibrant cards.

I trimmed down the panel to 4" x 5 1/4" and added to a white card base.

I die cut the word Awesome three times  from white card stock and layered using the E6000 spray adhesive. This gave my word some dimension when adding to my card front.

Next, I die cut one of the Skinny Strips from Black card stock and heat embossed the sentiment in white embossing powder. This sentiment is from the Typed Sentiments stamp set. Once embossed, I just cut off the word awesome and added to my card front right above my die cut word.

Yes, a little vibrant and busy but I absolutely adore it ! I can't wait to play with these watercolors some more and create more amazing backgrounds!
