encaustic moon

another in the cosmic series
layers of clear wax, drips and splatters
lots of rubbing with oil paints and pastels
fusing it all together

encaustic and the cosmos

inspired by my friend ron benison
working a lot with oil pastels and the heat gun
I had fun playing and seeing what could happen
and the next thing I knew
a series of painting looking a bit like the cosmos

japanese porcelain and soutache set

another challenge from my friend carmi
using vintage porcelain beads and cabochons from john bead
its been awhile since creating something with soutache cord by dazzle it
it took a while to get back into the rhythm
once i did , i really enjoyed letting the cord help create the design

encaustic

as I prepare for my show this weekend
I found an old painting (below) that I never finished
I decided to work on it some more
rubbing on reds and brown
using a heat gun to melt and blend
it started to look like the fires burning in fort mcmurray
a little more wax and gold paint finished it off
