Orly Rococo A Go-Go - Holiday Mani

Good evening everyone! How was your weekend? I'm still on holiday in Lille (if this post goes live as scheduled) and I wanted to show you the polish I chose for the trip.

This is 2 coats of Orly Rococo A Go-Go from the Mineral Fx Collection. It's an intensely pigmented dark purple with multi chrome particles that flash gold, orange and pink.I wish it was easier to photograph beauties like this! It looks as good in the shade as it does in direct sunlight.

I received this beauty a while ago in a swap with an Instagram friend, Marcie (@madebymarcie). I can't believe it's taken me this long to try it out!
Look at all that shifting goodness in the bottle...

Thank you for reading and commenting!

All Hail The Queen's Golden Glitter Zebra

Today's mani was inspired by Ivana. She always has the most amazing zebra and leopard pattern combos in all different colours and glitters. So when I received Butter London All Hail The Queen in the post a while back, I knew it was the perfect base colour for this mani.

I sponged Orly Glitz & Glamour onto the tips and halfway up the nail, to add that extra bit of sparkle and topped it all off with one coat of Milani Gold Jewel FX, before stamping with BM223 and Konad Black Polish. I think my camera freaked out a little bit  and created so much glare because of all the sparkle, I couldn't get a decent picture of it.

And here is All Hail The Queen on it's own. It's such a pretty brownish nude packed with tiny scattered holographic glitter. I love nude polish so this is a nice addition to my stash.

Funky Retro Flower Accent (KKCenterHK Review)

A few weeks ago I received these full nail water decals from kkcenterhk to review! I have used various water decals before but this is my first time using full nail ones. I thought it would tricky as my nail has quite a lot of curve to it but with some tweezers, a little manoeuvring and some top coat, they managed to stay put for three days.

I didn't want to overload and use the decals for a full mani so I teamed it up with Orly Purple Pleather. I like the rubbery matte look contrasting with the funky retro flower design.

If you haven't checked out the KKCenterhk online store, go and take a look! They stock a large number of beauty products at affordable prices, from polishes to eyelashes, to wigs and all sorts of nail and make-up tools.

You can purchase these water decals (code: X&D- 08#) HERE. It will cost you $5.05 for a pack of 10 decals. I was hoping the pack would include 12 decals in case there are any tares which can happen if they are not handled carefully. There are also application instructions at the top of their full nail decals page which is quite helpful.

Glittery Tips On A Bed Of Roses

Orly Artificial Sweetener is such a pretty and soft colour which means I probably shouldn't have added anything to it but I couldn't help it. As the colour reminds me very much of roses, I thought that would be a good place to start.

I stamped with BM14 and Konad White Polish. The french tips are China Glaze Polarized from the Prismatic Chrome Glitters collection (I'm not ready to give up on this polish yet)! This glitter is so dense that it makes a perfect one coater for tape manis and french tips!

Orly Artificial Sweetener

Today I have a very special and pretty pink to show you. This is Orly Artificial Sweetener from their Cool Romance Spring 2012 collection. Although I liked all colours in that collection, this pink stood out the most.

Artificial Sweetener is a light dusty pink packed with shimmer which is very subtle and gorgeous. I really like the formula on this one as well, it's slightly thick but in a good "buttery" way, not in the "clumpy" way! Two coats is all you need for full opacity.

I'm not sure if this is the best shade of pink for my skin tone but I'm in love with how soft it is yet I wouldn't compare it to any other baby pinks I have! It's definitely a nice addition to my stash.

Orly Blue Suede & Silver Shimmer French Tips

For the past couple of days I've been wearing Orly Blue Suede from the Fall 2009 Orly Matte Couture Collection. As the name suggests, this has more of a suede, satiny finish but I still consider it a matte because of the way it look on the nail!
I know a lot of people still haven't embraced the matte look, others think it's horrendous (my cousin compares it to felt tip pens) but I have to say that I quite like it. It's not as versatile as a regular gloss finish polish, but for me, it serves it's purpose.

Blue Suede is nothing like OPI Russian Navy Matte, which I don't own but have tried. This is a gorgeous navy with a dusty satin shimmer.
I actually wore a base coat with this polish as I was afraid to stain my nails and it still applied smoothly, without major dragging or patchy problems.

I then added some Zoya Trixie french tips and some rhinestones. I couldn't think of what else to do with a matte polish. I did consider some stamping but I was sure it wouldn't hold without a top coat and it would probably make it look like chalk board!

I was curious to see what this particular colour looked like with a glossy finish so I added a top coat of SV, but concluded that this matte should be left as it is:

Glittery Pop Fiction!

I painted my nails with Miss Sporty Pop Fiction yesterday (and ended up doing my toes as well) but this morning before I went out I had to fiddle around with it. Why oh why can't I leave a pretty colour alone!!

I sponged some Zoya Trixie half way up and then some Orly Glitz & Glamour on the tips before stamping with BM01. To be honest I have no idea what I was trying to achieve! Usually when I start a mani I already know what I want to do with it but sometimes when I'm pressed for time, my ideas are all over the place and then this happens:

Orly Purple Pleather + Colour Club Covered in Diamonds!!!

Hello fellow nail polish lovers J . Yesterday I showed you how amazingly pretty Orly Purple Pleather is! Ohh, I'm in love (again!)
Well this morning before I left the house for my weekend trip, I was scheduling my posts and I just couldn't resit adding something to this mani. I didn't have a lot of time so I just topped it with ColorClub Covered in Diamonds! I wanted to see what a satin-matte finish would look like with some glossy bling!!

Covered in Diamonds would look much better in direct sunlight but unfortunately, I didn't have any!

And then guess what??!! I wanted to see what Covered in Diamonds looked like matte, so I added a couple of coats of Claire's Matt Top Coat. IMO it doesn't look as pretty as the original satin finish of Orly Purple Pleather.

Swatch: Orly Purple Pleather - from the Orly Plastix Satin Finish Collection

Hi everyone. Are you all ready for the weekend? Hopefully the rain won’t deter me from my plans! We are going down to the countryside to meet a friend. I always love going to the country because city life can get so hectic!
Today I wanted to show you another polish I got from my haul the other day – Orly Purple Pleather.
Orly Purple Pleather is one of 4 polishes from the Orly Plastix Satin Finish Collection and unlike regular mattes, they have a glossy “plastic” finish, hence the “satin” name, so I guess they can be called a satin-matte polish?!
Purple Pleather is a blue based purple and I’ve heard that its similar to Orly’s Charged Up but with a different finish of course.
The formula on this is thin but applies really well as its manageable and I had no problem with flooding. It’s highly pigmented so I only required 2 coats (no top coat of course).

I love the satin finish, it dries fast like a matte but the finish is is so much prettier. I couldn't stop staring at it!! I’m already contemplating in getting Viridian Vinyl J

Nail Polish Haul...before a self-imposed ban!!!

So, a little earlier this afternoon, I received my package from Transdesign. Surfing that website was probably the first thing I did when I got paid last week!!! I wasn't expecting it so quickly because overseas orders usually take much longer than 4 working days! I spent so much money (including shipping) that I must stay on the wagon for a while now before I can justify spending more money on polish.
Here is what I got. A little bit of each brand that isn't widely available in the UK. Swatches of some of these to follow soon:

Here is a close-up:
China Glaze - First Mate, Misa - Pour Me Something Tall & Strong
China Glaze - Towel Boy Toy, New York - Hot Baby Blue
New York - Vegas Silver, Colour Club - Covered in Diamonds, Orly - Purple Pleather
Colour Club - In Bloom, Colour Club - Best Dressed List
China Glaze - Senorita Bonita, China Glaze - Liquid Leather, China Glaze - Recycle
China Glaze - Wagon Trail, China Glaze - Sugar High

Ahoy Captain !!!!! - Nautical themed nails

This summer, Nautical is in again. It has been around for seasons and is sailing right into 2011..lol !!! Well, at least for me it is... I love myself a nice blue stripped or anchor t-shirt, little sailing boat pics and the red, white and blue colour combo :-)

Check out this cute outfit:
Picture taken from Polyvore

I probably wouldn't wear heavy nautical nails with a totally nautical outfit (a bit ott or what??) but I would definitely keep it within the colour scheme.

Sorry, my hands were a bit shaky drawing the white stripes. Too much coffee, not enough sleep.

I love this matte Orly Blue Suede. My favourite out of the Orly Matte Couture Collection.
It reminds me of a blue dusty eggshell surface and although its a matte, I could swear I saw a hint of sheen to it !!! Its opaque enough for 1 coat which is what I applied but a 2nd coat would do no harm, since you can't use a topcoat. It also dries twice as fast as regular polish which is always a bonus :-)

Products used:
* Orly - Blue Suede
* OPI - Alpine Snow
* Red & White Nail Art Pen & Brush
* Rhinestones

Moroccan Jewels

I posted these yesterday but because of the problems blogger has been having, my post was deleted.

I came back from holidays in Morocco on Wednesday afternoon and decided to do a Morrocan inspired mani. Although it was the worst holiday ever (I won't go into it here, it would take forever), I really like the vibrant mix of colours they use in their tapestry, arts and crafts, etc..

I also got some new polishes at the airport which was a plus :-)
Sorry about the lighting in the picture, it was a really dark and cloudy day.

Products used:
Nails Inc - Teal
Orly - Glitz & Glamour
Creative Nail Design - Raspberry Parfait

Thanks for stopping by :-)
