Edible images

Have you heard about having your own picture on a cake? Yes yes! Edible image is the new black~! :P
My first encounter with edible image was at a friend's engagement and i was like "oh wow" from Michele's Patisserie. Never thought we could actually do it ourselves from our home printers.. Only with the fact that we need edible ink (with a compatible printer of course).
I personally like the idea, makes cakes look pretty cool and everyone now is sorta crazy over it.

I might try it out one day :) We'll see whose birthday next so i can whip up the idea. Hehe

Cupcake stand

Hello Hello!

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was pretty full on, had a friend's wedding and my boyfriends birthday. Mad 36 hours~ Anyways i somehow found time to make my first attempt cupcake stand! It turned out pretty well, hopefully it'll hold the cupcakes securely~ :)

I had a little shopping spree today and wheel and barrow. Bought myself a cute baby pink set of apron, oven glove and some dish cloth. It was so adorable that i couldn't help resisting! There goes my credit card bill again :o

Yoong the Garfield

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. this is a secret birthday cake for yoong and he's turning 24 this sat!! (officially next week Wed)
This is the first ever birthday cake i made myself for my boyfriend. I've made many cakes for him to try but never a cake specially for him :p
So i made sure that i made it extra special this year by making his favorite animal(the cat) as his cake. Hope he'll like it *fingers cross!*

Almost done~

Done~

Doesn't he look just like Garfield?

I'm so glad it turned out right. I was so worried before that the orange turned out yuck-ky and ruin my garfield. Wilton colors are definitely trustable~!

Now, i can officially celebrate easter and make some easter bunny cupcakes~ Maybe next time i should try to make a cake or even a chocolate easter egg. Y-U-M!

Bunny in the making

Ear Modeling Process

TAA-DAH! The end result! :9

just Y-U-M

I found a bunny picture (the one in the middle) online and its so cute! It's so furry and cuddly so i tried making one of the bunny ears droopy, like the real one,  but it turned out to be an unsuccessful attempt :( will try it next time.

Cupcakes on Sunday

I've been slacking off uni work today and entertained myself in the kitchen with some vanilla cupcakes. I adapted the recipe from Miss Bakerella to help inspire my flower cupcakes. Obviously mine isn't as great as her but for a first attempt. Not bad!

Dina the Dinosaur + Me and You

Hello again~
For the past two weeks, i have been attend a novelty workshop at cake decorating central. It was so much fun and i learn that to model using fondant icing, we need to use cmc/gum.  That was something new that i never knew! :p Now i can model my ribbons better and make funny figurings~
This is what i made at the workshop.

I've been looking high and low for a good modeling paste recipe and finally i found one and  made some sugar roses with the recipe. This recipe is adapted from the women's weekly cookbook with the title celebration cakes.
I made my roses with these recipe so gals, give it a try!

Modelling fondant:-

2 teapoons gelatine
1 1/2 tablespoons of water
2 teaspoons glucose syrup
1 1/2 cups (240g) icing sugar , sifted

Method
1. Sprinkle gelatin over the water in cup, stand cup in small saucepan of simmering water, stirring until gelatine is dissolve then add glucose.

2. Place half the icing sugar in medium bowl, stir in gelatine mixture. Gradually stir in remaining sugar, knead on surface dusted with icing sugar until smooth and elastic. Wrap tightly with cling wrap to prevent crack and drying out.

Taadah! Some roses i made
