Black and White Cake

I call this a black and white beauty. The color reminds me very much of elegance and posh.

This cake and design took me and JN (my little Santa's helper) a good couple of hours trying to put the 3D flowers together. Our first batch of flowers failed miserably but luckily our 2nd attempt sustained. :P

Thanks to JN's delicate fingers , we manage to put the petals together without them falling apart. Every time i touch it, it just goes "YIKES!" I just had no luck with them.

Coming next will be a corset cake  so wish me luck!

New Site!!

Hello my dear readers,

Regarding my header above, i will be developing a new site soon!! That is why i've been slacking in updating this blog :p

Here's the inside to it:-
The new site is addressed at www.mysweetheartsbakery.com and this blog will be moved to mysweetheartsbakeryblog.com.
The difference is that the new site will be an official business website where clients can order their cakes, view samples and flavors. This blog will mainly be dedicated to updates for what's going on with My Sweethearts Bakery kitchen.

The move won't be for another month but i thought i just give a heads up to all of my lovely readers :). So stay tune!
Oh yes, don't worry, i will make a BIG post announcement when the new site is up and ready!

This is my newest order for the week and it was for a baby shower. The theme was pearl blue as the expected baby was a BOY! M wanted something simple and sweet so she chose this design and she also created a very lovely poem to go on her cake. I must say that i really love the poem she created!

On a Sunday Afternoon

Winter's finally here.
It's been so cold lately. Not that it is a bad thing, I love the cold and the rain especially on the days where i have no intention of leaving the house. Most of the time when it rains, it makes me wonder, makes me think, makes me dream. and also makes me hungry :)

ps: don't get me wrong but i love summer too!!

Here's how Chico snuggles up during winter, under my bed in his little cubby hole

Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea cupcakes

Remember my previous post on CCNSW BMT event?

Yes, it's finally here this week!!!
Although i cannot host a morning tea myself but this year i've decided to donate some of my cupcakes (free of course!) to others who are holding the event at their business, community and etc. I wish them all good luck for the event! :)

I'm making a massive 350 cupcakes!! My very great helper Jan Nee (the one who inpires me to bake and does heaps of baking herself) and I are going to work all night Tuesday and all day Wednesday

To those of you that i couldn't help out, perhaps next year, if i get more helpers, i would be able to provide more free cupcakes for the event!

Pink and Purple Christening Cake with butterflies

These are the picture i promised!

I practically did a all round 360 shot of this cake. A good way to make full use of my new Nikon baby ;p

I've used the roses i made yesterday as the topper with purple butterflies. What do u think of it? Leave me a comment and let me know!

I've been questioned several times on how the cakes are stacked and i thought i'll give a little insight on how i do mine :)

First we start by covering the board with fondant and use your favorite ribbon to cover the ends. The board will then look like this

Close up on the ribbon i used. I bought this from Lindcraft at the lace section. Like it? I think it gives it a very classy touch to it.

First i covered the bottom tier with fondant

I've use two dowels (they are actually really thick skewers which i called dowel) in insert them into your bottom tier like this
DSC_0036

Then use royal icing to cover the skewers which also helps to stick the top tier to the bottom tier
DSC_0037

Last step is to place your top tier on top of the royal icing bits
