But not my Shiloh. We're in Israel.

That was Ohio. United States of America.

Bad News From Shiloh...Ohio

Shiloh closing Liverpool plant

...Shiloh Industries Inc. announced this week it will permanently close its Liverpool Manufacturing Plant at 700 Liverpool Drive, putting 111 employees out of work. The company filed a notice with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services on Monday about the plant closing, which Shiloh said will happen within two weeks after July 3.

A Shiloh official did not immediately return messages seeking comment Thursday.

In the documents filed with the state, Shiloh cites “sudden, unforeseeable and unannounced suspension of manufacturing by two of our major customers” as a reason for the “accelerated closure” of the plant.

According to Shiloh’s Web site, the company formed as a tool and die business in 1950 and built its Medina Blanking facility in 1986. The company manufactures first operation blanks, engineered welded blanks, complex stampings and modular assemblies for the automotive and heavy-truck industries.

...“With the economic recession intensifying in the U.S. and around the world, the automotive industry in North America has slowed to 1991 sales levels, while the car and light-vehicle production has slowed in the last three months to levels we have not seen for over 25 years,” Shiloh CEO Theodore K. Zampetis said in a February statement...

A Miracle in Shiloh...Ohio

So, headcovering does have advantages.

Did scarf help stop stray bullet? Shiloh woman OK after being struck in head

A simple white scarf may have helped to save a 71-year-old Shiloh woman's life Monday. Mary Keesy was taken to MedCentral/ Mansfield Hospital shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, after a bullet from a .22-caliber rifle struck the top of her head.

Keesy said she feels lucky to be alive.

"The bullet skidded about four and a half inches and then penetrated through the skin, but I didn't feel any pain," Keesy said. "I had just this thin scarf on my head, but the doctors said it probably had a lot to do with saving me."
Richland County Sheriff's deputies said two 17-year-old boys were issued summonses for negligent assault. Both admitted to shooting rifles into the air near the railroad tracks on Noble Road, about one mile from Keesy's home at 16 Prospect St.

..."I didn't have any surgery or anything," she said. "I was told the bullet went through all the layers of my skin and reached my skull, but it didn't penetrate it."

...Despite the hole now in the middle of her scarf, Keesy said she plans to keep it as souvenir.

"This is just an example of the power of the Lord," Keesy said. "I know that God was with me and that's why I'm still here."

Shiloh man, 28, arrested on an indictment for store robbery

GREENWICH -- A 28-year-old Shiloh man was arrested this week on an indictment for the robbery of a gas station in Greenwich, according to the Huron County Sheriff's Office. James Porter, Mechanic Street, was indicted in June for aggravated robbery, robbery and theft, according to Huron County Common Pleas Court records.

Authorities believe Porter rode a bicycle to the Greenwich BP about 1 p.m. May 13, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The female clerk opened the cash drawer and the man took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on his bicycle, according to the Huron County Sheriff's office. Porter was released by the Richland County Sheriff's Office, turned over to Huron County, and taken to the jail Wednesday afternoon, according to a sheriff's report.

Porter pleaded innocent to the indictment at his arraignment yesterday, Prosecutor Russ Leffler said. The court set a $40,000 bond in the case and scheduled a pretrial for September and a trial for October, Leffler said.

Shiloh...Ohio

On occasion, we in Shiloh, Samaria, Israel would get mail that was intended for Ohio. Why? Well, I at first thought because our zip code, 44830, was similar to Ohion's. But that's just part the answer.

There really is a Shiloh, Ohio and from the new report below, it sounds just like our village life:-

News Journal correspondent

SHILOH -- Village Council continues to discuss how to comply with an Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirement that a minimum of three workers be on site for jobs that require digging. The village has two.

Village Administrator Rick Reeder told council Monday he had confirmed the three-worker OSHA rule. Council, which earlier decided against hiring a third full-time employee, discussed part-time alternatives, but did not make a decision.

Reeder also reported Quality Lines will begin work this week to complete the village's electrical upgrades.

Also, smoke testing of sanitary sewer lines will begin Aug. 9. The testing is a
requirement of the Environmental Protection Agency.

In other business, council:

• Heard that Lee and Mary Chronister will be Grand Marshals of this week's ox roast parade.
• Approved an agreement to deposit public funds with the Citizen's Banking Company for five years beginning Aug. 24.
• Accepted a $290 donation from Mount Hope Lutheran Church to buy mulch for the park.
• Agreed to advertise for bids for repairs and renovations of the police outpost
building.

Council will next meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 12.
