YESTERDAY I drove 3 hours to Québec City to attend the FUNERALS of a dear friend who PASSED away in a TERRIBLE accident ... 

This afternoon, I TRIED driving back before the FORECASTED snowstorm but I got caught by the BLIZZARD and could NOT see THREE feet ahead of me ... So I had to STOP for the night and rent a cheap MOTEL room ... 

Just called HOME and the power is OUT again and the satellite MODEM has fallen on the ground AGAIN due to the VIOLENT winds ... 

The HORROR ... 

What IF spring did NOT show up this YEAR ? 

I'm staring to HYPERVENTILATE here !

This morning, my happy AND hopeful GREEN thumb turned into a a bright AND colorful SPRING one !

EASTER water HARVESTING day !

Eau de PÂQUES ... EASTER water ... MAGIC elixir ... CURE-ALL potion ... MIRACLE philter ... 

To be HARVESTED from the running water of a SPRING or BROOK ... Right BEFORE sunrise on EASTER morning ... AGAINST the current ... 

Both my GREAT grand-mothers filled BOTTLES with Easter water and gave them away to EACH member of the family ... To be kept AND used ALL YEAR round ... Known to CURE tooth and back ACHES, cuts AND bruises, burns AND skin conditions, broken arms AND upset stomach, sore thoat AND muscles, poison ivy AND shingles ... Also used to GROW nails and hair FASTER, get rid of SCARS and clear ear INFECTIONS ... Good AGAINST bee stings, fleas AND blood suckers ... 

My grand-mothers woke up EARLY on Easter morning and walked DOWN to the river in their NIGHTGOWN to fill BOTTLES of it ... So does my MOTHER ... And naturally ... So DO I ... 

Just because it is SUCH a wonderful piece of FOLKLORE to pass from ONE generation to the NEXT one ... And because ... 

It WORKS ...

I got back HOME just in time to watch the SUN set on the MOUNTAIN through the western WINDOW ... And my HEART filled with so much WARMTH that it melted the ICICLES hanging from the ROOF and turned the HORIZON on FIRE ... 

Ah ah ah ! YES ! 

Me and my good OLD self are slowly BUT surely returning to my VERY own and personal NORMALCY !

Getting READY for EASTER ... if ONLY in spirit ... 

Due to ALL that is happening right NOW,, we have decided to POSTpone our FAMILY reunion until MOTHERS Day this year ... The internet AND the electricity has been FIXED and my PAPA is doing GRRRREAT following his second OPEN-HEART surgery ... 

I SHOULD be back HOME on SUNDAY, just in time to FRENCH-kiss the Easter BUNNY !

ENOUGH with the HOSPITAL and the MEDICAL clinic, the VET and the PHARMACIST, the ELECTRICIAN and the PLUMBER, the INTERNET server and the CAR repair SHOP ... ENOUGH with the COLD, the ICE and the SNOW ... 

Give me a couple more DAYS and I will be BACK to my NORMAL cheery and bright and joyful SELF ... That is IF they fix my MAUDITE internet connection and I get a BREAK from family HEALTH problems ! 

I am DETERMINED to resurect on EASTER day !

Still NO internet, SOME electricity, a FOOT of water in our FLOODED basement due to FROZEN pipes and my PAPA is back at the HOSPITAL for a little TUNE-up ... 

But ALL will be BETTER now that SPRING has sprung ! I will be BACK home for good on FRIDAY or SATURDAY and wil reply to messages, requests AND comments when I DO !

NO internet, NO electricity but TONS of snow !!!

NO internet, NO electricity but TONS of SNOW ! 

ALMOST 3 feet of WHITE stuff fell on the MOUTAIN since yesterday morning with SERIOUS angry wind ... Our INTERNET satelitte DISH flew to the GROUND and broke in pieces and we have been WITHOUT power ALL day today due to electrical wires DOWN as well in the neighborhood ... 

But we are all SAFE and WARM, with a built-tough ROOF over our head, a ROARING fire in the wood stove, plenty of FOOD to eat and BOOKS to read and a strong HOPE that SPRING is really REALLY just around the CORNER ...

EPIC battle with WINTER ...

EARLY this morning, the WINTER-beast-that-just-WON'T-quit, opened its BIG mouth, stuck out its ALIEN-like-dripping-wet icy FANGS and CHEWED our house, EAST windows and walls FIRST ...

I then gathered my COURAGE to face the ENNEMY ...

And with one LONG swipe of my SNOW shovel, I broke ALL its TEETH ... which are now all PILED up in a HILL, looking like SHED crystal UNICORN horns ...

AWAY from HOME at HOME ...

Yesterday the weather got mild ENOUGH to spend time in my garden DUNGEON ... RECORD HIGH of 60 degrees F ... NEVER seen before in this land of COLD and SNOWY and LONG winters ... DOOR and WINDOWS open ... I swept the mouse POOP, spider WEBS and dead FLIES accumulated during the PAST months ... 

Entering it after that long felt like getting inside a GIANT time CAPSULE ... And the SMELL of my naturalist CABIN ! 

If I close my EYES, I get INSTANTLY transported to my GRAND-PARENTS's little SUMMER camp by the river when I was a KID ... 

Where I would FISH with my GRAND-PAPA Paul for eels with a flashlight at night in a HAND-MADE dingy, EXPLODE ripe black walnuts with a wise-grip, DIG for soft water clams in the mud ... Where I would COLLAGE with my GRAND-MAMAN Gabrielle animal pictures clipped in magazines, add unknown SPECIMENS to my pressed-leaves BOOK, bake a cake while the current art project was DRYING on the kitchen table and read Enyd Blyton's MYSTERY BOOKS by the light of a candle while NATURE sang in strange voices through the moskito screens of the VERANDA ... 

My OUTDOOR studio is my little place AWAY from home ... at HOME ...

GYPSY caravan on ICE ...

I spend TODAY at my FRIEND's ritzy CABIN on the LAKE ... 

With the HELP of strong REMEDIED coffee, we chatted, LAUGHED and enjoyed each other's COMPANY while keeping the FIRE going in his SPIFFY little SARDINE-CAN cottage made of UPCYCLED material ... 

EARLY primitive STEAMPUNK, isn't it ? Add LARGE wagon WHEELS to it and a HORSE to pull it and it would make a PERFECT shabby little GYPSY caravan for the summer ...

My first FRIDA clay SCULPTURE is ALMOST done ...

ALMOST there ... 

My first ever CLAY Frida is getting the final COLOR brush strokes on her make up ... And I am DEEEELIGHTED with how she turned out ... What an adventure SCULPTING has been so far for me ... 

And it is GRRREAT to be BACK at work in my studio ... Knowing that my PAPA is now SAFE and SOUND ...

My SON is coming HOME !

BETTER start ironing my MOTHER outfit and STOP acting like a rebel TEEN right now ... 

My SPAWN, who spent the 5 PAST weeks in Switzerland, is coming HOME tomorrow !
