Cutting in Line

I was at work yesterday supervising the kids during their recess when a boy in 1st grade ran up to me and tattle-taled on one of his classmates.

Chris: Miss C! Jacob cutted!!

(Jacob comes dashing toward us.)

Me: Jacob what happened? Were you cutting in line?

Jacob: He got out of line! Then when he came back he pushed me!

Me (to Chris): You got out of line?

(Chris angrily walked away realizing it was his fault.)

Chris walked to the bench and sat there for the entire 20 minutes of recess. I was watching from a few feet away. Then a couple of minutes later, a boy named Nathan, from a different 1st grade class, sat a few inches next to him. Nathan looked at Chris and probably wondered why he was crying, but he just looked at him for a good minute. I wondered if this was to see if Chris was crying or to think of what to say to him.
Please take note that both of these boys are troublemakers. Not that they're bad. They just don't listen and follow directions. I assumed that Nathan was on the bench because he was also in trouble. Nathan finally said something to Chris. They talked for a bit. Chris stopped crying after a little while. That moment caught me off guard. What could have been the conversation about? What could have Nathan told Chris that made him stop crying? They're 7 years old.

Then I realized, they are just like us--grown-ups. We cry when we're hurt, but when a friend comes along, whether they're troublemakers or not, and sits with us through our low times, we feel a little bit better--even if no words come out of their mouths.

*for my friends in my times of need and in my not times of need, thank you.

nakakatuwa naman..

oo nga it is so nice to have friends..especially at times na gusto mo ng umiyak ng todotodo. the mere fact na andiyan sila sa tabi mo kahit di man magsalita e parang gumagaan na agad yung loob mo..

true friends can sometimes be mean. when you ask them for advice, they will always tell you the truth... even if it's not pleasant, even if it's not the thing you want to hear. because that's what true friends do. they look after you. they would rather risk losing the friendship than see you hurt or journey the wrong path.

yeap... madaming bagong tao sa paligid natin na naghihintay lang ng tamang pagkakataon para maging importanteng bahagi ng ating buhay.. however, di nila mapapalitan ang old friends natin,no matter what.

lumipas man ang panahon at madami man ang makilala nating bagong kaibigan, andyan lang sila, still silently hoping the best for us. and friendship, i think, is one of the best things in this life na hindi kayang palitan ng kahit na anong materyal na bagay.

Minsan tayong mga mattanda nakakaranas prin ng mga ganyang pangyayari. Yun bang parang aping-api na tayo until we will just stop and crying as if there's no one can help us anymore. Pero the truth is there are people who are just behind us staring and trying to find the perfect time for them to talk and comfort us.
